I bought my SQ5 from the dealership that you were at and I really like it, though I’m 6’4 and it’s difficult to get someone in the seat behind me. My cousin bought the BMW. She likes BMW and I like Audi. They are both nice cars and the performance difference isn’t that big. Yes, the BMW is faster, but on the street it isn’t much. I put on about 22,000 miles per year and the car is very comfortable for every day use. I can also get 30 miles per gallon or slightly higher on the highway. Before my cousin bought the BMW she had decided on the M version, but then drove it and thought the suspension was ridiculously hard. Plus, after driving the one she bought she decided 382 horsepower was plenty.
Spot on review! Im loving Adaptive Suspension and comfort mode in 2018 SQ5. Coming from 2014 SQ5 which was wonderful in corners, horrible for daily commute on crappy roads. Only thing I would add is 034 sway bars and stage one tune. Thats it, For now enjoying SQ5 all round abilities. 2024 looks awesome!
I had an X5. The day the warranty ended, it started requiring $1200-$1500 a month in maintenance every single month. Fuel pump, airbag sensor (both seats), airbag clock spring, radiator plastic end caps failed (new rad), brakes all around. It was endless, and soured me on the brand.
Ayyy my wife and i have bought 3 Audi’s from there! Great dealership! We just got a district green sq5! Great suv. Ya it’s not the fastest but it’s a great all around suv!! Also my wife can get 24-27 MPGS with here daily driving!
Just to point few mistakes made. Firstly, those wheels arent special for sq5 models but are available for every q5, red callipers as well can be optioned for a regular q5. Those are not OLED rear light, but the standard ones, but you can get OLED lights for this sq5 as well as for regular q5. And about interior lighting, it is available for sq5 and regular q5, however for some reason you did not option it. I watched about 5minutes of the video skipping around, and thats quite a few wrong facts that are important. Loved tour experience and insight but please in the future check the facts a bit more since there are probably quite a few more in the remaining parts of the video that I did not watch, keep the good work tho man!
Just bought the 2024 S Q5 with all the options and the price was $78k. We test drove the Q5, the GLC, and the Macan, and between them all the Audi was much more fun to drive. Not to mention the Macan seemed to slip in corners when breaking, which was really disappointing. The S Q5 grips the road and handles better than all of them.
Is it really cheaper though? Sure, the base price is cheaper, but what does a barebones sq5 look like compared to a $5k more m40i base? And how does the price scale once you start adding the options you want? Those are the questions buyers should be asking because a very small % of buyers will be purchasing a base build.
It’s definitely cheaper. BMW dealers wouldn’t budge on X3 M40i price but Audi was cutting thousands as soon as I started cross shopping and showing hesitation.
I owned a 2019 SQ5 and loved it but a few things that drove me nuts. No place to put my cell phone as you pointed out narrow slot is like an inch two short, do the engineers at audi ever actually drive around in their cars like normal people with an iphone because an iphone max doesn't fit. You can't put coins in it as its too narrow so I have no idea what that is for?? Cant tell with your video but my armrest used to slide forward when in use and it covered the cup holders which made no sense. I had ambient lighting in my 2019 so they must have taken that out. Curious if its on the prestige? Back seat room for two teenagers killed me so I had to upsize to a Lincoln aviator which has crazy tech but "American Tech". If the SQ7 wasn't insane expensive I would go that route. My prior car was the Audi S6 that had cylinder deactivation and I used to get 36mpg on the highway because of that so it killed the SQ5 in overall fuel economy. They should be able to get more than 21mpg combined with the SQ5 by incorporating cylinder deactivation down to a 4 cylinder on the highway when cruising.
Always. There is no VAT in the US. The US only has sales tax, and it varies depending on the city and state you are in. This is why you won't see US pricing that includes tax.
I own a 2020 SQ5. My best thing is the driving experience. My worst is the ownership experience. Although AUDI positions its brand in the luxury segment, its service experience is VW level. They sent me home and back in a Lyft ride when I had to leave it for service. BMW gave me a loaner. I asked that the outdated nav map be updated under warranty, they wanted $300. On the plus side they did wash the car. So would I buy an AUDI next time? Not if I could get a BMW at a good price!
I suppose your dealership experience is dependent on which dealership you use. I use Sewell Audi in north Houston Texas. Possibly the best dealership I’ve ever dealt with. Unlimited free car washes, cappuccino machine, almost always have a brand new Audi loaner car for even short maintenance items. very friendly staff.
Nice review, but I feel you’re out of touch with your comment about the zero to sixty time ?? Really, you’re not bothered by the 4.5 this isn’t a 911. It’s a sports suv. Respectfully.
Of the 3 SUV’s you mentioned, the SQ5 would be my 1st choice. But there are some things that I find questionable. The start/stop button and the radio volume knob are in weird spots. And the 3 storage units seem completely worthless. Not 1 Designer took out their smart phone to see where it would fit? The upgraded sport exhaust? They make us pay extra for something that should already have? At least the upgraded one has real exhaust pipes. It only took years for that to finally happen. With this price point, front ventilated seats should also be standard. But then Audi can’t figure out how to ventilate grey seats. Maybe have a Porsche (or even Honda) engineer stop by for a day. I feel like they were 95% done with the design then handed it off to a janitor to finish it off. Like the football player that’s running down the field for a touchdown and spikes the ball at the 1 yard line. You almost had an amazing car, but you dropped the ball at the last second.
Avoid the Q5s like the plague. The 7 speed transmission had an inherent fault which Audi are turning a blind eye to. Google Q5 transmission fault to see this is a long term serious issue with many Audi Models.
If only the Genesis GV70 had a performance model, it would definitely sweep the floor with everything in the segment. Great review, was just looking at a 23 SQ5.

I feel with the Audi it’s the safe purchase, the sound is perfect and the look is better than the other two and that’s probably for all models
defo not. Cheap VW trash. BMW on another league with full shadow line

SQ5 has all the excelleration you need.😊
The Audi exhaust and ride quality is on a whole different level than the X3. I wish I bought the Audi.

Wrong. In the UK you can only option red callipers on S and RS Audi models; much the same in the EU as well.

That mild hybrid system won’t give extra hp. It’s made to save some fuel when cruising.

Sadly.........NEXT it will get pulled into the shop within the first year.....All euros do this ..........get a LEXUS!

That narrow slot is designed for your car key I believe...
Nope, key fob drops and locks in a cup holder . The narrow slot is for lip balm or lipstick
How does the steering wheel feel, some say its light ???

Give the rsq5 the inline 5 engine from the rs3 that way they wont step on the macan.
Wait now you’re on to something….
I wonder why they don’t just use the 2.9tt
Excellent video!!
Interested to know if you like the look better than the Macan gts?
I know the gts is much stronger
awesome! very interesting, great review!

This can’t be the best edition. Mine has adjustable ambient lighting with different colors etc.
If Audi pushed the boundaries it would be so close to the Porsche the difference wouldn't be worth mentioning.
no it wouldnt lol

I’ve owned a Mki and mkii SQ5.
Mki was bulletproof mkii was dreadful, so much so I wouldn’t buy another Audi.
Bit chilly? Price Point not the same car. I have one it's a great car. BMW is a joke with pricing

Interior is really disappointing for an Audi.
It is indeed, I has to change from an 2023 A6 down to the Q5 and it feels a lot „cheaper“
