Tony DeMarco - Was an American boxer and World Welterweight Champion. Born to Sicilian immigrants from Sciacca (AG), Vincent and Giacomina, DeMarco grew up in the North End neighborhood of Boston. DeMarco fought the top fighters in his division during the 1950s and defeated top contenders and champions like Paddy DeMarco, Teddy "Red Top" Davis, Chico Vejar and Don Jordan. The highlight of his career came on April 1, 1955, when he scored a technical knock out (TKO) over Johnny Saxton in the 14th round of their title bout to capture the world’s welterweight title. DeMarco's legacy is an undying part of Boston's history. Training under Boston greats such as Frankie Waters, DeMarco was able to sell out the Boston Garden, breaking attendance records. Mayor Thomas Menino even honored DeMarco with a street, named after him, in Boston's famous North End. The street, which is perpendicular to Atlantic Ave, is named "Tony DeMarco Way".

Sadly one of the hardest hitting Welterweights in Boxing history passed away yesterday morning. Tony DeMarco was an excellent fighter who became world champion in 1955 when he knocked out Johnny Saxton in 14 rounds. My condolences go out to his family and friends at this time.
This is a reminder of how back in the 40s and the 50s, the top 10 in the various weight classes consisted of VERY tough and skilled customers.
Yeah it was one of the most competitive eras in boxing history. Guys had to really learn the craft to be a contender and earn a title shot. There was no Otto Wallins and unranked guys getting handed shots other than pure politics like Floyd Patterson before he fought Liston.
That's why title fights back then mean way for me in terms of legacy than most title fights now
Happens right after a world war.
Yes! They were a different breed. The most superior era of fighters boxing ever produced in my opinion.
Boxing is getting ruined because of the amount of belts it has
R.i.P. champ! He just got inducted into IBHOF recently too.
I was fortunate enough to know Tony personally. He was very humble and always gave credit to his brethren in the sport of boxing. He was a tremendous and great fighter, and even a greater person. We will miss him.
He lived to be up there. Almost 90 years old.
Great fighter. Glad he got into HOF and lived to see that
GREAT fighter! Tony was a true warrior...and a class act!!! R.I.P. champ...
The great old time fighters will live on forever in our memories. They fought for pride and wanted to prove they were the best.. Men were men then. My condolences to the De Marco family.
God bless this Great Great fighter with love Forever and Ever !!
He was a devastating heavy puncher for sure. I love to see his boxing. RIP Champ. Beautiful video Hanza.
I've read about him, but this is the first time I have seen any video of him. Thanks.
R.I.P. a true boxing legend 🥊💣
Goodnight, Tony. A true Gladiator .
Demarco dead? That's really hurts man. Fought a great fight against Carmen Basilio.
I didn’t know either aswell mate
@@Boxeo250 I didn't even know he was still alive. I thought he died years ago.
@@antoniomosley9410 same but no he lived to almost 90 despite probably having so many wars in boxing. Atleast he saw his induction into IBHOF before he passed
@@Boxeo250 Agree.
He fought two great fights with Basilio. Tough as nails.
Good article on DeMarco in the latest issue of Boxing News. RIP Tony.
Rip champ a long life full of many stories now on to a new life with the other great fighters.
Rest In Peace Champ. 🌹
Italian blood fighter🇮🇹👊
Today's boxers wouldn't last 12rds with guys like there let alone 15rds of punishment. Tony's style reminds me of Rocky Marciano both hard hitting bulls and tough as an old season Lion
Glad to see he finally made the Hall of Fame. Especially after seeing Andre Ward, Arturo Gatti, Barry McGuigan and Time Bradley get in. Tony was more deserving.
Love your channel
One of the greatest
He took risks, but he had tasted their hardest digs, an thought "i can punch like a windmill" thats a compliment, great video, and grabbing old footage, i prefer seeing the fighters av never heard of an deserve recognition, greeat eulogy hanza, rip big hitter, brave soul your on ere forever, never forgotten
America used to be such masculine force in the world. Now it's nothing
We spend all of our energy making sure no one's feelings get hurt.
Feminized society. They try to demasculinize us and it appears to be working on many. Now China will have an easy takeover.
60's Welterweight might have been a great golden age
RESPECT💓💖
Brave man rip
R.I.P
I've notice something the Rings of old were huge as fk... Why do they make smaller rings now?.
Solo gli Italiani sanno combattere così ❤
