i'm a bit of a rambler and not great at reviews, hoping to get better at this with practice 😬 honestly this book might have ruined the rest of the #asianreadathon for me because i'm still a wreck after this ending and i don't know how i'm going to come back from this.

I didn’t care for rin and nezha I was heartbroken about the cike:( Baji Suni Qara and Ramsa plus Altan deserved so much better. Rin was such a puppet and I’m shocked how none of them saw vaisras betrayal coming

I am also a BIG nezha and rin shipper i won't shut up about it to my sister!! Kitay is an amazing character and i love that he always tells rin when she is wrong. he's just as stubborn as her and i LIVE for it. I was so so crushed when Suni and Baji died i wanted to cry though I knew they were :( I could tell when they were being so kind to her I just KNEW it was going to hurt if/when they died. Ramsa too I hate it here.
SPOILER ? opinion/prediction about book 3
i have no idea where this idea popped into my head, but since book one i've always seen Kitay kind of like a parallel and more rational Jiang and associated him with that kind of "gatekeeper" vibe. after they're anchored or linked and Rin finds out about the trifecta being linked I wondered what if Kitay, Rin and Nezha also link? like what if they become the next trifecta. Honestly, it doesn't make much sense considering where the direction is going considering Nezha is more than likely just going to have to fight Rin next book, but i want to kind of cling to the thought or hope of them three being the next trifecta. it's hard to pin how this will play out since there's so much opposition and not just one enemy, you have the republic, the hesperians, the fall out of the federation AND the ketreyids so i don't think they'll even be time for it lmao

I think a reason why i know for sure this is one of my favourite series is because of how much i love it despite not liking rin
i feel like you're right, and rin wanting people to tell her what to do is something i tend to do as well, but i'm also not a military fantasy protagonist

I started this series knowing the trilogy wasn't finished and never have I regretted it more because I need that third book ASAP!
Nezha and Rin BELONG TOGETHER but man did I see that backstabbing coming but it still destroyed me omg. Wondering if Nezha is going to pull a Zuko and go over to Rin's side in the next book. I feel like that's not going to happen but I can dream. Also yeah I agree with your theory on Riga being in that grotto. Have you read the short story on the grotto?
Also the interactions between them and Kitay were so good. So excited for the Burning God!
i will die on this ship i don't even care 😭 i haven't read the short story yet, is that the one in the anthology about dragons?? i hope it comes out on its own cos i wasn't planning on getting the anthology but if my library has it i might have to check it out just to read that one story!
@@tammietriestoread yes the one in the anthology. apparently Kuang said it was like the AU version of nezha's and his backstory/context for where he grew up so which I assume is connected to Riga somehow. LOL after I finished the books I straight up picked them back up to reread the rinezha interactions I think I'm a tad obsessed.

@@tammietriestoread Yeah ik. I starred reading the same day. And now The Burning God is also over. I knew Rin would die, but this hurt too. But Rin was not fit to reign, ig, that was always for Nezha .

I know the book is grim dark, is about a horrible war et cetera BUT I would love so much to see rin and nezha together :((( I don't think it is going to be possible due to how the burning god ends and even more after I read the drowning faith... nezha seems so resigned to never being with rin at all IDK I FEEL SO SAD

Rin is evil 👿 and self-serving. She always thinks about herself first and foremost. So many people somehow love her and trust her only to be failed again and again. She does not ever think about the greater good or commits to actions that help in where sympathy is required. Whenever she even gets close to pitying and thinking about others, she pushes and hides that feeling deep down buried somewhere. She makes mistakes after mistakes even though she is a “smart” sinegard graduate. How do I root for a character like that?!
I wanted Rin and Jinzha to end up. I pity Nezha.... Poor guy...
