They reported that he was surrounded by bad eggs, swindlers, crooks, idiots who tried to tear him down or wanted to profit from him to his cost. But he never caved in, it was like he shedded them like a mountain sheds an avalanche of snowflakes or a tree sheds its sick leaves. It was very elucidating and now I encounter a similar story from Volondat himself. Interesting stuff. It also reminds me of the Japanese film Rashamon, a real masterpiece in this area.
