  • On the 21st & 22nd of October 2023, Section Cars Australia operated a tour from the southern downs town of Warwick to the Queensland / New South Wales border town of Wallangarra.
On the Tuesday 31st of October bushfires raged through Wallangarra,
thankfully the town and railway station was spared but 4 railway timber bridges and the
timber road overbridge in Wallangarra were damaged.
Our tour was the last rail traffic over the line before the fire.
Hopefully the bridges will be rebuilt so heritage operators have the opportunity
to run tours over this beautiful railway line once again.
The following is the drivers view footage of the line
    from Stanthorpe to Wallangarra.

I went to Australia & traveled all over by rail for entire month of May 1987. using a 1 month 1st class rail pass. I'm a "train-a-holic" & have gone over 250,000 km by rail since 1955 (including 51x on "The Canadian") & 2 weeks in UK when BritRail still existed. I love all Cab ride videos. Cheers from Vancouver.

Just wondering when you might post some new content.
I think your videos are the closest to a 'train drivers view' on Queensland Railways we are likely to ever get, ....and I've been searching for a few years now.
The longer the video, the better...!
...keep up the great work and thank you so much for posting what you have. 🦘

You can't beat the sound of a Southern Cross two stroke engine. The MT 2 was the big work horse of the MT's or Quads as they were better known. They could pull a load of two flatties ( flatties were the wagonettes that carried the tools, men and sleepers to the job site. My gang had 14 labourers and a ganger plus a nipper who was usually a youngster that took care of boiling the Billy and miscellaneous jobs. We would carry six jerry cans of water and six water bags plus a 20 litre drum of mixed fuel. Awesome bit of kit they were. I miss my mates of yesteryears.

Such a shame i saw Queensland government overspent on buying a hotel for homeless at 28 million over 8 million dollars but won't keep tourism alive and organisations going on a smaller amount like this. Wonderful video thanks

Good to see the line is basically in good nick. Also nice to see a station building Wallangarra with no graffiti. I watched at 2x speed, still good to view

I am not sure of the full extent, but a ".few " bridges were burnt out a couple of months after this video. Sadly, not sure as to "The Will" or the money to restore is forthcoming, hopefully it will get done.😢😊

Hi Peter. We are an accredited rail operator with the Rail Safety Regulator and have a track access agreement with Queensland Rail. We operate tours so section car owners can run their section car legally on the railway. No one can access track (open or closed) legally without the proper accreditation.

So they have estimated that the cost to repair at $20 million,i think that’s a lot for those 4 bridges. As the road bridge should be costed to Main Roads!

Just out of curiosity, what is the gauge of this line? I'm guessing 70 cm or thereabout.

Do they come with a driver or do you drive them?

    • @sectioncarsaustralia9272
      @sectioncarsaustralia9272  3 месяца назад +2

Owners of section cars drive their own. We are a third party accredited heritage operator with a track access agreement with Queensland Rail. We provide training to approve operators to be competent in driving section cars.
