Little Wolfgang is enjoying seeing himself on camera,beautiful little boy. Valerie is a beautiful lady,she has dignity and eloquence.Even though her husband was having issues at the time,Wolfies Mum kept it altogether because Valerie had unconditional Love for her husband and their son. I salute you Valerie.

@@yourallbrainwashed they both cheated. I think it just is more surprising when a woman says "okay, I am attractive, I can do the same." Just like he had groupies, Valerie was a hot ticket.
Either way, they both got over the cheating and were friends til the end so it was a mutual understanding that they both screwed up.

Literally - his sound is from his then unheard of idea to boost the input voltage of his guitar amplifier from the 120 volts in the wall to 220 - on an amp designed to run off 120. That's part of how he got his signature sound.

Me too honeyBut it was all for the best. They remained close civil friends for Wolfie & all.Her parents were crushed on her wedding day.If I can 👀 the Rachel Rachel Ray & Oprahs shows w her on it promoting her book LOSING IT.HER PARENTS WERE THERE IN Audience. I was the Biggest Fan of hers ever since she was on cover of banannas.I collected everything I COULD w her on it.B4 VCRS i used to record One Day At A Time on cassettes & cut out from the tv guide of the episode& what its about& scotch tape it on.Also the interviews on every talk show appearance that I Was Able to.
I don't think Eddie and Valerie ever stopped loving each other, I guess they just had to separate but they remained close and great parents to their son and even attended each other's next weddings. They're a shining but rare example of getting closer after divorce. Valerie even used to help Eddie look after himself when he was ill with cancer treatment so she loved him until the end. She was there holding him together with Wolfgang right until his final moment. I guess love doesn't always present itself in the conventional sense.
@@vinaymulukutla358 This is so very true. Although my late ex husband and I were divorced and never able to have children together, I never stopped loving him. I got to spend a few days with him in the hospital before he passed away. We got divorced in 1998 and I will always love him. I know Valerie has remarried and so did Eddie, but I think they truly loved each other till the very end 🍃🕊

Valerie was so cute. I wondered why such a cute sweet girl would marry a rocker, but then you hear how nice of a guy Eddie was, and it makes sense. She still loves him.

That was the image not reality. It was a dysfunctional relationship with alcohol drugs and cheating.
@@TheJpep2424 It might have been wrought with dysfunction but they also loved each other very much and really were the only ones who understood each other because they were both famous going into the relationship from the start. She knew the rock star life style before she even said Hi to Eddie the first time they met. She accepted it because she loved him and he loved her.

I always thought the same thing! That they LOOKED like brother & sister, in the beginning anyway. She wasn't squeaky clean when they got together either. She also admitted to infidelity on her side as contributing to their split. They made it a long time, through a lot. If not for her & Wolfie, he probably wouldn't have made it half way to 65. The fact that even she was holding him in his final moments and her words calling him "my love" after his passing say a lot. They couldn't stay married, but I doubt he ever stopped loving her either.
Wish you could hear this video!! Eddie and Valerie were my favorite celebrity couple in my teens. Sad that they split up, but they were together an eternity by Hollywood and Rock music standards!

I remember watching this live. I was about to get out of college. It must have been 1992-93. I wish I had taped it. I watched anything Van Halen. I remembered that part where she kind of screams, and he looks at her kind of spooked.

Awwww, so sweet and adorable he was. His voice hadnt changed much, still a tenor but now english instead of jibberish. I so wish it wouldve worked out for Ed and Val, they were a beautiful couple but things all work out in the end. A very sweet fleeting moment in time, which is all any of of us have here.

Wolfie was such a little ham. Not to mention such a cutie.
Ed didn't feel comfortable without his guitar.
If you look back on a lot of the footage from interviews with him backstage around TV shows and other events that weren't Van Halen concerts, he's walking around with his guitar. He once said you never know when inspiration will strike so he got to where he literally carried his guitar with him everywhere, and I am almost certain one of the guitar companies developed the little 9v battery powered amplifier you can clip to your belt and plug a real guitar into specifically for Eddie so he could just walk around with it lol

When Valerie appeared on Johnny Carson in the 80's, she said the same thing, and that if you look at pictures of them from when they were kids, they were nearly identical.
I always thought Eddie and Valerie could pass for brother and sister... the look related!

@gmlasam That's not true. Eddie's mom Eugenia van Beers was Dutch-Indonesian. Van Beers is like Van Halen a Dutch surname. "Van" means From. It was a big difference if you were Dutch / Dutch-Indonesian (Indo) or native Indonesian before World War II. Eugenia was born in 1914, died 2005.
His mother was asian from Indonesia.
