    Hey Bill, at least Pat kinda seemed to be into this. Maybe camera shy? Didn't crack a smile once. Mind you, when I'm doing my job, I'm all business too. Great job, can't wait to see this motor fire up!

    Man, I’ve always wanted to learn how to build engines😕

  • @CockBlockula

    reminds me of when i was building my 351w. Only thing is usually you should coat the cylinder walls with oil when dropping the pistons in.

  • @fordltd1983
    @fordltd1983 5 лет назад

    Bill.. weren't there supposed to be head bolt washers installed before the bolts go in since those heads are designed also for 351w with 1/2inch bolts. That bolt kit should have head washers that step down the 1/2 inch holes in the head to 7/16 so the bolts don't walk. I didn't see those go in.

  • @justinatnip

    No thread sealant on the head bolts that go into the water jackets?

  • @angry408w7
    @angry408w7 5 лет назад +3

    Good luck getting those lifters in with the heads on. A lot easier putting them in first...
    Forged crank in a stock 302 block? Why not go dart and pickle the original? You guys are cj pony parts correct? I think you would get a deep discount.

    • @cjponyparts
      @cjponyparts  5 лет назад +3

      They go in really easy on this setup, I thought about that when I held the head up and we checked quickly just to make sure. I would love a Dart block but it is not really in the budget, this is my personal car so I have a lot of money invested already and can't do everything I would want to. - Bill

    • @angry408w7
      @angry408w7 5 лет назад

      A forged crank is good insurance. Keep the boost to 8-9 and keep rpms down below 6000 and it should live for awhile.
      Its over on the outside cylinders you might have trouble Getting the lifters in. Depends on cylinder head and lifter manufacturer. If you got them in awesome.
      Maybe the thick head gasket helped out.
      Good luck with the build.

    i paused at 14:48 to see viscosity of oil..5w20..is this what youll use in crank case?

    • @cjponyparts
      @cjponyparts  5 лет назад

      No it was just an extra quart I had laying around and works for soaking the lifters.

    Did the top of the pistons have any indication of front of engine marks?

  • @danmallery9142
    @danmallery9142 5 лет назад

    I guess I don't understand why you wouldn't do a mild 331 stroker. Virtually the same price and keeping it to 331 at the stock block level it doesn't hurt longevity or cause any oiling issues. No huge extra machining costs at that stroke either. I guess 25 ci won't make an earth shattering difference but a little extra wouldn't hurt.

    • @cjponyparts
      @cjponyparts  5 лет назад

      Dan Mallery it was simply a matter of not focusing on as much HP as possible, the 331 would have been easy but would put more stress on the block. I wanted something solid and as reliable as possible.

    • @danmallery9142
      @danmallery9142 5 лет назад

      @@cjponyparts That's cool. I totally agree with you. That is why I thought only a 331 would still be in that realm of reliability.

    Which cam did you decide to go with?

    • @cjponyparts
      @cjponyparts  5 лет назад +3

      I went with a Ford Performance F303, old school I know. A custom would make more power but I always liked the F303 and went with it for nostalgia.

    What supercharger are you putting on?
    Are those heads the new version of the GT 40X?

    • @cjponyparts
      @cjponyparts  5 лет назад

      Vortech heritage series S trim. The X2 is the Street Cruiser head and is similar to the GT40X, it is designed for easy power and will work with stock valvetrain components.

      Nothing crazy, it should make right around 450-500 crank.

    I bought a ‘93 Cobra R model brand new and still had the plastic on the passenger seat when I took it to the drag strip. It was a fun car but it had the 351 in it. One of my biggest regrets was selling it.

    I loved the 93 cobra. I worked with a guy who had one. Went for many rides in it..he sold it for 11k back in 2001. Now a days . A 5.3LS on a China boi choo choo would be a nice upgrade for it.
