- Scenes recorded during the first half of 1994 covering the end of regular locomotive hauled passenger services in New South Wales. Over the weekend of July 9th & 10th, 1994, the last running of regular loco-hauled passenger services within NSW occurred. On the Saturday 42207 & 42214 hauled CL27/68 passenger from Sydney to Moss Vale and return via Robertson. On Sunday 4468 & 4403 worked SL56 Goulburn to Sydney service. Both trains were adorned with suitable headboards to mark the occasion. We know now of course that loco-hauled passenger trains would return to NSW when Country Link later introduced a weekly service to Broken Hill and Griffith, but eventually Explorer sets replaced these trains and all we are left with now is the Indian Pacific.
Fantastic video, would have loved to have seen the 422's back in regular service, they are certainly a nice locomotive, as are the 44's (and most other NSW locos along with the Victorian locos)
I miss those days (though I never had the privilege of seeing 422's in person).
