Hey Michael, great review! Very realistic and honest. I have the 33mm and the 85mm Viltrox AF and they are great. The 85mm is my favorite for indoor fast action low light. It's amazing... I'm sure the 56 is great! I've heard good things about that one. The 33 sometimes takes a little more time to focus but not bad for a noticeably lower price than the others. Not sure if others had the same experience
Hi! Thanks for sharing about your experience with some other Viltrox lenses. It’s good to know that there are some lower cost, but very high value, lens options available for Fuji. Cheers!
I'm also going to pair it with my xt3! 5:05 and this photo 9:36 is really amazing! Watching this before receiving my camera and lens helped me know what to expect. This is the best review of the lens I have watched so far! Very detailed, honest and got specific samples. Thanks for sharing!
Great review. I do like the convenient of zoom lenses a lot, but for our Fujifilm APSC system I prefer the fast standard primes to lower my ISO, better background separations and small size. I do own both 23mm and 56mm from Viltrox, and sold my XF23/56 for them. But as soon as Fuji's 23/56mm mark II arrived I will jump back for the WR, faster linear motors, closer min. distance and better edge/corner sharpness, hopefully they will live up my expectations.
Hi! Thanks for sharing this. I think I needed a little time at f/1.4 to fully understand the allure of fast primes. Lol. It will be interesting to see what MK II Fuji’s are like at at what price. For my use and budget, these Viltrox at 1/3 price are really compelling. Happy photo adventures!
Thanks Michael. Did they fixed the video AF rack speed? It was always fast no matter the in camera settings. I am thinking of buying this lens, however the CA and fringing is what concerns me, also the minimal focus distance compared to the Fujinon 23mm f1.4, not sure how serious those are in real life.
Hi Bojan! I have not used the Viltrox 23mm with video since the latest firmware update, so can't answer the focus question - sorry! For the price, I have no complaints with this lens, in fact, I just used it over the weekend on a wedding and am really happy with the photos. The lens has some "personality" to it, which I like, but it may not be for everyone. Cheers!
Hi Erik! We all have our different journeys and it’s so fun to learn from the experience of others. Many thanks for taking the time to share your comment. Cheers!
Hi! Thanks for watching. Yes, I think Viltrox lenses would work well for portraits. I now use the Viltrox 23mm for my YoutTube videos talking to camera in office scenes and really like the quality. I have the 75mm and will be using that as main portrait lens. Cheers!
Hi! I’ve used the 23mm f/1.4 a little for video and it mostly works very well. Sometimes, it will hunt for focus more than Fuji lenses, but the image quality is lovely. I have not used the 33mm f/1.4 at all, so have no opinion on that for video. Cheers!
Hi Michael, I have this lens and I find it to be awesome. I'd say it is THE lens on my xe3 (50%) of the time. The xe3 is my small portable fuji set. Btw (1): How do you remove the aberrations? just the single click on LR doesnt work for me all that well. Btw (2): I bought the 56mm 1.4 and ended up returning it because I found the AF to be a little weird. I had the latest firmware. But tbh, i have a sony a7 with tamron 70-180 and found that the 56mm wasnt much used anyway.
Hi again. Yes, the LR one click doesn’t work well for this. Try the manual mode of adjustments in “Lens Corrections” in defringe section. Turn up the amounts of Purple and Green to at least 30-40, and then expand the range of Purple and Green as well. Another option is to reduce the saturation of the fringing color in the HSL/Color panel. This only works if the fringe color is not anywhere else in your photo. Hope that helps!
Hi! In my experience, there is chromatic aberration if you have a subject that is backlit and has strong contrast (for example, tree branches). But, that CA can be reduced or eliminated with software. Also, this is true of many Fuji lenses. Cheers!

I use the 21mm 1.5 ttartisan, this lens looks interesrting but I didn't see a whole lot of difference in the photos between it and the 1.5.
Hi! Interesting about the TTartisans 21mm. I have not used that, but can easily see where these two lenses would be quite similar. Thanks!

Ive been shooting with fast primes all my "photography life" and am just now starting to get interested in zoom lenses =P
Great review!

Hey, Viltrox lens are good enough for portrait photography? Do you recommend this brand?

Viltrox 23mm 1.4 & 33mm 1.4 perfect video on FUJI?

Hi! It’s such a great jeans for the price - I’m learning to appreciate it more and more. Thanks for sharing!
@@MSladekPhoto but how do you remove the color fringing?

I have 85 and it is great, but I'm afraid of CA in this 23mm ;/
