- A friend and I travelled on the gorgeous vintage Coffee Pot Train (part of the Pichi Richi Tourist Train "family", from Quorn to Woolshed Flat in South Australia on May 19th 2024. I videoed sections of the ride while my husband and my friend's partner also videoed the train passing them at various vantage points along the way. After the train passed them they jumped in the cars to get in front of the train ready at the next vantage point to video again. The Coffee Pot is believed to be the only one like this remaining in the world, and does only 3-4 tourist journeys a year. So if you want to "jump on board" you need to go to the Pichi Richi website and book early to guarantee a seat. We swapped with our men for the journey back to Quorn and I videoed the train returning to Quorn. An excellent day out, and the catered 3 course lunch was superb.
The best footage one's eyes ever get to see I am sure a lot of effort and patience have been put to shoot this 8 minute masterpiece ❤ from India 🇮🇳
Cute little steam beast with its small coach load. Would like to ride this, and own this!!
"The little engine that could". Adorable.

A very, very nice train! I have never seen such a lovely little locomotive! Many thanks for this wonderful video! Many greetings from germany! Dampf-Hannes
Technically it’s a rail motor (the locomotive is part of the car).
@@allangibson8494 Yes I know. In Germany we call it Dampftriebwagen.
@@dampf-hannes3528 In Brazil they are called Litorina but I have never seen a steam engine like this, only diesel ones
Thank you very much!
Fabulous video of a truly unique railway! Thanks for preparing and posting this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this lovely video of a cute little steam locomotive. Reminds me of the Ffestiniog Railway on their 'Quirks & Curiosities' days.
Wow. Though I knew all lot about steam railways in the world, but am totally unaware of this one. Well done you Aussies out there. Totally unique and very special.
Amazing ! To think that such a cute little engine still runs so gallantly. Every puff of steam is an exuberant expression of sheer joy. Thanks for making the video and posting it !
What a sweet little train and engine! I definitely would travel to see and ride on it! Thank you.
Well done Judy, I was in Quorn about three weeks ago, really sorry I missed this cute little fella
A fantastic and interesting video thank you very much for making it.
That is so neat and that whistle sounds like a tea pot
Cutest little rail motor ever! It looks like a normal size train consisting of a locomotive and two coaches approaching you when seen from a certain angle ( such as 3:59 ) but then it gets closer and reveals itself to be just this compact squeezed little unit. Absolutely adorable.
Awesome landscape the train drives through...
Thanks for watching
Amazing video 🤩👌🏼 Just subscribed
What wonderful little machine. Great Britain had a number of designs in the same fashion. The Great Western Society at at Didcot in England have built a replica of one such. However this has the engine inside the vehicle, with a vertical boiler. Beautiful filming, a very testful watch. Thank you for sharing 😀😀😀😀😀🇬🇧
I wish commuter trains in my city were like this 😍. Every trip to the office would be pure joy.
Amazing how this little thing survived. remember seeing a BW photo in a 'Pix' magazine in the 1960s! :-)
An adorable little train, toddling through countryside very like here in Arizona. And an adorable little whistle to go along with her. That stack talk tells us that she is working hard to earn her keep, as well.
Fine ! And finally, an early form of steam railcar ! Greetings from Belgium (Brussels).
That's one cute little rascal. Thanks for the content. God Bless.
In October 2019 I happened to meet a gentleman who worked the Pichi Pichi, he was in Southern California to ride Union Pacific’s Big Boy 4014 excursion from West Colton yard to Barstow. It is truly a small world!
Excellent video and historic steam train. Good work. Greetings from Poland.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for a very enjoyable video.
I live in Eugene Oregon, but fondly remember my years in Adelaide and South Australia 63 years ago. I would have loved this excursion.
So cute even the whistle reminds a sweet kitten.
Thanks for the ride. Really enjoyed it. Former brakeman and conductor here.
What a great little train.
Hi Judy, thanks for sharing an excellent video. I have never traveled on this train and it is very interesting seeing it in action. Wishing you the very best. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
Thanks Judy! Loved it.
So glad!
Lovely. A great (or small) way to travel across Australia.
A beautiful and comforting trip to the past. Congratulations.
Cute little engine with a cute little whistle.
What a cutie !
Cheers From California 😎
Super like friend!
Big hug from Brazil
At 7:00 going uphill in the "Afrikaans" language we call it the "Sakka pakka" train. Thanks Judy, a magnificent video!!
I am very pleased to see the video. Greetings from Pakistan
Thanks for this video. This is one very unique shortline loco-carriage.
Mark from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
Fabulous Pichi Richi Railway. Fond memories!!
I thought this was in the Serra foothills of California until I saw the cars on the left. Neat little outfit you have there. And that whistle is great!
The inspiration for my 7 1/4" gauge steam railcar!
That was one Cute little steaming Hot Coffee Pot. And picturesque locations...
Very petite, and I would bet economical steam engine as well. Great to see it still in working order. A testament to the preservationists and the love they show in restoring and running these incredible machines.
Sweety rail Train ❤❤ greeting from Germany Colonia a Fan.
Very nice view captured by you.thank you for posting this video.❤❤❤
I love the little coffee pot. So neat.
What an absolutely delightful video.!
Everything about it is deserving of world acclaim....!
What an interesting little train, brilliant 👍
Wonderful presentation, thank you. Now I have to try and model a version of it for my G scale railroad.
A unique little railway in an interesting place. Nice job.
Really enjoyed watching that - thank you!
Wow, it’s cool. It’s like a painting. The video is great.
Beautiful 🚂 thank you for this 🥰
You’re welcome 😊
Very good. I'll put it on my Bucket List
Wow, amazing and beautiful capture ❤️🎉
Trop sympa.. un train de poche !!!🙂🙂
That was great Judy, thanks for the video presentation. We are up at Qld, but if we get to SA, that would be fun. I sent your video to a railway fan in The States
That Mickeymouse steam engine, I thought at first it was a joke... But Boy she 's got some puff in her! So cute//
I love this tiny train, wish I could ride this.
I was thinking more "teapot". Great little train.
Thank you. Very surprising. Enjoyable.
I wonder why only three or four trips per year.
This seems like the sort of train that I would happily commute on every week!
The Pichi Richi operation out of the Quorn is a Heritage railway that runs this and other trains. The larger gauge track used to be a part of the original track used by the Ghan when it, too, was a steam train
The "Coffee Pot" only runs dining trains from Quorn to Woolshed Flat and has be booked months or a year in advance. It's not coupled to the coach as the coach and loco are permanently joined. It never pulls any other stock behind the coach so it has very limited seating.
That Beautiful Railway station at the end, also seems to have been well preserved.
Ces tout simplement magnifique cette petite locomotive a vapeur .
I spent my career building 200 ft high power plants using boilers for steam. But my ancestors built these little locomotives! We owe a lot to the designers and Builders of locomotives!!
Nice Video Good Job
Very unique railway good to see it running still with folks interested in travelling too. We too in India have toy trains that travel to Hill stations like Shimla Darjeeling and Coonoor.
Rode that train, when i was a kid i think it was 1974 ,still have some pottery we bought
Very nice the oldie vintage steam Loco 👌🚂🚃😊🤗❤
Love it!!❤
It looks so cute
Wonderful This should be a classfied national heritage transport vehicle
What an adorable little motor. I would love to learn more about it. It doesn't look as though it could hold water and fuel for more than a few thousand metres distance.
Coffee Pot has enough coal for the 34km round journey. At Woolshed Flat where lunch is had, the well tank is topped up, usually only 6-700L added.
Great vid. Good work !
Beautifull !!!!!!!
Very nice
Brillianr that this is still running. Dont think i managed to run on it when i was there way back when.
Incidentally ther is a Quorn in UK on the Great Central Railway. You should twin.
The Otavi Railway in Africa in the 1890 -1910 period had a unit very similar to the Coffee Pot. The Narrow Gauge and Short Line Gazette had an article about the Otavi. Railway. It was in the 80s
A steam-powered doodlebug? Now I’ve seen everything.
lovely !
What a lovely little locomotive … it looks like a standard gauge but with a narrow gauge boiler. Delightful and reminiscent of the Welsh narrow gauge railways ❤❤
definitely 3'6" gauge.
nice video greating from Indonesia
I love it ❤️ ❤❤
Sehr gut. Kommt in meine Favoriten zu Eisenbahnromantik😃👍
Wonderful indeed.Looks and sounds like a fairy tale.
Hi Judy I sub to your very interesting channel, thanks and cheers Fabrizio - like 1080
Now that will make an awesome oo model
You know it…wood!
There was a R-T-R model of it in On30 by Ixion Models.
I travelled on the Pichi Richi Railway in 1981, behind a green locomotive. Great fun. Remember Quorn Station and Woolshed Flat. Last month (Sept 2024) I travelled on The Ghan from Darwin to Adelaide. More great fun.
What a unique lovely little train. It’s a real Thomas the Tank.
At that speed, it might derail...One of the cutest Trains on the planet...
Fabulous just love it
Back in the 1970s, here in the UK, British Rail spent some years and quite a large sum of money supposedly developing the 'Advanvced Passenger Train' but the project was finally abandoned with numerous issues remaining unresolved. One comedy programme on the radio did a supposed 'take-off' of the then chairman of BR. "I think I have found a new train! You put the coal in there and the water goes in there but at least in works"!
Long may this chuffer keep chuffing!
The only real problem with the APT was that it was rushed into public trials before the initial teething issues were resolved. As a result, it was vilified by the press, public perception never recovered, and politicians killed the project even though the technical problems were all solved by then. Watch the excellent youtube documentary by Ruairidh MacVeigh for more info.
Que preciosidad...😊😊😊
Wonderful
Nice video, likes from me...
Honestly, I didn't expect an engine with a literally bogey sized wheelbase to go that fast.
……did a trip on the P R Rly! Loved it to bits………
Parece un "tren fantasma"!!😅 y su pito de "barquito manicero"😂😂 LINDO❤
Train goes toot toot and tweet tweet . Kids and adults love these little engines .
ŚWIETNY KOMPAKT. A silnik dieselowski jest idealny w tej maszynie. SUPER
No diesel in the Coffee Pot
Coffee sounds good just now.
