I spent many hours riding in my uncles 302 powered 74 E. Love those.
Nice vids, new subscriber here. An easier way you could've got that broken stud out is mig weld a nut onto the broken end. Fill the nut with the filler wire and the heat from the arc will most definitely travel down the stud and loosen any sticktion/rust. Remove bolt after cooling.

As the water pump scratches the top of the fender.
If you could see the fender, you'd know why I don't care. Were this a nice paint job, I would use fender covers.
What tool you use to cut the water pump if a broken bolt?
While your at it upgrades suggest that if your timing chain is a concern, then, maybe you should look at an upgrade to the Camshaft. A mildly aggressive street cam could give you a nice boost in performance over stock. Also a complete set of lifters could be matched to the cam in a set. Then if you replace the timing chain, you also up your engine performance with the new cam and lifters, without a total overhaul. Do consider it.
We would if we were going to keep the 260. We have mighty plans for a 302 upgrade with a 5-speed.
You mentioned not having a running vehicle. Quick fixing the 260 would let you bench build a 302 and even take your time, while having a shop vehicle that runs. Then an engine/trans swap when ready would be a quick upgrade, when finally ready.

Awesome video guys! An tips for keeping the fan from spinning while trying to unbolt the thing? I imagine it will also be an issue when I try to tighten it back up. Thanks guys. love the videos!
I'd recommend cracking the bolts loose on the fan before taking the belt off.
use a fender cover!!!

Hey Jeff..how does the PULLY come off ? Do you need a puller or is it easy? I ask because as I work on my 66, running the engine LOOKS like there is a slight wobble (bent pully ?) ..sits behind the extension and flex fan
So pully ?
Pulley is a slip fit...or it should be...If the pulley is being a bear, you can wait and remove the put and tap the shaft while holding the pulley and it will probably come off. Set the pulley on your bench and do a check for warp. If it is a 289, just get a new one from National Parts Depot of you are in doubt.

I was more expecting you to ram your knuckles on the radiator,then when you pulled out the silver goop I knew where it would be.Anti seize,no matter how I spelled it,spell check came up.

I have a problem...overheating on my 1965 Mustang 289heads and 302 1969 Torino block. It seems from my research that I have the timing cover for a late reverse rotation "94"? engine and the water pump I keep getting has the plate in the back and there are no recesses for it to mount to. So...I've just removed the plate and bolted it up....car over heats after 30min on the road. Seems since I have the timing cover that has a recessed area for the impeller and does not have the spot for the bolts...is causing the overheating. So....what do I need to do since the engine from 1969 Torino rotates clockwise (looking from rad to motor) I need the correct timing cover, right? Tks
Yes. Pretty sure that the counter rotation is causing your issue.
