- Continuing my brand new re edits of EPCOT Center, see the history and origins of the Transportation Pavilion. See it develop in the GM pavilion, how it was designed and see how the pavilion, ride and exhibits were laid out.
Next is a full construction section, charting its progress from ground break to opening.
And then take a full multi camera, detailed full ride from walk in to exit. All material has been enhanced where possible, all projection flicker reduced or eliminated. This is accompanied by a new source and clean live stereo audio mix.
After unloading, walk into Transcenter for a full tour. Highlights include a full multi angle Bird and the Robot show with clean live audio and a full widescreen multi angle, tripod shot The Water Engine show with source audio.
67 minutes long. Развлечения
Long live classic Epcot, long live Martin for putting these out!!!!
World of Motion was one of my favorite rides at Epcot. It’s sad that it only lasted 14 years. As popular as it was, you would think that they could have updated it over time, and even still incorporated a version of Test Track, without losing the original ride. I guess they didn’t want to go in that direction. I appreciate that tributes like yours exist so that we can continue to relive these great Epcot rides into the future.
Looks like you are gettting your wish. Test Track undergoing refurbishing soon and is getting back to World of Motion theme.😀
Back when Epcot had a purpose and wasn't just another theme park.
My god these rides were made to stay but god darn general motors pulled out and kocky luminarti other business wouldnt sponsor cause of ego and rides taken out.
@@guygrip4303leave it to modern Disney to suck the personality out of everything. At least we still have Spaceship Earth and Living with the Land.
@@cclmpr I said good day
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Great work, always enjoy-- and especially the music. I just have to say how it saddens me to see what Epcot has become today. The golden era of this park, I feel, has passed. It seems that the once audience that came to be entertained and inspired, a la' Disney, has been replaced by massive crowds wanting a quick thrill, trendy merchandise- and a Fast Pass. Plus, technology is probably outpacing what can feasibly be demonstrated in a worlds fair pavilion-type setting. World of Motion and Horizons were the pinnacle of what Epcot Future World was and if Spaceship Earth wasn't so size restricted (and iconic) that would have likely been long gone too. Anyway, your videos pay tribute to a tremendous effort in art, design, and technology- and the extremely talented people that made it happen in the glory days. It's fun to be free!
Dang this was a massive building.
It still is too for that matter
So many childhood memories unlocked! New EPCOT pales in comparison... everything is character based and projection. I'm surprised spaceship earth has survived. 😭
As a kid we were able to go up to the GM lounge because of someone we knew. It was really nice up there. They had free drinks and snacks. Then when you were ready to go downstairs they let you use a back elevator where you could get on the ride without waiting in line
This really opens a floodgate of memories. Hearing the music, Gary Owens voice and seeing those parts of the ride that have been long forgotten, bring back the happy feeling I used to get when I went on this ride. It's an amazing feeling of nostalgia. Thanks so much for doing such a wonderful presentation.
Yep! Space Ghost is doing the narration! A modern remake of the ride should have George Lowe narrate.
Thank you for yet another fantastic video. This attraction was more Disney, timeless, relevant, family friendly!! Test track holds nothing over this attraction. All they had to do was update it periodically to reflect the new years.
Test Track was added because Disney felt EPCOT needed a thrill ride…
Something that could appeal to older audiences. And World of Motion, well… It wasn’t raking in the crowds as it had in its early years. But even with the replacement of World of Motion, Test Track retains the transportation theme, albeit with more focus on cars than just transportation in general.
The original 1999 Test Track placed emphasis on the near future of transportation by showing how modern cars were put through their paces. And the current version leans more into the future aesthetic by showing how concept cars are designed and how virtual reality (the SimTrack) allows designers to simulate the various conditions a car has to face during operation.
As a kid growing up in Orlando in the 80’s and 90’s my family went on this hundreds of times and it never got old but it was always Very surreal
A slow ride like World of Motion evolving into a high-octane, fast ride called Test Track is QUITE an evolution! How I wished I could've visited Epcot as a kid of the 90s. At least then, Disney was all about original attractions in its sister parks instead of ride adaptations of existing shows or movies.
The 80s and 90s, were pretty epic. It was more low key, relaxing. No apps to worry about. I'm sorry you didn't get to experience it. That was the hay day in my opinion. Lots of rides were just so cool, and Epcot was more of a place to learn about history, science, and the future.
@@renrukachan I was a 90s-raised kid, but my only experience in any Disney park in that decade was Disneyland. My folks didn’t have the time or money to fly to Orlando to experience this true heyday. At least RUclips provides such places of that era.
@@twist58 yea, we lived in Florida so we were able to go once a year for summer trips. I've never been to Disneyland though, its on my bucket list!
TBH, Disney has always done a mix between originals and adaptions for their parks. No matter the era or time.
@@Sorcerer-SMC That doesn't seem to be the case anymore. The last original ride they built was Expedition Everest in 2006. Everything since has been attached to IP
I always felt this was the best ride at Epcot. The thrill ride that replaced it couldn't begin to compete!
While I do enjoy Test Track, I very much miss this ride. This was definitely one of my go-to's whenever I visited the park (which was plenty once I moved to Orlando). It was a lot of fun entertainment. The Water Engine was my show of choice. I remember I started to watch other screens when it wasn't their turn to talk (e.g. the superhero who did the Electro-Magnet engine had imagines of a doll with needles in it when the little girl put holes in his idea). Interesting that while burning the hydrogen was an option, using it with a fuel cell wasn't (at least, not in the show). I was also curious why GM didn't try to actually market the Lean Machine. Of all of their ideas, that one seemed closest to being marketable. They had some cool ideas for the future.
It is always amazing to me how I seem to remember things from the 80s, when I was a kid, better than I remember what I did yesterday. I vividly remember the feeling of moving out of the load area and into the spiral that lead to the show upstairs. It was so unique for a ride to leave the building for a few moments. I also remember getting as close to the front rail of the bird and robot show as I could each time my father and I visited the pavilion. I would count down with bird as the show began. Another great video as always Martin. I'm playing catch up today on some of your more recent ones and I feel like I'm back home in the EPCOT of the 80s. :)
Thank you Martin. I miss this ride greatly and its a shame it go replaced. I love the use of animatronics. Ward Kimball did a fantastic job designing this ride.
I haven't heard this soundtrack for DECADES. Thank you!!!
I would just like to THANK YOU for all of these Disney videos you do!!!!! I am in CONSTANT pain & will ALWAYS be for the rest of my life. One of the techniques I do to help me not focus directly on the pain is Disney videos/music/mental visits. Your videos help me so much!!!! You are a hero in my life. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!! These help me SOOOOO MUCH!!!
Being a Disney fanatic, I absolutely love every video you've made. Very educational. Keep up the good work! 👍
I am so glad these pavilions are documented here for posterity.
When Disney parks were entertaining, educational, fun and affordable. Gods, I miss those days.
And cheeky!
Another triumph in Martin's videography. Can't wait to see JII in the future!
Amazing how the Pavillion changed in design
Wow! This is the first of your videos I have seen. I went to Epcot a few months after it opened and is one of the great experiences of my life. Your beautifully produced video brings it all back, more than going back to today’s Epcot. Thank you!
Another excellent video Martin! I love how comprehensive it is. I very much loved watching it. Thanks for your hard work!
Thanks for another wonderful Walt Disney World history of a long gone gem. Well done!!!
Fantastic work as always, Martin! I eagerly await the Journey into Imagination tribute
Damn you know how to satisfy my nostalgia! Love these videos!
Thank you for your work. With the Universe of Energy closing there's almost nothing remaining from my first trip in '83.I guess we (EPCOT & I) both got old.
I have very recently discovered your video's and I must say they are ,"Amazing." Keep up the fantastic work. I have a lot more to check out.
I am so impressed with the amount of content and the quality of these videos. So much work goes into these, and it shows. Thank you, and keep it up!
Man, these are great tributes. Thanks for putting it together!
The unmistakable voice of Gary Owens is our narrator
This is brilliant and much improved Martin. Thank you and it still brings back memories of 1982!
Thank you for archiving all of these interesting videos and audio for future generations to find.
very good quality presentation.
Just re-watched this (again). Just fabulous.
Wonderful attention to detail as always Martin. Thanks!
Thank you SO much for posting this! I miss World of Motion terribly, along with all the other wonderful classic rides at Epcot. The park pales in comparison to what it once was. And now they’ve done away with Future World completely. ☹️
Another fantastic video!! All your videos are great thanks for making them!!!
I loved the visual effects near the end of the ride, in the tunnels.
Amazing how easy it is memories from youth to merge a bit. Scenes from Horizons and World of Motion got pushed into the Spaceship Earth in my head. Was a bit surprised when I rode that in 2008 (after 7 years of not going to Disney) and didn't see these scenes.
My favorite part about the world of motion ride was seeing the animatronic camel and other animals that were domesticated and used for transportation they even had a zebra and an ostrich. So I thought that the world of motion ride was awesome and amazing thanks for the memories.
The music is making me nostalgic for a time I never lived in. This ride closed EXACTLY 2 months before I was born. It makes me cry, hearing the music, because I'm overwhelmed with nostalgia.
Sad it didn't last a couple more years. It would be hilarious hearing Gary Owens' voice knowing that he was in the Space Ghost Coast to Coast episode "Warren."
Gary Owens voice was infamous in the 60s and 70s. I’m glad Disney got him to narrate the ride
Glorious - thank you!!!
Great video. Thank you.
Awesome! Horizons will always be my all-time favorite ride at Disney, and people still talk (duly) about the original Journey into Imagination, but I've always felt that World of Motion and the original incarnation of Spaceship Earth don't get near the due they deserve. I live in Birmingham, AL, so maybe I'm just particularly sensitive to an administration that doesn't understand or fully document unique buildings and attractions before demolishing them, but MAN, I wish Disney would have had the foresight to capture some of these rides in a VR-style, or maybe something that could be hobbled into such. If anyone ever had the foresight to do something like that, you'd think it'd be the staff at WDW. Later generations will only be able to hear about how cool EPCOT was, especially when compared to Epcot, and watch tributes and ultimately low-quality, non-interactive videos on RUclips. That kinda kills me.
This was far and away my favorite Epcot ride as kid. I had a genuine affection toward it, and I’m sure many were truly saddened to see it come down, myself included. Hard to believe that all just went into the trash. I chase after some of that original 80s Epcot high these days but I fear some of the comments aren’t entirely inaccurate that it has lost some of its soul. 😢
Thank you for doing such a killer job preserving these memories!
Epcot was something so different from the magic kingdom, you had 14 to 20 minute ride that were funny and educational. Now it’s all IP while I love the thrills and the IP I wish they would bring back at least one ride that had the esthetics of the old Epcot, I am looking at you Figment!
This is amazing thank you!
Oh man.... yeah I see why this one was shut down quickly and quietly. The turn of the century scenes were really good. Miss those.
legend m8, pure legend!
Heck yeah another ultimate tribute vid!:D
Excellent !!!!
10:15 Hidden Mickey
I would say that if this ride would survived, I would have visit it a hundred times.
I was in line for Test Track last night, and thinking to myself- "Boy, would this crowd be bored to tears if this was still World of Motion." All because everyone today is so wired to flashy, ADHD-catering attractions. Although I do have to say, of all the original Epcot attractions, this one I think would have aged the worst: I mean it was mostly a bunch of recycled Pirates of the Caribbean audio-animatronics, animated screen projections, very slow moving cars, and the dry-humor narration. While I wish it was still here, I think it could have definitely benefited from some kind of enhancements/refurbishments to make it just a little more exciting if it had stayed over the years.
okay boomer
Just make a new version with more engaging scenes, the addition of trains (less propaganda), George Lowe as the narrator, and a faster speed.
awesome!
It's fun to be free

The best attraction at Epcot, hugely creative, innovative, fun and interesting, as well as worth any wait in line... Sadly replaced by a thrill ride, forgotten far more quickly than the long wait lines... Sadly, this seems to be the trend. But thanks to your work, I can continue to enjoy this ride. Maybe you can do one for the Great Movie Ride! Thank you!
Margaret Hanson Movie Ride? Already done!
Thanks, right after I posted the comment, I saw the link and watched every second....loved it!!!! So very precious! Thank you again!
goodbye great movie ride 1989-2017 :(
As always, amazing tribute! Can you please do one for the Mickey Mouse Revue from 1971 Magic Kingdom at some point?
44:49 Toyota was watching...looks like a Prius.
I remember from 1986 trip to Epcot
They never would have predicted we would have cars we can actually plug in and charge, yet this is the reality now
My Dad would get motion sickness on this ride . He never got sick on test track.
Would I take this over Test Track??? ABSOLUTELY!!!
It's fun to be free!
i'm sure i remember hearing that an unpaid intern was given the job of coming up with all the different musical versions of the theme song. what i remember most about this ride was the huge number of gags - more than any other ride, i think.
Much better ride that what it is today
This way my favorite attraction.
34:28 What the- What's the Dreamcatcher doing there?!
Interesting. A ride not intended to market a princess character.
This building looked like it was WAY more suited for Wonders of Life. The dark ride upstairs would take you through the human body: the circulatory system where you pass through a valve in the heart; wind effects as you go through the respiratory system; getting rocked around as you are in the digestive system; and then you end up in the nervous system with electricity effects coming from a giant brain as you descend. The lower areas would have a theatre to explain the reproductive system, a display/shooting game against viruses for the immune system, Cranium Command to showcase the endocrine (hormone) system, and interactive games for the skeletal and muscular systems. As well as a restaurant for nutrition stuff.
While I much prefer Test Track, I admit I kinda miss this ride.
Real shame these sorts of epic dark rides have mostly all disappeared. Oh well. Good news though is that these sorts of rides do transfer over to virtual reality very well. I know as I am Imagineering a VR Theme Park with half the park containing rides like these but all original content and they really make you feel like you are on an Epic dark ride..
The golden age of EPCOT! Oh how I miss it. Sad that I look at some of those scenes and think how offended some people would be.
I miss the old epcot slow moving rides
I feel like this was boring but it was a good Epcot attraction, nice work Martin
The end of the ride was the automotive area, there was one vehicle I liked, it was a cross between a motorcycle and a car.. the lean machine
17:04 I see the ride vehicles have covers on them for some reason, was that to protect them from and dust?
I miss the Epcot of the 1980s and 1990s. Yeah, it's outdated by today's standards, but it was fun.
It doesn't seem long ago going to Epcot the month it opened as a kid but then I hear the scratchy sound of the World of Motion promotional guy and I realize I'm old as hell now. Ugh...
Just as I entered Test track, is this fate?
yes
TheManofthefuture101 try and find the world of motion logo, which is displayed before you board your vehicle.
@@epcotman32 Also, during the outside part, you'll notice that a sign that reads "FN2BFRE", which is a nod to this ride's theme song!
Funny thing is, Bill from Test Track (at least the 1.0 version) voiced Mentok on Harvey Birdman, just like Gary Owens here was Space Ghost.
Who would downvote this?
I know people think this ride isn't timeless in today's society but I think Epcot could have used to expand behind the pavilions with new experiences while keeping the core attractions similar to their original concept, just with updates on technology. Just as they did with living with the land. World of motion could've remained the message while adding test track behind it as an added experience. Same thing with horizons.
Classic ride. Not a cheap thrill. I miss the old Disney.
First off...you are my hero! Long time viewer, first time poster. I recently made a WDW family vacation video scrapbook, and you were my inspiration. I would love to share it with you, but i don't want to make it too public. is there any way that i could PM you my work and get some constructive criticism?
Chad Baker thank you :) you can email me with address at the end of the video
It's fun to be free
To be on the move
To go anywhere with ever a care to
Do all you've wanted to do
It's fun to be free
Guess What! This Ride is Actually Returning, but it will still remain as Test Track.
Can you do Fantasmic?
What were the ride cars called for the Omnimover transit system like in MK the cars we get are Doombuggy, Pirate Ship. For TTA, World of Motion and Horizons I'm not sure about good to know?
In World Discovery neighborhoods at EPCOT, was that in the entrance now into what's "Test Track" is?
Yes, it’s in the same building.
Curious to music sources here, some stuff i've never heard was in this.
Specifically the CenterCore Rendition starting at 4:57
DreamfinderGuy Dreamfinder I found you!
This is Before Test Track.
I remember when AAs from World of Motion came to Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean
Can you do a video on Discovery Island, River Country and the other two Disney water parks.
Martin Smith is this video for sale? Please send PM.
Which pavilion will be your next one and when is it coming out let me know OK good.
Please respond.
I wish Disney had kept these types of rides. The only one I can think of in Spaceship Earth 🌎 That mission needs to go and replace with something educational. Well that's my 2 cents 😊
Why is it that most of the black animatronics are either strumming a stringed instrument or holding a clipboard?
So much better than Test Track...
from world of motion to test track
