The Sustain on some of the notes seemed impossible to replicate. I remember EVH fans would ponder for Years, just how he did Eruption and Eruption was played at A LOT of High school graduations. Well. The people that thumbed down this aren't myself but probably accomplished guitarists who understand why Eddie was great and perhaps this compilation doesn't really capture the genius of Eddie. More like a fan making a video. Not a guitar player who knows.. Eddie is one of my heroes. But this video just captures the gimmicky aspects of Eddie. Not the deep cut stuff that influenced actual players. Tapping is the least impressive aspect of Eddie. He had a brother. Alex is one of the greats for drums. He's amazing and has style. They both helped to create each other. But to me Alex is foundation and Eddie is the glue.
Eddie inspired soo much guitarists, and the today's electric guitar wouldn't exist without him, thank you Eddie. A last goodbye but we all know you'll never die, rip 🤘😔.

I would like everyone who cares to give their prayers to Alex. Not being mentioned. All I know if it was my brother at this point I'd want to be with him RIP
Eddie’s passing makes me think of how difficult to comprehend it must’ve been back in the day for admirers and lovers of classical composers such as Mozart and Beethoven, when these musical geniuses passed away. How the community came together to mourn. EVH was a modern genius. A Mozart of the fretboard. What a loss. So sad. He and his music, like that of other musical masters, lives on with us, each time we hit PLAY and turn the volume up. Heartfelt condolences to his family.
The last one gave me goosebumps!! Throughout the video he appears to be channeling a higher power, much like Jimi Hendrix did. He was supremely talented, that's for sure.
This is a sad day for most but not for "Dime" who is reunited with his hero....I firmly believe "Dime And Eddie" are gonna be shredding in HEAVEN....listen closely if you hear Thunder🤘
Amazing stuff! One of my favorite EVH riffs is the intro to Ain’t talking bout love. It’s just beautiful. He left an incredible legacy for us to enjoy.
I'm not sure if the word is awe, but when you've got someone as talented as MJ kind of at odds as to what to do with himself in his own supreme domain, you know another genius has just entered the building. RIP Eddie Van Halen
Another tough one this year. Neil Peart, and now Eddie Van Halen. 2020 has not been a good year. Absolutely in shock. I have been a guitarist for over 40 years, and Eddie was one of the guys that transformed me from a casual to a serious player. He was an innovator and a groundbreaking pioneer of modern rock guitar. To all fellow players out there, raise your guitar in honor of Eddie, and if he has influenced you in any way, remember this when you are playing. God bless Wolfgang, Janie, and Alex during this painful time. RIP Legend.
I was so happy to have gotten the chance to see Eddie Van Halen perform in concert with my father who introduced my brother and I to Van Halen’s music. My dad said when he was young he would always air guitar to every guitar solo Eddie did. Thank you Eddie for your amazing music and creating an incredible bond between my father and I.
I doubt he'd ever have it there; but yes....the Frankenstrat, a guitar that probably cost $500 to build, is likely now worth millions on legacy alone!!!!
Seeing it at the MET made me smile so hard. Something i only ever seen on tv was now directly in my face. To see the iconic design, the wear and tear, the scratches. How ok I’m about to start crying again. Rest In peace Eddie!

My dad manages a restaurant EVH happened to like. One day when he came to the restaurant, my dad called my mom and told her to bring me and my guitar. EVH signed it and gladly took a picture. Legends never die. RIP EVH.
Think it’s more a criticism of loudwire cashing in on his death, I didn’t dislike the video but I think they should have removed ads of it because I can see how it could be seen as a cash grab
Wow, that footage at the end from the "Live: Without a Net" concert video brings back memories. I wore out two of those tapes watching them over and over and over. RIP Eddie...fucking legend.
When I heard this I looked at the back of my bedroom door and saw my poster of him, so I turned to my left and on my table was an old guitar world magazine with eddie on the front cover, so I picked up my guitar and it was still tuned in E flat like eddie’s. Everywhere I turned, something of his was still there and will stay there, after I’m gone, after we’re gone after a thousand upon thousand more generations. He’s always here, bye buddy🔴⚪️⚫️
I've always been a VH fan since they release VH1 in '78, but I don't like the bad/cheap work that have been done here... not a single cool transition from a video to another and other details. I didn't put a dislike... but didn't click the like button. That's maybe why the Bieber fans put a 👎🏼 And finally, who cares if some people don't like the same stuff??? The only videos I saw without a single 👎🏼 have always been those getting 1-10 likes. Some dislikes won't change my love for a track, record(s) and a Group or Artist 🤷🏽♂️
Eddie is one of the most iconic, influencial, amazing 🎸 guitarist around & the nicest person i ever met at Warner Bros. Records . (1986 Publicity Dept....I talked with him & the whole band for about 35 minutes)...I was treated like family... I'll will always miss Eddie as a fellow musician & as a friend...R.I.P. Eddie !
Well, a lot of us were secretly hoping his health rumors were just rumors and he'd make this great comeback at some point and shock the world all over again. However, this is the worst shock imaginable. RIP Eddie, you inspired the world
2007. I was 12 years old at a chess tournament that I lost in my first game. My best bud lost shortly after, and he brought me to his dad’s truck. What I heard blew me away so intensely that it still feels like yesterday. I had heard Eruption for the first time. I got my first guitar less than 6 months after that and still wannabe shred today. Thank you Eddie for giving me memories to reflect back on someday. You’ve inspired so many and will continue to do so thank you to the internet. It’s not tears, it’s allergies.
We are just playing roles for a bit in this weird thing called life before we return to the oneness of the universe after death. Shakespeare said something along the lines of the Earth is a stage and everyone in it is an actor, the star of their own play. And damn have there been some amazing plays. The universe is a genius for creating all of us, and we all have our unique contributions, and no one was quite like Eddie Van Halen

The Sustain on some of the notes seemed impossible to replicate. I remember EVH fans would ponder for Years, just how he did Eruption and Eruption was played at A LOT of High school graduations. No one had seen anything like Eddie or his tapping. Great band and Great Memorys, thanks Eddie!! RH DSD
What year was that?
Tammy Barnwell 1978 ma’am
DIOSpeedDemon What does RH DSD mean
@@coreyabell6332 I was '76. I saw EVH quite a few times. Van Halen was so great. Van Hagar, too. Remember people saying that back then? I'm so sure that there is just the hottest band in Heaven. RIP Eddie. See you in about 20 year's.
It was the summer of 1978?
How in the world can you “thumbs down” this?? SMH
The year 1979, the year I was introduced to the band "Van Halen". I remember it as if was yesterday, my brother handed me a cassette for my birthday. Van Halen? who the? what the?
One listen and the guitarist blew a hole in mind! Who is this guy? It's Eddie Van Halen.
Thank you Eddie for playing at all our countless keg parties and other endeavors over the years. You will never be forgotten
Great guitarist never die, their riffs play on through the heavens and straight through the clouds. R.I.P my friend.
probably from nirvana fans
But to me Alex is foundation and Eddie is the glue.
there's a special layer in hell for the jealous tightwads who disliked the video
It’s either bots or kpop fans
I feel bad for anybody that never learned to appreciate Eddie and what he's done.
Don't, we have a musical ears and enjoy music that has soul.
Eddie inspired soo much guitarists, and the today's electric guitar wouldn't exist without him, thank you Eddie. A last goodbye but we all know you'll never die, rip 🤘😔.
Eddie's legacy will flow through the power of music...may his soul peacefully rest knowing that he changed the world
All the feelings........ damn man I can't believe he's gone. T_T
Rock would not be the same without him, you were unique and you inspired a lot of guys (including me) to pick up a guitar and learn how to play it.
RIP Guitar Legend
RIP eddie van halen ... you're gone, but your songs are forever in our hearts
Not gonna lie, teared up a little when I heard Eruption. RIP EVH
Happiest guy to ever play guitar. Always the biggest smile on his face while he melts yours. Cheers Eddie thanks for music
His smile made my heart melt every time ! My major crush since I was a teen back in the 70’s when I first saw them open for Black Sabbath, and blow their shit away ! Then saw them in the 80’s with Sammy singing , both were amazing because of Eddie mainly ! Class Act guy ! RIP Eddie ! 🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰♥️♥️♥️
I’m only thirteen and to be honest almost all of my friends don’t know who Eddie is it’s sad but he is one my biggest inspiration to play the guitar R.I.P man we will miss you 🤘
Lil Jay same dude. I’m 13 and was raised in real music. Not very many if my friends know it, and it’s sad
Yeah it is sad, me two my dad is a big rock fan
Same here. I loved him man, he inspired me to pick up guitar. I know my dad would be more devastated than me, but still man. It’s gonna be real hard for me to get back into guitar now
Lance Chwan ok I will try
Glad you are listening to the Master of Shred and enjoying great music. ❤ He is the greatest rock guitarist ever. My advice would be to share with your friends, especially starting with the video of him playing Eruption in concert. Happy listening. 🎶🤟
Literally can't watch this now...i can't see through the tears, R.I.P, such a legend, never had a chance to see him on a show..Rest in heaven EVH 🙏
This video is the sound of a legend and simply the greatest guitarist ever period
Eddie Van Halen RIP one of the greatest guitar players of all time you will be missed
Eddie is an inspiration for almost every guitarist, he will never be forgotten 🤟💗
Dimebag and Vinnie, among countless others, will be there to greet him on the other side. Thanks for giving us so much knowledge, inspiration, and timeless music. One of a kind, and undeniably the originator of shredding with soul.
R.I.P. Eddie
Well said my man.
I would put EVERYTHING I have on Dime and Vinnie greeting him at the gates.
They DEFF wouldn't miss that !
"Van Halen" 😎
Eddie inspired so many new guitarists. May he RIP.
Who ever thumbs this down something is wrong with you this man just died and he was one of the Best guitarists of all time jus give him some respect
True genius. RIP Eddie. He took the guitar to another level.
I cried when I heard the news. Van Halen was one of my biggest inspirations to become a songwriter. Rest In Peace, Eddie! The world will never be the same. 😭😭😭
He's in the clouds with every other great guitarist, he was a staple to the rock world and is one of the most recognizable names in rock. Rest in Piece Eddie Van Halen
Rest in peace Eddie Van Halen a legend who will never be forgotten.
I would like everyone who cares to give their prayers to Alex. Not being mentioned. All I know if it was my brother at this point I'd want to be with him RIP
Great point... Alex rocks!!!
🙏🙏
Sending virtual hug to AVH.
We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.
The first and last of his kind.
The goal is to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ 😊

Never focus on how long you're here for, focus on what you achieve in that time. Procrastinators nightmare
Well said. R.I.P. EVH. 💜
Rest In Peace. One Of The Most Important figures in Musics History and a true Hero/ Inspiration To Many Of Us 🤘😭
I never thought I would have to watch this video for another 30 years
Truly the greatest it was hard to accept I cried almost the whole time it hit after 20 minutes
Rest In Peace mr Edward Van Halen
Hello dear" how are you doing???
He's in a better place now, with plenty of other legends 😔🙏
Up there with Randy Rhoads, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Dimebag Darrel. R.I.P to them all.
This is a sad day for most but not for "Dime" who is reunited with his hero....I firmly believe "Dime And Eddie" are gonna be shredding in HEAVEN....listen closely if you hear Thunder🤘
RIP to the legend. God, I’m devastated.
Eddie didn't die, god just wanted to learn how to play Eruption 🙏
@36ix9 shush religion isnt real
*g o d*
No time to argue about this, guys. Lets just pay some respects to the Greatest One \m/

RIP Legend.
My heart goes out to Wolfgang, Alex and the whole Van Halen greater family...they, more than the rest of us must be devastated.
Perhaps the most inspiring player of all time. From music, to guitars, to gear, to kindness. RIP
That iconic Frankenstein guitar belongs in the Smithsonian, and not because of its amazing design...RIP Eddie
I doubt he'd ever have it there; but yes....the Frankenstrat, a guitar that probably cost $500 to build, is likely now worth millions on legacy alone!!!!
There is infact already one there , I was there about a year ago and they had a display , what they really need is a bigger one
The Frankenstein guitar is at the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) in Seattle WA. It's one of many guitars they have from many iconic guitarist.
Seeing it at the MET made me smile so hard. Something i only ever seen on tv was now directly in my face. To see the iconic design, the wear and tear, the scratches. How ok I’m about to start crying again. Rest In peace Eddie!
Frankenstrat
R.I.P Eddie Van Halen. He will never be forgotten and always remeberd and in my membory. Such a sad day such a sad year. I feel like im gonna cry. Our three best guitarists ae gone now Randy Rhoades, Hendrixs and now Eddie Ban halen. My heart goes out to him and his family ❤❤❤❤❤ to Eddie. Im just out of words.
Don't forget Dimebag Darrel.
Crazy Ginger Jake holden don’t forget about Dimebag Darrel
We still got jimmy page, one of the most influential of all time. Him and Eddie were the reasons I picked up a guitar
@Mr. snickett No, he invented tapping.
Blackmore Gary Moore page and Micheal shenker
There's no such thing as the "greatest guitarist ever", but Eddie came closer to it than anyone else. RIP, Maestro
Not true at all blackmore Gary Moore Jimmy page Micheal from ufo Tony iommi are as influencing to many also srv hendrix rik emit beck
My dad manages a restaurant EVH happened to like. One day when he came to the restaurant, my dad called my mom and told her to bring me and my guitar. EVH signed it and gladly took a picture. Legends never die. RIP EVH.
I could go on watching him play all day long, truly an amazing talent. RIP EVH
OMG i can't stop crying, Eddie was and will always be my guitar hero!!!!!!!!
I can’t imagine the pain that his brother Alex is dealing with now. 😢
I don't understand… Why would anyone dislike this? RIP Eddie
Must be the same people that burned businesses down this summer.
Think it’s more a criticism of loudwire cashing in on his death, I didn’t dislike the video but I think they should have removed ads of it because I can see how it could be seen as a cash grab
Jeff Creed u would think antifa people would like rock
Matt Garner it says in the description that they didn’t monetize the video
@@fantawi7999 I got ads on it
Wow, that footage at the end from the "Live: Without a Net" concert video brings back memories. I wore out two of those tapes watching them over and over and over.
RIP Eddie...fucking legend.
Micheal Jackson is all of us when we hear Eddie play
Not this guy.
So true. As a kid when I heard Jump for the first time my reaction was the same. Incredible music. ❤
The dislikes are people that missed the like button because they couldn't see through their tears rest In peace Eddie we love you
Those dislikes are kpopers
@@dark_oz1974 you're 100% correct
I've always been a VH fan since they release VH1 in '78, but I don't like the bad/cheap work that have been done here... not a single cool transition from a video to another and other details.
I didn't put a dislike... but didn't click the like button. That's maybe why the Bieber fans put a 👎🏼
And finally, who cares if some people don't like the same stuff??? The only videos I saw without a single 👎🏼 have always been those getting 1-10 likes.
Some dislikes won't change my love for a track, record(s) and a Group or Artist 🤷🏽♂️
Lol Eruption blasted so loudly that their frickin PCs shook
Filthy Loops they didn’t have the time to properly edit though
Rest In Peace, EVH. A true legend 🤘🏻
Besides being "The King" also the "Most Loved Guitarist on the Planet" !!!
When Eddie played guitar, everything else was just background noise.
He is the greatest guitarist of all time, and a huge inspiration to me. He will never be forgotten, Rest in power EVH.
Rest In Peace absolute legend. Always remembered.
The best guitar moment is when his shredding terrified George McFly into thinking he was being visited by Darth Vader from the planet Vulcan.
Yes! Classic...
TH3 F4LC0N epic moment, still couldn’t recognise what song it was though
Eddie is one of the most iconic, influencial, amazing 🎸 guitarist around & the nicest person i ever met at Warner Bros. Records . (1986 Publicity Dept....I talked with him & the whole band for about 35 minutes)...I was treated like family... I'll will always miss Eddie as a fellow musician & as a friend...R.I.P. Eddie !

You gave us more that we needed
Well, a lot of us were secretly hoping his health rumors were just rumors and he'd make this great comeback at some point and shock the world all over again. However, this is the worst shock imaginable. RIP Eddie, you inspired the world
Eddie always smiling when he playing. He's not died, he's jamming in Heaven now
Amen ! Him and Tom Petty are having a blast 😁
everytime eddie picked up the guitar was a legendary guitar moment Rip
Even the way he throws the pick into the crowd is cool!!
Well put
You goddamn right!
That's one hell of a beautiful comment
As beautiful as deep.
Rip eddie van halen. Rest in love in peace. The guitar GOD
