As someone who misses the older imagineer rides, all of Epcot Center included, its a shame but we will never see Disney rides like this again. At the time this was the best technology available, telling stories through animatronic dioramas with dialogue. With the creative powerhouse behind Disney they created some of the most awe inspiring rides that stimulated imaginations, young and old. Since then technology has progressed to the point that computers create these new rides. Graphic scenes projected onto a super HD screen with bright visuals and loud sounds. Everything thats stimulates the senses but nothing that intrigues the mind.
It seems that Disney forgot the power of imagination and thought. Entertainment lasts for the moment, an idea lasts a lifetime.
This was my daughters favorite ride at Disney. She made us go so many times the cast members got to know us by name.
These older rides just made you feel good when you got off them....you felt optimistic about what you saw and felt excited to what was possiable on the horizon. (Sigh) But alas as the crowds change so must the rides. Oh well at least we will always have RUclips.
gm wanted new ride.
Thank you for putting the original 1982 EPCOT entrance music in this video.
That's one of my favorite symphonies. I can never get sick of this music.
I miss this ride :(
Gary Owens!!!! I'm a child of the 80's and I love Gary. I miss this ride so much. Horizons, living seas, journey into imagination. Good Times
I remember this ride when I was a small child like it was yesterday! I'm now 39 ...this was a great ride
WONDERFUL... Thank you so much for uploading all these. I remember World of Motion from my childhood very well and I think it's unforgivable that they removed a ride like this. Epcot was more fun and more educational in the 80's and early 90's than today.
Noelia28 now it's just stupid Test Track and Mission space. so sad that they just destroy so many fun memories to 'make way for the future'.
I was ok with Test Track replacing World of Motion. But it's a shame Mission Space had to replace Horizons. I have heard Mission Space has not been a popular attraction at all.
Disney was pressured by GM to change the ride or they'll lose sponsorship.
I really thing they should bring it back. It's a HISTORY LESSON!!!!
Man I wish there were hi-definition, low-light cameras back then.
He still did good job with what was available 👍
I just don't know how they can bring themselves to destroy these rides. I just think of all that the imagineers went through creating them, and all the work that went into building them.
I Agree Totally!!! Just think, The time that went into designing these rides along with the construction workers who built these structures, blood, sweat, and tears, Lost Forever! Let us not forget that just because something is old doesn’t mean it's bad! And needs to be demolished! It needs to be maintained so that future generations know that there was pride in America! And that if we put our differences aside, that yes, the future can be bright!!!
Technology changes, tastes change, sponsors change... I enjoy Test Track and Mission space but have many fond memories of World of Motion and Horizons. I really miss Wonders of Life and the original version of Journey to Imagination. People (myself included) hated the 2nd version of the Tiki Room but the truth was that attendance had been declining for years before they made the change (I was very happy they brought the original back). Personally, I'd think that with the advances made in virtual technology Disney could bring back classic attractions in at least some form.
cause general motors didnt want to keep the ride so they asked for a new ride or lose their sponsorship.
Money sad to say it I really am.
Thanks for bringing me back to one of my favorite rides in Epcot. Well done video! I appreciate all the work you've done making these videos.
Wow! Beautiful image at the end of Horizons as see on the World of Motion Ramp, and yo make it extra special it at night!!!! Very found memories, thanks for a fantastic video
Another GREAT video! And Thanks for capturing “Bird and the Robot” one of my absolute favorite shows!
Epcot was the bomb back then, whether you were boarding a time machine, Horizons 1, Bravo 229, etc. it would always be a great experience. Now I think boarding a Space Simulator and Test vehicles don't compare.
Great video. Thank you for the 1982 EPCOT entrance music. I forgot that in the ride, you traveled in the world of TRON.
Thank you for the wonderful ride through.
Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the wonderful world of motion! I love the centercore and the music!! I was born in 2001 and WOM closed in 1996 to make room for test track!!
This is one of the best videos as well as attraction that can be remembered. Thank you. Every trip, and I mean everytrip to Epcot was this ride! It was fun to hear my parents comment on the 40's and later, Dad would always wave at the cop behind the Billboard. Again, thank you for preserving this lost bit of history.
Of the classic Future World attractions, I missed CommuniCore and World of Motion during my visit. Thanks for posting this.
The world of motion was my fourth favorite ride at epcot. I liked learning about the history of transportation from walking upright to futuristic means of transportation like hover cars.
Still one of my favorite rides ever. So sad to see it go; thanks so much for posting!
I wish I could’ve seen this ride. It looks so fun! Thanks for helping to show what it looked like.
Because of the large number of human animatronics, and because none of them had to speak, only a few faces were created, then re-used multiple times throughout the ride.
Thank you so much for sharing this...World of Motion was my very favorite ride in all of Disney, and I was heartbroken to find out that they removed it. This video brings back so many wonderful memories! My last ride on World of Motion was at Christmastime in 1993, and I was also there at Christmastime in 1984. From what I've seen and read in recent years, it sure doesn't seem that Disney World and Epcot are anything like the glorious gems they were in the 80s and 90s...I really wish there was a time machine so one could go back to the good old days and enjoy the classic, fun, educational, entertaining rides like World of Motion!
wonderful documentary.Thank you for this trip back in time.Never understood why they took this ride away.
This attraction had Ward Kimball written all over it! I was grinning through the whole video! Up until the end :( excellent video!!!
I loved this ride.
Thanks so much for the tribute.
I love the 1982 EPCOT Entrance music.
I really miss it.
excellent video thank you for bringing back the memories!
It's always fun to see such a detailed account of something I last rode when I was 5. Also, just a heads-up, your tribute to the original Journey into Imagination has been blocked in my country. I'm not sure why, but you might want to look into that.
One of my favorite rides :(
Great video!! Thanks!
Even if they didn't bring the ride back, I wish they'd bring back centercore city, just as a simple "walk-in" attraction. Enter a darkened room and peer in through some windows. I miss that model so much. 3 decades later, the wide-eyed child in me is still waiting to travel there.
Jakin Irali / Tim the Enchanter They pay tribute to it though in the 2012 Re Imagined Test Track
Some of them became Pirates in Disneyland's version of Pirates of the Caribbean in 1997. The chickens became part of the Barnstormer at the Magic Kingdom and some the figures are on display in the prop warehouse on the Backlot Tour at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The Sea Serpent was moved and put on display in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure.
I wonder where the Sea Serpent is now since that is now Cars Land.
Stuff has definitely been shifted around since it’s now 2024.
I know i was on this as a kid, because we have pics from the inside, but i don't remember a thing about it except the cars going up in the spiral outside. Wish i could have gone on it again...
around 9:30 look at the reflection in the back of the omnimover and check out the size of the camcorder.
Yeah, you see all these cars in the after-show and think "why weren't these 'future cars' made into production?" Just odd it never happened...
love this :) thank you
I still remember as a kid trying all the cars out i know the pickup truck I couldnt get the seat to stay up :P. I loved the corvette and the convertibles
that bull use to make me so nervous as a kid lol. I always thought it was real
I wish Disney would make more rides like these again. Rides that aren’t based off of movies. Pirates and Haunted Mansion weren’t based off of films.
If watch the Test Track video it explains why. Both Disney and General Motors wanted a new attraction.
They moved the chickens to the barn at Goofy's Barnstormer at the former Toontown Fair in the Magic Kingdom after World of Motion closed.
yay! I always thought that was WOM logo but was never sure.
I believe they did show clips of a Goofy cartoon during the scene of the cars beside all those screens (just before the Speed Room). It's probably, appropriately enough, that one called "Goofy's Freeway Troubles".
Weird random question...do you know how often Disney has to clean the clothes of the animatronic characters?
is there any little reminders of World Of Motion in Test Track?
I hate to say it, because I am otherwise a huge proponent of original rides (especially Epcot), but this was one I am sort of ok that they got rid of. Was quite a low-energy, old-school ride, and those cars moved so slow! Although the future city at the end was cool, it seems the main attraction was just a bunch of animatronics which many looked like they were recycled from the Pirates of the Caribbean. I wish some of the craftsmanship could have been saved with the ride they replaced it with, and I really appreciate the "edutainment" aspect of this ride, but I agree that something a little more exciting was needed. Test Track 1.0 was thrilling and practical/educational enough, but I feel they really lost the vision with Test Track 2.0, as there is no real-world practical connection and more like a make-believe video game.
The logo is hidden before the cars go outside :)
Please They Need To Bring World of Motion To Tokyo DisneySea's Future Land: An Upcoming and Technological Innovation Themed Port Area
