  • Correcting an Bad Uneven Rideline on a Left Handed Beauty Shear by Sharpening on a Waterstone. This is a demonstration sharpening tutorial for a left handed honed Joewell beauty shear with a rideline that is uneven. This video shows what to do if a shear is out of alignment and you can't bend it. The alignment can be repaired with waterstone work.

    If you freshen up the rideline, that area is flat. But when you look at the shears through the light, they are concave... how does that work? Do I have to re-bend every shear after flattening the rideline?
    Thank you.

      I know the geometry is confusing. There is a built in flex to the blade. Pressure at the pivot flattens the shear to work the rideline. Don't over think it.

    hey bonnie do you use a parts cleaner or a sonic cleaner for your clipper blades, and this was a really helpful video as i run into no bend scissors and thanks to you i have learned just how important rideline technique is so thanks again.....

      Yes, I use an ultra sonic cleaner. I’ve experimented with several additives to the water. What do you use?

      @@BonikaShears I'm mostly a groomer but as I find I'm doing more and more sharpening I'm trying to see what will work best to clean batches so I dont have to keep cleaning by hand. I'm looking to see exactly what others are using. What liquids do you use with your sonic cleaner.

    When creating a ride line are you worried about the top side of the blade?

    • @BonikaShears
      @BonikaShears  4 года назад

      Tim Mansfield if the blade has the right set or alignment and your pressure is over the pivot hole the top side of the blade absolutely will not touch the stone. Be sure you are flat on the stone, no rotating or rocking even when lifting it up off the stone. I guess the last person who sharpened these did not know that.

      Check out my other videos on shear sharpening. This one was specifically about the ride line for my 80 year old friend. With nearly 400 videos uploaded, I don’t want to be repetitive. But thank you for commenting and watching to the end.

    Странно, что до сих пор демонстрируете настолько отсталую технологию доводки ридлайн. Попробуйте так довести ридлайн ножниц JAGUAR 1-го или 2-го klass с высокой пяткой. И потом вы не восстановили ширину ридлайн 0.25-0.35 mm, и теперь ридлайн будет служить перехватом между лезвий. Где восстановление concave? Все тесты на салфетке это Филькина грамота, лезвия быстро притупятся с подобной заточкой.

      For those like me who do not read Russian I have the translation below. My answer is as always before, we all can improve our sharpening and if you have a better way and will share it with other sharpeners, please explain to us exactly how you do it so we can copy and improve, IF your way is better and more cost effective. If you are just wanting to say you are so much better, no one benefits from your comments. I would be delighted to post a video showing how you sharpen,..... NOT JUST THE RESULTS OF YOUR SHARPENING. Thank you for the honor of having you watch my videos.
      Translation based on Google Translate:
      It's strange that you are still demonstrating such a backward technology for fine-tuning the readline. Try to adjust the JAGUAR 1st or 2nd class high heel readline. And then you didn't restore the width of the readline to 0.25-0.35 mm, and now the readline will serve as an intercept between the blades. Where is the concave recovery? All tests on a napkin are Filkin's certificate, the blades will quickly become dull with a similar sharpening.
