    Rode this all season last year and it's my favorite board in the Mervin lineup. The shape and flex make for a board that floats perfectly in pow and smashes through the ruts on the second half of the day without tiring you out. It's easy to load up and the pop will send you. It also straight lines and handles firm and icy conditions just fine. If someone was to make a board with the premise of being optimized for all conditions while being surfy and fun to ride, this is it. Placed in a Venn diagram this board sits directly where all attributes overlap, and your knees will thank you for that.

      @shred_pow_pow - what bindings are you riding on that? I picked up a last year Rig and was thinking about putting (also last years, new design) my Forces on there but I'm curious what others like...

    Awesome review. I'm a bit shocked Lib came out with another noodle pro model.

      Thanks. I guess it's all perspective so if you like really stiff freeride boards this isn't it but I would say it's far from being a noodle. It's got a medium to medium stiff flex.

    You mentioned in your review that "if you're riding a lot of hard, aggressive snow you can get more magne-traction" than what the Lib Rig offers. I'm curious as to what boards you would recommend that would have more aggressive edge hold than this. The summer sales have begun, and I'm looking to buy a board that can be specifically used on hard pack and icy conditions on groomers. I ride traditional Burton camber and I do like to ride switch often, but I'm an older guy and I mostly enjoy puttering around the mountain and carving. I don't do the park at all. Sometimes I find the conditions to be a bit too icy for my tastes and wanted to find a safe, recreational board that is specifically designed for hard pack and ice.
    Boards I was considering: Gnu Antigravity, Lib Rig, maybe some form of Arbor...

      Yes you can. It has their .5/mellow mag which grips super hard but isn't their full on super grippy mag. Take a look at the Banked Country, TRS, Gremlin, YES Basic Uninc, or go here thegoodride.com/snowboard-reviews/?mens=1 and sort by Edge Hold to find more. Don't go Arbor as the lifted sides/uprise fender make the board feel edgeless and washy in hard snow. How would you compare it to Ejack Knife?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  5 месяцев назад +1

      Ejack has more camber and more aggressive magnetraction. It will turn/carve harder than the Lib Rig and grip really well in hard to icy snow. I'd prefer the Lib Rig in soft snow to powder and like that it's a little more forgiving ride. Both are pretty fun rides.

    James - picked up an older (straight up classic camber) WinterStick this year. Have you ever tested one? I'd be curious to hear you take.
    My new go to for Ice Coast (unless a random deep day)

      I haven't tried them. They reached out, I said send some rides and then nothing happened. Hope it actually happens next season.

    I actually thought it handled speed great, if you team it with jones mercury bindings it is quite damp 😁

      Yeah so did I. It's pretty fast for an all mtn board.

    Currently riding a C2 board (Cold Brew) and was looking for a mellow C3 board like the Anti Gav/Dynamo...ect.. Would you say the Lib Rig with the early risk in it is the most forgiving for the C3 boards? Maybe best one suited for an intermediate? I have demoed the Dynamo cause I head that it was the most forgiving f the C3s. I could handle it but really had to be mindful and careful on it. Thinking the Lib rig might be a bit more forgiving?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  4 месяца назад

      Yeah if you want something directional like your Cold Brew the Lib Rig would be a good transition and is definitely more forgiving. If you want to stay with Lib and want something more forgiving than the Dynamo that would be the call. It's better in pow too. If you want to get into it more hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

    Rode a lib rig for a bit super fun ride but dam Mervin really needs to do better with their bases and ditch that magnetraction 😁

      @thegoodridesnow  5 месяцев назад

      @snowbdr89 I don't think it changed. I was told its the same and they dont usually do a new mold after just making one. Costs a lot of cash. I think they just changed the description to better match what the boards camber actually was in 2024 and is in 2025.

    • @snowbdr89
      @snowbdr89 5 месяцев назад

      @@thegoodridesnow it’s changed to a more regular camber a bit set back with early rise on the nose.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  5 месяцев назад

      Its pretty much what it had in 2024 too. They just didnt do a good job in the description. That happens a lot with Mervin. Its more accurately described now for 2025 but seems to be almost the same board
