I found a Sony Walkman F1 in the trunk of a car my friend bought this weekend. The car was sitting in a garage for the last 30 years. He gave it to me for my daughter to complete her costume. Felt like the barn find of a lifetime

Hey James! Just wanted to say thx for this detailed video. It gave me the confidence to try this myself and, although I couldn’t find the exact metallic teal colour (discontinued), I’m super pleased with how mine turned out! It doesn’t play music but that’s ok, it looks frikking fantastic 👌🏻

The TPS L2 originally came with a vinyl carry case that had a belt attachment. In the film, they show it hanging on the belt withOUT the carry case. A belt hook being added by
the prop makers.

Adam Savage just made one out of styrene. It looks good but man, he used all kind of tools that the average person doesn't have, or have access to. This is a great custom! Just bought one off of Ebay and ordered my decals from Etsy. Thanks!!
There were vintage Sony MDR 03L Walkman headphones on Ebay mint in package that ended with zero bids with $5 as starting. Crazy.
Gonna do the same. Although mines more of an original cosplay inspired by Star Lord. Don’t know how circuits work though

I've made a PDF of the art with 4 labels to a sheet in case you mess one or two up (because let's be honest - rounded corners are hard to cut out)
I had Kinko's print it on a sheet of white peel-back paper. It was about a dollar.

Try little bursts of paint as you sweep back and forth. You seem to be just kinda continuous spraying as you shake the can over the prop while stopping occasionally.

Just found a Bluetooth receiver on eBay for $4 shipped! Will be good enough for this. I've had this toy in storage for a while waiting on the right moment to pimp it out to realism. Now, it's time!

Btw, if you wanna buy a real TPS-L2 (Or WM-3 if you want it black), note that it does not have a belt clip. The real thing came with a leather belt case. And don't bolt or hot glue a clip on it, you'll ruin your $800 investment.

I love what you did, I love your cosplay. Just do not say "screen accurate" I know you said "-ish" at the end, but still, no :-D You can easily have the whole walkman 3D printed and it will be Screen accurate :-)
