The creativity of some of these stories just blows me away sometimes. This is one of those stories & many compliments to the author. Amazing story & of course it was given to the only narrator that could pull it off perfectly.
Don't feel sorry for this guy one bit. The nerve of this person to think his mother was supposed to get special treatment from Death while other people had to accept their losses...this was a good one, Doctor.
Excellent story! A real break from the traditional beliefs of how he looks, acts, does. But he is indeed necessary, and the boys young mind wasn’t able to comprehend exactly why he couldn’t have intervened in his mother’s death.
Someone I was very close to was on their deathbed and the things he told me that he saw were strange. I've tried to forget. It's how I found horror stories on RUclips.
This was also a very well written story, and of course it was narrated by the most brilliant narrator I've ever heard. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing "reads"with us. I know that all of us enjoy hearing them very much. As always, Doc... I send you so much love and tons of hugs and kisses! Until next time, Good Sir, I bid you a beautiful evening. 💞💞💞
Idk if I'm in a mood or what.... You have outdone yourself! When you're the young man screaming at the reaper- I could hear it. I could see it. I could feel it. All the hurt, anger, sadness, loss, pain, confusion.... WOW! I know it's partly the excellent writing but you brought that to life in a way that I haven't heard/felt/seen in very long time. If ever! Thank you for making my commute not miserable!
The part about the dog remembering the taste of ice cream made me cry. The morning my dog passed, I gave her vanilla ice cream. I hope she had a content passing too
Hey! Haven't left a comment in a while I have a huge playlist of about 400 stories that I add onto everyday so I'm usually super super late but thanks for all the awesome narrations. Usually I spend all 8 hours of my shift just watering plants so it's super awesome to have good stories to listen to and an awesome narrator. Thanks man I really appreciate it. (Still waiting on that patreon) haha.
We all will experience something like this. And i can testify that things dont always appear to be what it seems. Some things are not meant to be messed with as we need to accept unexplainable things. Humanity is not ready yet for such spiritual level of understanding the balance that we have taken for granted..and our own demises are what we reap..yes, its true when it is said that YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW...simple concept, but soulfully deep and enlightening. Thanks so much for the awesome narration as always, Dr. Peace be with you always. ✌
Doctor Creepen, Sorry for being so late to listening to your heavenly angelic musical voice for 30:00. I've been on vacation trying to stay caught up. Anyway I hope you have a great day and I will try to catch your story this afternoon when it's uploaded ASAP.👌😘😇😍👍
Totally intriguing and full of excitement. I really wish you will do more of this series. Death is inevitable. And yet, knowing that, we all, as human beings are engrossed in making a brighter future, indulging in vices in the process. We should instead, try to live life one day at a time. Thanks for the amazing story Dr. Creepen. And as always, we love you and appreciate the effort you put in trying to entertain us. God bless you, kind Sir.
The Reaper has rules, that it must follow. Direct interference is not allowed, though sometime an indirect is possible. Sadly, this possibility is rarer than one might think.
Interesting story. Only a couple issues. I thought that the dad in the beginning mentioned that until his son was of age and ready that he was immortal? Pretty sure that was mentioned. Also I didn’t quite understand the fathers purpose, just his mere existence made life possible? Like yin/yang, black/white, light/dark? And lastly, I don’t think the father would have ever revealed his families truth under any circumstance to anybody, especially if even eventually they might begin to believe it to be true. For the exact reason that happened. His son would also be trained to never reveal it. And the father wouldn’t even tell the son about it until he was mature enough to be able to keep a secret like that. Just a few plot holes or lazy writing. Interesting concept of course.
He's immortal unless someone kill him, like the immortal jellyfish, gabe probably found out by snooping around, and because his dad knows all, he just went along with it
Exactly, like as soon as he was shot I immediately thought of what he told the protag. If the grim reaper knew all the possible outcomes of his own death or any one else's death, then he would have known that by telling the protag about his story, he would eventually be killed.
Sam Messorem said the "of age" thing was usually around 14, and both Gabe and protag were well into Sophomore year or later in high school, meaning they're older than 14. He also said Gabe was not "fully prepared," not that he wasn't prepared at all, which I assume means he wanted his son to be psychologically ready to handle knowing when people he'd grown close to (and would eventually grow close to in the future) would die. The mentioning a daughter of the Grim Reaper "not being ready for the job" turning out disastrously was also there in his explanation. Sam also remained composed when protag held him at gun point, so I assume he knew having his brains blown out was a possibility, but wasn't sure if _that specifically_ would be his official death until he was facing down the business end of a gun. Remember, even the protag himself saw around 8 possibilities for his own death seconds after shooting Sam dead, corroborating Sam's earlier statement of "Just because an outcome is a possibility doesn't mean it will actually happen." The whole "Grim Reaper is passed down through generations" bit wasn't explained very well, though.
@@KarlAndArma4ever It sounds like he's saying 40 not 14 but idk his accent makes it difficult to tell..and then he says 1 time in history a girl became a grim reaper as a teen and wasn't ready for it.
Absolutely awesome story! Even before I read the premier volume to the Incarnations of Immortality by Piers Anthony - On a Pale Horse. And even before my first exposure to the absolute mastery that is Neil Gaiman and any of his works focusing on Death, Dream and the other Immortals. I had written a story of a young girl in a small, unnamed village meeting a slender, pale stranger who called himself Tod (German for Death) and her life with the specter of Death looming over the whole of her life. And a current work involving two avatars of death - Thanatos and a champion for the Egyptian god of Death, this kind of story has fascinated me! What would any of us do were we to meet an avatar or aspect of Death itself? And this tale takes that on and runs with it! Absolutely fantastic! Cheers to the author and, of course, to our wonderful narrator, dear Doctor. I bid you a good evening and the hopes for a pleasant week for you and yours. Salut!
My good doctor, thank you for sharing this thought provoking story. I will never look at the grim reaper in the same way..It appears to me that if you are trusted with privileged knowledge then you have a responsibility not only to yourself but to the order of things. But folks don't always think like that. Any way, the drink(s)? are finished and our time with you is over for now. I look forward to our next meeting .Warm regards..
I love creative Grim Reaper/Death stories but none has ever surpassed my all time favorite by Piers Anthony "On A Pale Horse". That book was so great and unique. Oddly when my brother-in-law died my then under 12 year old nephew’s (12 & 7) read the book. First, the 12 year old who was reading my Incarnations of Immortality books. I didn’t want him to read that book at that time but I respected him enough that he knew if he could handle a subject. He called me after he devoured the book in a day "Oh I hope that happened with Dad. It would make this all so much better for him. I’m gonna have J read it (his very devastated 7 yo brother).” Oh wait, I’m not sure. He may be too young to not be upset by the story. Too late that night he gave his little brother ‘On A Pale Horse’ and then sat beside him all night reading the next book. I might be the only Aunt who along with my sister had to force my nephews to stop reading and go play or go to sleep but now we laugh at least they have an hobby during bouts of insomnia. Anyway, before I leave for work the 7 yo calls me and says excitedly that he finished the book (thank you JK Rowling he was already becoming a voracious and good reader). He goes on to say how the book made him feel less sad and have more understanding that his dad didn’t have a choice about dying and that maybe his dad accidentally killed the Reaper who came to get him and is now stuck being a reaper himself. It was cute and it was a breakthrough for a grieving child. The book opened a bigger space for dialogue with two grieving and bitter children. They would start talking to their Grandpa or other Aunts or Uncles and speak in terms of the book and when the adults failed to understand they’d have them read OAPH and then they’d talk about the book and transition into their feelings about their dad and his death etc. Anyway over 20 years later and we all still have a keen interest in Grim Reaper/ Death stories and OAPH is still unbeaten.
