  • The point system in BO4 received a pretty major change from the previous Zombies games, so I decided to try to explain how it works to the best of my ability as well as give my thoughts on the changes

    I've been wondering this for the past three years, thanks for explaining it in a quick and clear way. I think I also prefer the old system but I can still appreciate this one for simplicity.

      @@shrekyomom cold war is a bad zombies experience.
      No intros, not even proper outros for maps, just exfils with extra steps.
      The gun rarities just overly complicate things for no reason.
      A gun is a gun and all guns should be able to kill, just cause a gun is purple, shouldn't mean diddly squat.
      Scorestreaks are brokenly overpowered, they arn't even fun to use after a while they are just they cause it makes the game so easy some players actively avoid them.
      The armor system replacing the zombie shield. Its like having a shield around you at all times, which also makes the game way to easy.
      The wonder weapons are overpowered, as they should be, but due to ammo crates theres no reason to worry about ammo as a resource.
      No crew automatically makes the maps feel boring and lack luster. Casual operators are boring and don't bring anything fun to the experience except as a way for them to sell Microtransactions.
      The field upgrades are lame, sure they have their utility, but items like those could be implimented in a far better way, as they all look copy paste for their designs and the abilitys they give arn't really impressive and just make the game even easier.
      Perk upgrades also make the gamemode way to easy, many players earn the upgrades super easily due to how easy the game is already, so now everyone is even more overpowered just from buying one perk
      Upgrading in general isn't bad but because there isn't a cap or form of limitation on the perks, they all become way too overpowered without any form of consquence for using said OP perks.
      Nacht, again... for launch, like seriously, come up with a 100% new map, most maps in coldwar are MP maps with zombies aka outbreak, or the maps are major campaign areas reskinned. Unoriginal and leads to less replayability.
      The maps have no personality, the hud matches MP exactly and due to the lack of a crew theres barely a zombies feel to it all.
      The wunderfizz being on every map makes all the perk machines useless as no one even uses them if the wonderfizz is avalible.
      The story is uninteresting as the only way they could keep people interested is by connecting it to the normal Aether story, so instead of getting new and original content like the Chaos story, we get lots of elements from a story thats already over that they do such a bad job with their story , they have to use old characters to keep a new story interesting.

    This also completely ruins gameplay in higher rounds, say after round 40 a group of zombies takes half of your ammo for a gun. In this case there is no way to earn enough points to sustain gameplay ie to buy traps, ammo and different guns. This new system is very hurtful to high round attempts. Also very well done on this video.

    Anyone else notice that on BO4, the higher round you are on, the more points you spend on perks, etc ? I am on DOTN, round 91. I had 2 million points, I bought 2 perks (dying wish and Victorious tortoise) and a shield repair for 2500 points. But for some reason I lost 500K !!!! How does that work !?

    I think this is far better.
    Cause it means you play with whats effective instead of using a bad gun just for points.
    I feel that system leads players to keep a gun they don't want to use later as a way of getting points instead of using what guns are best to do what the mode is about. Killing undead.

    • @theGODZILLA150
      @theGODZILLA150  3 года назад +1

      Honestly, I liked having that option because it was a risk and reward mechanic. By sacrificing a good weapon, you can earn more points, but if you got caught with the wrong weapon out (especially in high rounds) you would almost certainly die

    • @yaboiferret8681
      @yaboiferret8681 2 года назад +3

      No. Not only does it make gameplay less interesting because you can no longer strategize to maximize points, but it also means there is no hierarchy of guns. In old cod games you would have to choose between a bad gun for good points or a good gun for bad points. But it wasn’t just black and white there was a scale between those two extremes. Meaning every gun had some sort of purpose ( or at least most guns ) now there is absolutely no point in using any gun but the best killing one. Zero point. No point in buying wall guns, it makes more sense just to spam the box looking for the best gun in the game. And until you get it all other guns are useless. There is not a single reason to use an smg in bo4. Not one. Do you see now how that’s a problem? If we want to make it simpler just remove all the guns in the game except wonder weapons and the best killing gun. That’s basically the system we have but with rng to get that gun, aka the same thing with extra steps. It’s a bad system, the previous point system was perfect and worked for over a decade, why they changed it I will never know

      @@yaboiferret8681 Treyarch actually addressed this. The reason they changed it was because of public match players (including a sibling I believe of a developer) was yelled at in public matches for playing “wrong” with the points system. And to be honest, it is a little backwards from a game design standpoint using bad guns and bodyshots for good points, it just stalls out the early rounds and wastes your time, and in my opinion there are better ways to offer risk reward like melee bonuses (although the free Bowie knife in Cold War is stupid). Shouldn’t the game reward good accuracy with headshots instead of just hitting the body? I don’t think the old point system is terrible or anything, but i much prefer the newer one for it’s simplicity. It also makes shotguns not completely useless anymore (although now they are kind of OP…). It is true though that smgs aren’t great now, I kind of wish they’d either bump up the damage closer to AR level or perhaps try to give some sort of enhancement to them (like really fast movement speed). Cold War’s weapon rarity system kind of fixed that, but not completely.

    • @yaboiferret8681
      @yaboiferret8681 2 года назад

      @@jackmcnally8706 so many things wrong with that comment. Okay so I’m aware of the sibling of the developer story. It’s dumb. If getting yelled at in CALL OF DUTY the game that set the god damn standard for open mic trash talking for an entire generation, is enough to make you not want to play the game, maybe we shouldn’t tailor the game to what you prefer since obviously you’re not a real fan and weren’t gonna stick around anyway. It is not backwards that bad guns give good points. It’s pretty much the only way to balance the guns in zombies because as I previously stated, there is a scale between two extremes being great for points, and great for killing. All the guns fall somewhere on that line and it is up to your personal preference what you want to use, or since you can have two guns it is ideal most of the time to have a great point gun, and a great killing gun. In bo4 and now Cold War and such, since all guns give the same points thag scale no longer exists and it only makes sense to use the absolute strongest gun since literally every other gun in the game puts you at a disadvantage. That means the balance was thrown out the fucking window. Give me one good reason to use an smg in bo4. Just one. It doesn’t exist. And as for shotguns being useful, they were useful in bo3. Can’t speak about bo2 cause I didn’t really use them back then but I love every shotgun in bo3 except the Argus. Which isn’t saying it’s bad I just personally don’t like it. Yeah they have shit points but they were amazing at killing, you know, the whole fucking point I’ve been trying to get across in these massive fucking rants. Every gun in bo3 has a purpose, it is up to your own playstyle to determine which guns out of the 30 or so you actually want to use. You know what my number one gun is in bo3 ? Overall kills ? The kuda, because I like points. In bo4 do you know how many kills I have with the mx9 ? Less than 100. Because it’s literally fucking useless and there’s zero reason to use it because it gives the same amount of points as for example, a ray gun which does 10x fucking damage and will keep you alive way longer. Which may sound like a good thing but it’s taking away the choice from the player of how they want to play, and are they willing to risk going down for more points? There are less ways to play the game, and 90 percent of the guns are absolutely useless completely destroying any sense of balance in a game mode that had pretty fucking good balance. The change is bad in every way

      @@yaboiferret8681 Ok I get it, I’m not changing your mind. You don’t have to be so aggressive about it. I’m not saying the new system is perfect. But it is a lot more intuitive and generally understandable. And shotguns are terrible in BO3 and before since they give you almost no points (the systems where each pellet gives points in Exos and WW2 fixed this issue though). Plus, with that old system, you still have a meta, it only changes the first maybe 10-15 rounds until you max your load out, then you go to the best possible weapon and have more than enough points to do whatever. But now you have to waste time on body shots in the early rounds for no real reason. Also, while this doesn’t mean the balance critique is wrong, you don’t have to use the strongest weapon, use what is fun to you. You are allowed to prefer the old points system, and it’s not terrible, but I just think the new one has a lot of advantages over the old one.
      I will say I think it makes sense for wonder weapons to only give 50 points becuase of their strength, especially now since you can buy ammo from crates for them and don’t need a max ammo drop.
      Lastly, not playing “most optimally” is no excuse for bullying people online. That’s not cool. I know the COD community is incredibly toxic, but muting people doesn’t fix the problem, it just pushes it to another person later and prevents possibly constructive fun conversation.
