From Canada I got to see Ozzy and Randy 4 times before the plane crash ...............Tommy is amazing as was Rudy and what can you say about Ozzy ! The best !
This is quite literally one of them most difficult songs to play live on guitar for me. The signature riff is mind boggling insane to nail. And he not only wrote it, he played it live almost every night on this tour. His rhythm playing was even better than his solos in my opinion. What a loss. Who knows what he could have accomplished over the next 30 plus years? An astounding player.
It really is difficult. I have struggled with it. Even when you go and listen to Brad Gillis’ rendition. Feels like he plays a slower more “chugging” version of it, where Randy just made it sound crazy easy. The tune feels like an upgraded Quiet Riot song with Ozzy vocals.
i am 55 years old. i saw jimi hendrix in baton rouge in 1970 (right before he died). randy rhoads was phenomenal! i think this kid would have passed jimi up for sure had he lived!
I saw Tommy Aldridge with whitesnake just about 5 years ago at twin river casino/Lincoln dog track in Lincoln Rhode Island. Tommy did his drum solo and it’s basically the same as the randy tribute album solo! It was glorious! Dream come true!! Reb beach was amazing aswell
Literally no one sounds like Randy Rhoads. He certainly knew how to get unique sounds out of his guitar and amp. The way he uses distortion, at least during live shows, kind of reminds me of Hendrix. Does anyone else hear this or is it just me? Lol.
Randy and hendrix were the only ones that could pull off that much distortion. Randy ran amps hot plus a dist plus pedal on top of that. Face melting for sure. I hate guys now who are afraid of distortion or talk down about distortion. The fact he harnesses that much gain from amp and pedal and handled the feedback from overpowering everything is a feat in itself. Plus the fact he played his chord perfectly not sloppy like a lot of people do.
@@davidwooderson46 Hendrix and Randy are some of my faves to this day. Such a shame both were taken long before their time. They both had so much more music to give.
Over thirty years later and I still marvel at Randy's talent. It's astounding to conceive of the music that he would have made. He was planning to leave rock music to formally study classical guitar. Who knows where that would have led?
I think there's a good chance he would have been the best guitarist ever if he had lived. In any genre, too. He is remembered mostly for only two studio albums (he made one with Quiet Riot too. At least one. IDK if there were more) and he was just 25 when he died tragically. There's definitely guys I would say are on his level and could be debated as equal or better to him (I don't know if I've heard anyone "better" per se, Hendrix is more innovative and influential). Guys like Eddie Van Halen and Joe Satriani can certainly challenge Randy's work, and then there are other guys I haven't listened to as much but am aware of their prodigious abilities. Guys such as Shawn Lane, Yngwie Malmsteen (not a fan from what I've heard tbqh but he's obviously insane), Steve Vai, John Petrucci, etc. Considering he is generally considered one of the very best guitarists to ever live by most who know guitar, I'd think it quite possible he would have clearly surpassed some of those guys I mentioned, if not all of them. Sadly, we'll never know just how great RR could have become.
well rock/ metal music was much more marketable than someone playing classical guitar, no matter how good, so chances are his popularity would have faded off compared to what he had in Ozzy. Anyway, Blizzard and Diary were masterpieces IMO. As far as ozzy albums go, I like those the best by far.
I like both of those players, especially Randy, but when you make it into a contest, how do you really judge who's the best? I'd rather just enjoy all of it. Saying one guy is better than everyone else is pointless IMO, and only lead to pointless arguments with other people that have a different favorite guitarist than yourself.
I like the fact that I'm one of only 18K people to have stumbled onto this rare recording. Even better one of a mere 72 that wasn't too lazy or too stoopid to click on the "thumbs up" button. But REALLY glad I'm not one of the complete morons that clicked on "thumbs down"
I ran into Randy at are local Savons. Blizzard wasn't out yet in USA. But could buy it in the import section. I started telling him some song titles, he smiled when I mentioned this song and s few others. People who grew up in Burbank his time know all he did was practice and play instruments. A terrible loss.
it is probably Rudy Sarzo here, as he and Tommy Aldridge came on at the same time, after Lee Kerslake and Bob Daisley were fired in 1981, before the US Tour
staccato picking on a single string while reducing the hammer-ons by fret. It's actually fairly simple. I used to to it all the time in my time as a guitarist.
maybe not, but he sure was good, definitely passed him in his later years, even when he was 15 (my age) he was already amazing, if you haven't seen the randy rhoads blues vid from when he was 15 then you should definitely check it out
Literally the sickest guitarist ever! Style, class, soul, harmony, creativity, songwriting, none can compare.

Randy would’ve given EVH a good run is never died Randy was just getting started ready to conquer the world
The solo is one of his best

Randy is a beast. God bless him in heaven.
Goat of improvisation and my favorite

Apples and oranges.
No one compares to Randy, and i am a HUGE Zakk Wylde fan

Randy is and was amazing.

He was years before his time
. So sad man. Long live RR...

He was the Jimi Hendrix of his Time. Yes Hands Down
Saw Tommy Aldridge in concert with Ozzy. Played a solo with his hands. 100% sick.
This concert is amazing and the best Randy and Ozzy recording I've heard even better then the tribute album I love
my favorite randy solo. and the drum solo stands the test of time .the night is stolen
my god are Randy and Tommy gods

To my mind, only one guitarist today even comes close to RR's greatness--Tony MacAlpine. He too can meld classical with metal with ease.

Randy "would have passed jimi up for sure had he lived!"??!!?? Are you for real? Randy passed Jimi when he first picked up the guitar at age 5!!
Wit dat echo on the main chorus
I bet if Randy were still alive today he would be playing with Joe Jackson or the Jackson Four or King Diamond.
