    Bro what a sesh! That look of Stoke of your face is what skateboarding is all about. Such a long boardslide on that rail then the rail next to the steps looked like a big drop but you nailed it…
    The manual along and off the block was rad and I must mention the 4 set, glad you did them and you made it look effortless. I would like to find a nice 5 set next so that’s our challenge if you’re up for it.
    Age is indeed just a number and I’m 48 in a couple weeks time 🤘🏻

      Thanks Simon! I'm definitely up for another stair set!! I'll start looking for one. This was by far one of my favorite parks so far even though it lacked a mini ramp. I could probably spend a few weeks here I think. Thanks again and talk soon!

      Indeed. After an injury and a time of abstinence I spent my time surfskating - until I came across a new miniramp a few weeks back and couldn't help myself to try a drop in with my battleship of a surfskate after not having "properly skated" for 12+ years. I was quite surprised to find certain basics as rock to fakie (so much more difficult on a surfskate which isn't meant to roll fakie whatsoever), rock'n'rolls, stand-up/5-0 stalls and stuff like that still locked in.
      The next day I purchased a new popsicle setup, wristguards (don't want to break it once again 😅) and for the first time ever even a helmet to get into transition skating again age 37.
      Just now I begin to realize how much I have missed it.
      Enjoy skating and take care - greetings from Berlin! 🤜🤛

      Thanks!!! Super fun park, highly recommend. It only lacks a mini ramp or halfpipe/bowl area. If you're cool without that, it is super fun. All the obstacles are mellow, the concrete is smooth, and all ledges have metal coping (square). I went there this past Saturday super early. The first skater showed up around 9am and was super nice. If you have kids, the kids' park next to it looks fun and has a huge splash pad.

I haven't got them down to the point I can share tips, but if anything thats been helping is coming at them almost straight on and keeping eyes on the spot where I'm landing to start the 5050. After that it's an awkward game of what to do with my feet to get off the ledge, thats the part thats messing me up. In time we'll both get these!💪

      Thanks! I got really lucky finding this park, a lot of them are hit or miss around here. Either super burly and steep or somewhat mellow with no rails. This one was just right, the super long little rail was like 10" or less off the ground so even falling wouldn't take you out for a few days. It's funny though because I love the bowls in your videos they seem to have some good flow.

    Happy b'day dude!! And some nice board slides there!!
    I'm curious how ya rails are attached? I've been watchin a 53 yr old beginner, vintage skate's his channels name and he wants to change his rails but says the screw heads have all been ground down from rail sliding a concrete curb. He said he only got wood screws with em and they must be screwed on from the bottom of the rail. I'm guessin he screwed em on upside down and the screw heads should be on top of the board where they won't get destroyed. But back in the day they were held on by bolts with the bolt head on top on the board and the nuts inside a hole in the rail. I think the same nuts and bolts that hold ya trucks on. So just wondering if yours are screws or nuts and bolts? 🤟🙂

    • @OldBrokenSkater
      @OldBrokenSkater  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks bro!! Mine are screws sadly. All the new rails are unfortunately like that, they use tiny wood screws. To be honest I'm still amazed they hold the rails on they are sooo tiny. I can definitely see them being ground down since they screw from the bottom, this is because they are so tiny and probably go through maybe 2 layers of ply so the new rails wouldn't be able to screw from the top. Not sure when skateboarding dropped what is called the "sex bolt" but that is what we used way back in the day to attach rails and skids. These are the ones you remember, which are definitely a way better design. I assume that skaters didn't want to drill holes in there popsicle shapes or the industry just phased them out with new shapes. You can still find these bolts, they are considered "hard to find" but I've seen them on a couple sites.

    • @28russ
      @28russ 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@OldBrokenSkater Wow, that's a ridiculous design. I skated for about 15 years but never actually used rails. They went outta fashion once the popsicles came in and ya couldn't get em anymore. My first board was an old Mike McGill I got off a mate but everything after that was a popsicle. The rails have made a come back now but with a different design by the sound of it. I'd drill em out and put the sex bolts in. Half the point of em was they were replicable. And the rail will hold the board together. Shit, I had a big stack of broken boards all broken at the tail anyway lol. But if ya just sliding rails I suppose it doesn't matter much anyway. The old guys been tryin to slide a rough curb with bugger all wax on it. I keep tellin him, wax, wax and some more wax and now he's gettin some slide out of it lol.
      I haven't skated for about 15 years but I'm thinkin of tryin to make a comeback. It seems to be a trend lately. They built an awesome new park in town down here in Oz and I'm hangin to skate it. Not sure it's a great idea though lol. I'm only 46 but age's not exactly just a number when ya backs completely f'd with arthritis from too many crappy jobs bending over too much and taking f'ing slams lol. I'm technically disabled but I do too much sittin around though so I should at least go for a cruise and see how I go, but the last time I did an ollie I put my bloody back out. It was a good ollie though. I still had it lol. Anyway, thanks for the reply and I'll chuck ya a sub mate. 🤟🙂

    • @OldBrokenSkater
      @OldBrokenSkater  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yea its a real bummer looking at some of the evolution of skating as far as products. My first board ever was a powell peralta with gullwing trucks and some awesome slimeballs. If I got a reissue I would definitely set it up with the og rail bolts. You can definitely try and make a comeback, maybe just try out cruising park transitions, nothing aggressive ya know. My back is shot probably not as bad as yours and knees are trash from the military time, some days I just like to cruise. The days I skate hard I'm off for 2 days to let the joints come back to life 😂. Any way hopefully one day you get out there! Thanks for the sub, welcome to my crazy skating and sometimes surfing journey! Cheers talk soon!🤟

    Hi man! Love your style!
    33 years old here, started skating 3 month ago. How is your knee pain after a session?

    • @OldBrokenSkater
      @OldBrokenSkater  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi!!! It's not bad at all. The first few weeks starting out, my knees ached if I skated for 30-45 minutes. I tried to space out my sessions, skating one day and then taking the next off. This definitely helped reduce any ache/pain. By keeping the on-off schedule, now I can skate 1-2 hours until my body is cooked. Now, if I skate street mainly, like in this video, I wouldn't have to take a day off. However, on the days I skate ramp/transition only, I really need the day off to recover. It's not from pain, more just soreness and sometimes stiffness in my left knee. I think just skating ramps only is a bit more strenuous on the knees. My left is the weakest; it's been repaired multiple times. I try to do things to strengthen the muscles around my knee, like air squats, calf raises, leg raises, and more. I also try to stretch from time to time and just keep a schedule of skating sessions. It's like my "workout routine" without weights, a gym, and all that other stuff. The most knee pain I've felt so far was from a day I surfed 2 hours, then forced myself to skate later in the day. That's just a whole different ball game. Anyways, sorry for the long response. If you ever have any other questions, feel free to ask away

      @@OldBrokenSkater Hi! Sorry for the late reply!
      Anyway, started skating from zero 3/4 hours per day but was too much for my knees.
      Now I’m alternating a 30/40 minutes session with a day off where I do streching and isometric exercises and I feel way more “painless”.
      Sorry for my bad american, I’m from Italy

    • @OldBrokenSkater
      @OldBrokenSkater  5 месяцев назад

      No worries at all! Sounds like you have a good plan now, 30-40 minutes I think is a pretty good time for sessions. Then you are doing pretty much the same thing as me, stretching and additional exercises. I would say this type of "routine" is what helped the most with the pain and session progression. I also found that some stretching before and after the skate sessions helps also. Keep at it and hope you're enjoying the skating. Also your America is great!

      No way!!!!! Plenty of others are just starting or getting back in after decades of not doing it. I'd get a board (second-hand if you can) and just start rolling around, getting a sense of balance, and just getting comfortable on a skateboard. Don't focus too much on tricks or a single trick, just learn the board and be patient with yourself. We have a bunch of new skaters, from all walks of life, on this channel who are just starting out or are already a year into it, and they all love it!
