This turned out so good! I've never tried the Rub & Buff! It looks like it really makes the prints look like real metal. Nice job, I'm gonna have to try some of that!
Nice work on the Star Lord props, can't wait to see the helmet you teased at the end. That rub-n-buff stuff looks awesome, definitely adding that to the finishing arsenal, very cool stuff. Can't wait to see #GOTG2, looks like a very fun and action packed movie! Thanks for sharing this Clayton!
Uncle Jessy great job brother! Rub n Buff is amazing stuff! Have you tried using the "Adam Savage" method of weathering using espresso? Not sure how it reacts with already painted parts especially rub and buff compound but hey might be worth trying. I'm in the process of making quite a few tesseracts with variations in the LED(s) remote controlled or motion controlled with pulses that dim and brighten. Also saw where some people made the power stone (gem) that fits inside that orb containing a tiny LED and it looked near perfect!
Since I don't have a 3D printer, I replicated the orb using a styrofoam ball and a wood-burning iron to carve in the details, it came out pretty cool too :) And, for anyone wanting to do the rub and buff 'effect' without rub and buff, just get some silver model paint, and try dry brushing it on ^^ Looks basically the same :)
Slimshadow457 I'm actually going to upload a separate video with some of the edits that I cut out of this. I mentioned that exact thing. That's how I originally made it was out of a styrofoam ball and burned away the patterns.
Yup! It really does the trick until I get a 3D printer for the more accurate version. That said I also cut the ball in half, used magnets to keep it shut and I still need to finish the inside but it's gettin there :)
There's a really cheap way on making "flame effects", to be honest i have no idea what's the name for the material, but i used if for my recent ghost rider cosplay, and it looks great!

Awesome, as usual! May I recommend a future project: Men in Black Neuralyzer!
Did you use magnets to the orb?
0:45 - LOL, THEY LOOK LIKE MUSHROOMS!!!!!
If im just looking to get started what do i need to know about painting items once i have them 3d printed
I built the orb! Mine is wired with a purple LED. I left the wire out so I can print a stand for it and hide the wire in the stand.
think I might try this on a Terminator skull
loweyvlogs oh man that is an awesome idea. This rub'n buff would be great for that
Did you use the silver leaf rub n buff?
