fennelrestorati...
This is video blog three of the Viper powered Maverick build up. Today I was able to pull the engine and transmission out of the car so the next phase of modifications could be made.
First, because the engine is mounted so low in the vehicle to fit under the stock hood...the oil pan is going to need fairly serious modification to give a practical amount of ground clearance.
Next, I wanted to turn the engine upside down to dump the dog food that a rat had stashed in the intake manifold galley and get ready for the cam swap which will be in an upcoming video.
Thanks for watching and I'll keep the videos coming as often as I get a chance to work on the car!
OK! Thanks everyone so much...I'll try to do longer videos and get more done! I dig the feedback and input. I won't have time next week so the week after for sure!
Reading comments like yours is one of the main reasons I bring the camera with me to work on this thing. So glad I get to hear from SO MANY great car people that can relate to the process or just enjoy coming along for the ride.
THANK YOU!
Thanks so much...a few years ago I built a 54 F100 with a 4.6 Mustang engine and a Jag front suspension, I really loved that truck. We'll see about craftsmanship...this is still the easy part, finishing it is when it gets difficult!
Have a good one and good luck on yours!
Thanks so much! It's a long slow road and the Power Block people are very cool to work with. We'll see what happens from here!!!
You are too kind and I hope to make everyone happy when it's finished!
I would just like to say I love watching these videos because I grew up watching my dad work on cars and I have also helped him with his current project when I have some time to be home. Keep up the videos and don't stop the hard work.
Sincerely,
Airman Alvarado
Thanks...I've been struggling to find the time and money to get back over to Mike's shop but I'll get something up as soon as I can!
Long or short is good. Your time is greatly appreciated by me and the wife. We have had a 74 mav for 15 years now as a. fun hotrod we call it 302. With lots of mod's for the weekends. We had fun saying that if we cash in and sell the house we could find a wrecked viper LOL
Thanks Mr. Fennel, because of people like you the average Joe with a dream can at least get a shot. The world needs more like you.
I like the 5-10 min vids of substantial updates so that we get updates more often instead of waiting for one long vid. Nice work so far too!
That would make me very happy and proud to road trip this car to your school next year...stay in touch and thanks!
I absolutely love to hear stories like you and your Maverick, thanks so much for sharing.
I think you need some longer videos, Jason. This is a unique build, and probably the only Viper powered Maverick most of us will see with documented videos of the build process.
Very good spot on the music! I was rockin out to the Foo's for most of the fabrication on this little dude.
longer videos please...love this build nothing cooler than a crazy engine swap, very unique...good work man
i am fascinated on your build. i like these 5-10 min videos of yours. they are pretty cool. keep them short and interesting, instead of long and boring. keep us on our toes!! i cant wait for the next video
Another Maverick guy, yeah buddy! I'm getting a little money saved to make another bunch of progress on the Viper Maverick...thanks and I'll get video up in a few weeks!
keep them coming man that's a hell of a project. a viper motor swap isn't easy. that thing is gunna be one for the books. nice work.
Longer videos would be awesome! I'm an engineering student, still in college, but when I finally get out of here I'll be starting on a '69 Chevelle SS. I love this stuff.
Please post every stage of the project. Longer video episodes would be nice. This is a very cool project car. I can't wait to see and hear the finished product. Thanks!
I never considered doing any how to's...since I'm always just winging it when I work, I don't consider myself an authority of HOW. But I do have friends that are really talented and this could be a showcase for that.
Thanks for the great idea!
smaller vids with important things Very impressed about your car and the time and dedication that you put in it
Glad i found this little series before you finished it because i would of went through the whole thing in one day. really cool build and i like how i don't need to skim your videos because they aren't like an hour long each. keep up the good lengths and quality videos!
Keep them short and frequent. harder to get bored, easier to watch at work even if I'm busy.
As you can tell by my name I have a maverick, I love your build and think you are doing a awsome job with your maverick, post what you can and I will watch ! keep up the great work !!
Its awesome that you are able to broadcast your projects to the world! How you go about doing that is up to you though, personally I enjoy the short 5 - 7 minute videos. Keep up the great work man!
sorry to hear about mike! really keen to see where this project is gunna head because so far im loving it! you introduced me to what a ford maverick looks like and man i love it :)
Keep the videos coming just like you're doing now. This is a really cool build. I can't wait to see your finished product. I had a '83 pontiac grand prix with a 3.8L v-6 original. I stuffed an Olds 403 big block in it and it fit perfect with no mods.
I just showed my Maverick this weekend :D shes my first car and im in love with her. Its nice to see these cars are beefed up like this. Love the build amd yes longer clips :)
Nice fab work!! I love Mavericks, great lines and a greatly overlooked hot rod. Can't wait to see the next installment of your build!
i'd say just keep posting videos when you get something done, nice to see updates. I'm pretty excited to see this all done
I think i speak for everyone when i say, BRING ON THE LONGER VIDEEEOOOOOOSSS. We wanna see progress.
This is a very cool project man . Longer videos would be nice but I will be following the build how ever you post it ! Keep up the badass build !!
Good to see that your project is back on track. I am the one with Two Mavericks and I will follow up untill you have it running. So any video you post I will be watching. Regards,
Yeah buddy! Glad to hear that.
KEEP 'EM COMING no matter how long they are!!!
Very nice work Jason, I can't wait to see that beast roaring and running around!
Will work on the sound...haven't been able to work on it recently but these will get better!
Thanks
Not yet. My friend and mentor, Mike Fennel, very recently passed away. Maverick's on pause right now. Thanks for checking in though!
Saw your mustang review on Musclecar today!! Great job man... I know you have been working towards something like this... Glad it's happening for you!!!
More frequent videos are better! Keeps me motivated to keep my POS instead of selling it! If you have extra footage that would give us a more in depth view of the process (similar to a step by step type deal) lets get that in there too! It's nice to get an idea of exactly how much work it is to do this on our own cars! Either way you are gonna have one great ride and thanks for sharing the whole process with us!
this is insane never would i thought i'd be getting into cars if this counts .i can't help but want to soak up more and more information about them . and this is coming from a bmx rider i know my bikes inside out all quality aftermarket brands . not sure if i'm moving on from that since i'm getting a camaro z28 this week .. can't wait ! love the vids man the longer the better , every sec is so informative and well i just love seeing things come together !
Thanks! I loved the ProCharger setup on Sam Hubinette's drift Viper but my budget wont allow it on this one.
Man, that must be one hell of a engine stand!!! Just keep the videos coming, long or short!!
i had been looking forward to part 2 and 3 and honestly it is an awesome idea/project. i really hope it works out and is a success. About videos, just let them coming ;) small vlogs of updates are fine.
I would like to see longer videos, compile if you have to from other days, just note the days. I can get enough of these videos man what a great idea you had!!!! i can't wait to see this thing finished!!!!!
I love this project! Great video, I'm very impressed. I subscribed and I can't wait to see what' coming up. I'm very sorry about the loss of your friend, but just keep it all moving along like I'm sure he'd want. I hope the views on these videos give you enough money to comfortably continue doing what you want to do. Good luck and keep em comin!
All I know is that I cant wait to see the video of this thing finished and put to the test at the same place the Camaro video was! A little bit longer would be great...I'm fairly certain that you'll find something productive to fill the time space! Great job and, as always, keep em coming!
dude i love mavericks and i want to see this one finished already. That was a pretty awesome idea man!! keep it up.
Hi from a french canadian! I just saw your project and i really liked it, do yours videos as long as you can, we will just enjoy it longer, thanks!
My suggestion would be to post videos at every progress level, people love to watch a project from start to finish. Thanks.
This would make a great weekly TV show. I think you have presenting skills too.
The project my dad is working on has been going for about 4 months now, he wants to put a corvette engine in his chevy malibu, he's gotta dip the hood a lot, but he's somewhat getting it to work!
Love the videos, long or short just keep them coming..
can't wait to see this bad boy light the tires up..
I wanna see some 10-15 minute video's. The 5 minutes just gets you started then its over. But please keep us posted no matter how long the video!
Yeah def more frequent vids keeps everybody goin and interested! I love them old mavericks youv done an amazing job with it i cant wait to hear that joker fire keep up the great work man!!!!!!!!!!!
longer and more frequent videos! Love all your work. keep it up :) Cannot wait to see the finished product.
Man you just look so happy, I mean, I become happy watching you do the project! Keep on going man, and keep it up with the videos. I prefer the shorter ones, so we don't have to wait three months to see one video haha. Keep it up, because you're doing it awesome.
Sincerely,
A Mopar fan
First of all you clearly don't give yourself enough credit. You are putting a Viper V10 in a Maverick, you have mechanical skills. Secondly, I bet most of us wing it as well, so info on what doesn't work is usually as helpful as what does!
And if you ever film in the mountains down in the San Diego/Palomar area, let me know! I'd love to be a chase camera car!
Thanks again and keep up the great videos!
This is an awesome and unique project man! Longer videos for sure! But if not just keep cranking out the awesome videos!!!
do not have a maverick but love the build your doing i would love longer videos, and sorry to here about the passing of your friend,
very clean build, cant wait to see the finished product. you should get a rear window decal made for it saying " Ford makes it, Mopar shakes it "
Glad I came across this, never heard of anything of this sort!
I'd like to watch more and see what going on with the build.
More frequent AND longer! haha. I know you can only work as fast as you can work, and then it takes more time to edit together the videos, but I'm really enjoying your stuff. Keep it coming!
I really like the videos. It would be nice to see longer videos, but it's probably better that we can see things as they happen so we can see more of the progress being done than to just see a bunch of work done at the end.
Awesome! Thanks so much for your service.
awesome build! I were closer, I would love to lend a hand building this beast... Nothing better than a one-off custom setup!!!
cant wait for the next video im very interested in this project of yours dude. especially the story behind it of why your building it about your father and stuff its awesome. hope you keep going and really hope to see it finished. would love to see more videos of the project in short or long dont matter to me. aslong as we get to see the project then im just as happy as you man. :) keep your dream of this project going dude im right behind you with it gonna be a beautiful car. :)
Amazing goal to do a maverick with a V 10 Viper engine, that is so Kool. I vote that you make the videos longer. but if you keep them short I still like to series any way.
the mechanic view is freakin amazing! keep up the good work
I might be able to get another video up in the next week or so...money is tight and I'm looking to get the Cam swap done here pretty soon and maybe some more fab work...thanks!
Sorry to hear about your friend Mike Fennel. I would like to see longer videos, but that is just my opinion. Really great videos! Keep em' coming!
this thing is gonna be awesome when it's done...I can't wait....Longer videos please
What year Galaxie? I totally dig those...get it running and post a video for sure!
This build is BEYOND sick!!!!!
5 min videos are fine during the build up. Keep up the good work!
Awesome job on the car, it looks like it's coming together nicely. I love your out of the box thinking by putting a V-10 in a Maverick, thats just badass. I'm sorry to hear about your friend Mike's passing. Hopefully you can continue to work on the car in the shop. As for the videos, i think you should keep posting them as they happen., Anyways keep up the work looking forward to hear it run.
Keep the vids coming! I have a 70 Maverick & your project is inspiring & informative.
i really would prefer long vids, just love long and detailed build videos!
Sorry to hear that. I'm sure he would have loved to see that thing finished.
My thoughts with his family.
Man what your doing I'd so sick!!! Not a big fan of ford engineering but their cars are the best looking ones out there! Keep up the good work and I think these videos should be longer!
I hate to be a stickler, and I enjoyed the video, but you hosed up the part about "lift with your legs not with your back". Anxious to see the finish of this beast!
yes these video need to be longer . more please... wonderful project..Love it
first incubus in part 2 and now foo fighters in part 3! mad props for awesome music guys! awesome maverick too!
no matter how long, but just update as soon as possible, cant wait to here it fire up
You have inspired me to go get my dad's old galaxie that is just sitting in his backyard and do something with that
Keep the videos coming..always looking forward to the next one.
keep the videos coming, cant wait to see it finished
I'd like to see more videos and longer ones please. I'm working on a 66 mustang and always looking for ideas.
Sweet as man u should do longer vids mate I'm from Australia and I'm a huge huge fan on vipers and old school cars I can't wait to see ur next video
Really any video wood be great short long I'll take either. Love the build . Im building my parents 74 mav they bought new after getting married . Its been passed from them to my brother then to me .
make longer videos,i am intrigued!! i love the one of a kind concept!! i just scored a 1971 maverick and of course im looking for ideas,
this is the coolest build ive seen in a long time. An average guy on a modest budget building a cool car. why is this not on speed or spike something??? keep it up ill be watching for new videos.
I am JUST new to your Maverick build and am enjoying so far. I had to stop and comment though...when you rolled the motor over and dumped you dog's food onto the floor, the first thing to run thru my mind...."RAT ROD" ENJOY YOUR CAR!!! Don't forget to take it out for a run every day...along with your dog :) Cheers!
More vids and longer vids plz!! Can't wait for the next segment.
Like the idea of shorter more frequent videos. You can always combine & edit them at a later date to more properly chronicle your progress.
Keep up the good work...
Im glad I just found this me and my dad are planning to do something similar with a 32 plymouth coupe. just need to come up with 6k to buy a wrecked srt10 truck from my dads friend.
This is an awesome build you're doing a great job man, I'm just gonna keep watching and hope to learn something
more videos the better, this is amazing. my mind is blown.
Wow, happy I came across this video. Awsome job. Can't wait for my son to get alttile older so we can start one. Keep the video coming.
