- Scenes recorded on Wednesday January 7th, 1998, of of FreightCorp locomotives 4866, 4883 & 4850 hauling a grain train along the now closed lines from Demondrille to Koorawatha and out to Greenthorpe in the South West Slopes region of NSW. Both these lines are now closed.
This is another fine example of your work, Bevan, and reminds me of why I'm subscribed to your channel. I've been out to Cowra, Young, and Grenfell a few times in the past two years, and apart from this and other of your videos, I could only imagine what rail operations used to look and sound like out there. Thank you!
Yeah, I was up that way myself about a year ago, and took some time to follow the tracks so to speak, it's all changed now, and it's a crying shame to see the condition of the infrastructure, makes me wonder who the idiot was who decided that half of NSW's rail system was not viable, of course it wasn't, but that was not the point, it provided a service, something Government entities don't seem to realise that's what they're there for.
Bloody awesome footage Bevan, shame so many branches are gone and forgotten, and shame the 48’s are being withdrawn… thank you for preserving our states diesel history through video.
Some historical footage. Well done Bevan.
Great shots, thanks for sharing. Endo of an era for sure. Cheers.
Magnificent capture of a very different railway back then
.
It's a shame that all three locos have been scrapped.
Timeless
Great historic rail video.
I was there last year and it was sad to see the derelict signal box
Non standard exhaust on loco 4850?
Looks like a muffler, not sure why a 48 class would need one though.
Four 48 class were fitted with this exhaust .......... for use on work trains in the Sydney underground electrified system .
Doesn’t really look like it was effective!
@@movierazor looks like it made the exhaust worse!!
@@terryirons1966 this one must have its insides removed.
Was a silencer added to 4850? -- its exhaust set-up seems different.
As a relative newbie to the history of NSW rural and freight rail, does anyone here know if there used to be a triangle at Demondrille? Looking at Google Maps' satellite view there seems to be a hint of an old triangle west of the signal box.
I think so, there was a huge coal stage at Demondrille. I dimly recall that there was a problem on the Main South Line and the Spirit of Progress was rerouted via Cowrs.
Yes, there was a triangle.
Aaaw yah true ALCo action here
Bevan , You have covered a fair chunk of NSW in your travels Mate, Bloody good videos with great vantage points from some of the states best country .
Thanks for sharing.
Mighty little 48 they made its owners lots of cash 🚂🚂🚂👍👍👍😃😀🦘🇦🇺
Public service
You’ve got to be kidding Bevan. This is amazing.
You will probably enjoy this one as well: ruclips.net/video/4WUEhYvEQjY/видео.html
What fabulous footage. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍😊
Only a greenie could hate an Alco.
Love that efficiency haze
The rail alignment is quite woeful. Asset management seems to have been a thing of the past following the dissolution of Government Railways. Says a lot.
Woow what an airpolution !! , not good for the climate !!
Great to see the scrubber on 4850 is doing its magic :D
