Australian Alco diesel locomotives - 48 class - Dubbo region - April 1997

Scenes recorded early in April 1997 of 48 class locomotives working on the lines radiating out from Dubbo, NSW, including a chase of the Cobar ore train.Two scenes of steam locomotive 3801 are also included.

This is an amazing video with incredible footage of the 48's. I especially enjoyed seeing a glimpse of my old family home near Troy Junction 48 and 38 together was a sight to see and I remember the days when a rail motor would skim our backyard on its journey between Dubbo and Gilgandra with waving passengers. The noisy "loose" shunting at the old Dubbo Abattoir was very exciting for this 3year old trainspotter.

I love these ALCO's but the horn in that first clip sounds like the clarinets warming up in band class.
