The band just kept out cranking the tune indifferent to the surrounding madness. Absolutely brilliant stuff. There has never been and will never be another Clash!

I came back to this song after it was played at my mom's best friend's funeral a little over a month ago on the 26th of July, only to learn later that day when I came home in the evening that the song was released on the very same day in 1979. That was an amazing coincidence and it really cheered me up. I'll always think of her when I hear this song now.

This song was written by Sonny Curtis of the Crickets, Buddy Holly's backing band and recorded by them in 1960, the year after he died in a plane crash. I guess had he lived it would have been another big hit for him back then. The Cricket's drummer, Jerry Allison, did the original 6 gun on the song.

This song sort of brings a kick to your stomach if you happened to come across a montage of footage from behind the scenes of a particular movie whose studio thought would be best for the world not to see so decided to erase it completely from existence and knowing the whole story behind the decision and how it played out. And it just happened to be a film about a very famous persistent cartoon canine who spent his entire life trying to catch a bird.
I remember when my son Kayden was roughly 5 or 6 and I was playing this on Guitar Hero and after him hearing me play it he would beg me to play the game and song over and over again!!! But I can hear it now and understand perfectly the complaint, and why the law always won in those days. Bobbys version isn't original. Original song was written by The Crickets (Buddy Hollys) in 1960.

This song sort of brings a kick to your stomach if you happened to come across a montage of footage from behind the scenes of a particular movie whose studio thought would be best for the world not to see so decided to erase it completely from existence and knowing the whole story behind the decision and how it played out. And it just happened to be a film about a very famous persistent cartoon canine who spent his entire life trying to catch a bird.

I remember when my son Kayden was roughly 5 or 6 and I was playing this on Guitar Hero and after him hearing me play it he would beg me to play the game and song over and over again!!! It doesn't matter the generation we can all appreciate great music especially a band that helped the punk rock genre in so many ways!! Epic music and lyrics!!🤘

GadgetInspektor: I was young in the ´80s and never heard of this song, may be in my country (I am uruguayan) it was forbidden because we had a military government in those days. But I can hear it now and understand perfectly the complaint, and why the law always won in those days. Even though I loved the clash music and didn´t understand very much the lyrics, they really sing complicated in English for the ones who english isn´t native language, like both of us. Regards.
