The hydra battle would be amazing if remastered for 4K. I remember playing this game back in 2005 and being totally blown away by the hydra fight. What a way to start the game. GOW1 was so ahead of its time it’s crazy.

I recently played Ascension which is regarded as the worst GoW game and even that game has beautiful visuals, detailed backgrounds, epic music, and massive bosses (Alecto's Charybdis form ranks in my top 10 GoW boss fights). GoW is one of those rare series that has never made a bad game. Even Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, and Street Fighter have had a couple stinkers.

They actually had a boss planned during the part where you are fighting to get across the room where the grounds moved let and right before getting Pandora’s box. They had a dragon planned to guard it after you crossed, but scratched it because of time constraints. Sucks because we didn’t get nearly enough boss fights.

You can beat the ogre bosses (which are 90% of the bosses) with simple hit hit roll around technique, rinse repeat, without even seeing what's going on. The dragon boss is 100% just spectacle.

Kratos's need to get vengeance truly was unmatched. Ares took the blades and magic away while fully exploiting Kratos's trauma and greatest failure and Kratos still wins that fight.
God Of War has a spectacular graphics for the time it came out. Just see the first boss how well done and detailed he is. God Of War games have always had wonderful graphics that push the full potential of the console on which it runs.

Now that I think about it; even if Ares killed Kratos in this one, he probably would've gone ahead and done everything that Kratos did in the next two games.
Now that I think about it, Kratos is one of the few people that realized impaling the head of a hydra with a sharp stick is a better strategy than lopping it off.

It's the remastered PS3 edition. The original PS2 game pretty much looked like this but with 480p resolution. It's pretty amazing what they achieved with PS2 hardware.
