The steamdeck gives you a battery estimate readout for the game/settings you're running. The 8 hours is for super undemanding indie games, for the triple a titles that really push the system you're looking at like 2 hours with decent screen brightness 60hz
Agreed! My deck runs it great, although I had to watch a quick video to fix some black textures but being a complete novice to Linux, it was very easy!
Im more intrested about how controllable ACC and automobilista 2 are than graphics, is the handling ok? I normally play with a wheel so not sure how theyd handle with the deck.
Maybe you could say a word or two about the difficulty? I am looking for a more... casual experience and I've just read a review saying that 'Dirt 2.0 is the Darksouls of racing games', which fits to what I know about those games. Sooo, in case I am pretty unexperienced with racing games, maybe I should look for something else?
What about Dakar Desert Rally, does that play on the Steam Deck? About a month ago you did a preview from a prerelease of this game. Would appreciate it if you could try this out on Steam Deck.
just a heads up: yes, you can install games from other launchers, but the games bought on the microsoft/xbox store don't work with the proton layer (yet). they work if you install windows on your steam deck, but that also is less than optimal.
Pourrais-tu m'envoyer tes réglages du jeu ACC car je n'arrive pas à bien régler la partie "contrôles" pour que ce soit jouable sur steamdeck ? Et merci pour ta vidéo. 😊👍
I would love a Steam Deck, looks amazing. I’ve been playing Forza Horizon 5, Fire Pro Wrestling World, WWE 2K22, Star Wars Squadron, Dirt 5, Killer Instinct and a bunch of others all on my iPhone recently (and posted some vids) on the move, just so that I can get my gaming fix. Amazing that you could play these games with touchscreen controls but SD would be so much better
Having real trouble getting any of my games running nowadays, let alone 60fps. Pushing down to 40fps doesnt help, my Steam games still lag down to 8fps making them unplayable. At least my retro games work 🙄
Racing games are generally easier to run than other AAA games (just look at Cyberpunk demands vs FH5 or F1 22 for example) so the Deck should be good for this genre for quite a while.
@@kevinhadj82 yeah, that only goes to show how good racing games will run in the foreseeable future, since they are much much lighter despite also looking pretty good :)
is there a realistic racing game on the Steam Deck? Somehow the cars seem to be floating on the road... I could play some racing games in the arcade center in the '80s or '90s, or Moto Racer 1997 and those are more realistic than some of the racing games nowadays

I would love to see a video where you guys try out various wheels with the Deck. I purchased on fairly recently and would like to know if other brands besides Logitech work on this and Linux in general. Unfortunately I have a Thrustmaster wheel and they have always been bullheaded and giving Linux any support. I have no idea if other brands work out of the box or not, and don't have the money to test. It may be a good video to make now since there was a Spring Sale that made the Deck 10% off. I know there were many more people that bought it. At the very least, it will be informative and perhaps light a fire under some of these brands to bring support to Linux and the Deck.
got mine yesterday and waiting for my 512 Samsung Evo plus to drop, so I can buy a couple of titles and also port some over from my steam Library. worth the wait.
Not putting Grid 2019 on this list is an absolute crime... It actually runs at a stable 60fps in high detail and looks utterly stunning on the Steam Deck!
Baseus has a really good 8 in 1 with pd pass-through on sale for like half off on Amazon rn. High quality and super cheap compared to other docks that do half the stuff this one does. EDIT: here's the link, it's no longer on sale but still well worth 40$ www.amazon.com/dp/B08X73SVXN?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
why the fuck would you play with a racing wheel and pedals on a platform that will barely render your racing game at 1080p 60fps. Its a portable machine lol Buy yourself a real pc/laptop, or if you dont have the budget, console is a way better idea
There’s also the nascar games, even though from evolution to heat 3 has some bad to mixed reception heat 4 and 5, plus the eutechnyx games do work on there
F1 games are pretty good. Definitely a different feel to F1 compared to pc or console. Probably cos I've never played it on such a small screen. It plays well. I play the title with both a controller or a wheel on other devices. Deck feels good in the hands and I've beat a few times I can't on the wheel. Not massive gains. I'll admit I play F1 way too much. I've got a copy on pc, Xbox and ps lol. Just so there is always access to it lol. Often my console being used, so I can remotely hop onto another one.
I tried to play Forza on my steamdeck but couldn't because Microsoft doesn't recognise any email addresses to create an account because I haven't got an Xbox account and it comes up with that I'm not a robot thing over n over even when u get it right ended up getting a refund from steam
Despite not being that much into racing gamed, I loved Split Second quite a lot. Too bad that the stupid rubber band mechanics utterly ruined this game for me at some point. Well, maybe I am giving this a second try on the Deck.
For a "fully supported" or "natively supported"... (I mean, for a game that Steam themselves confirms to be compatible with running on their handheld system) ...it runs absolutely horrendous. The resolution is HD-ready (which is 720p, not HD!) And you said the graphics preset was on Low. It should not stutter, rubber-band, clip smoke (if used in ideal situations, meaning the device is being used like it should and is not overheating). If it does not run on the low settings & on the lowest imaginable resolution for 2022 tech.? Then I'm not a customer.
FH5 isn't the best example 'cuz it still needs some optimization to work well on the Deck. Most other racing games tho are working pretty well and you also gotta keep in mind the form factor and the power constrains - you can't expect 450 watt RTX 4090 levels of performance there - it's only 15 watt max for the CPU and the GPU COMBINED. Let's be somewhat sensible there.
This is pretty much like having a ps4 or xbox one in your hands. Very nice

Cyberpunk gets me like 1.5 hours at best. Probably the hardest running game I've tested
I always reduce the framerate to 40. it’s visually better than 30 and allows a significantly longer runtime…
@@erebostd ytes 40hz 40fps is the way to go for steam deck!
Beamng also works pretty good on the steam deck, but they are still working on some optimizations.

Split second was so underrated. Im happy you gave it a shoutout. Everyone seems to have forgotten about it.
Wreckfest is not just an amazing game, it is also incredibly well optimized. It released on mobile too, and it plays really smoothly there too.
Does anyone know how to get to run Assetto Corsa? Every time I try to run it it just crashes. 😢

Dirt Rally is also a top racing game for the deck. The first Dirt Rally. Top graphics, 60fps stable, low component usage. My main deck game!
Project Cars 2 works but you have to tweak control settings for the right trigger to work
Ngl I would prob spend tons of time on art of rally if I had a steamdeck , I'm a bit surprised it wasn't on the list
What about Dakar Desert Rally, does that play on the Steam Deck? About a month ago you did a preview from a prerelease of this game. Would appreciate it if you could try this out on Steam Deck.
Wreckfest is great. The only real frame drops that are super noticeable are in the replay mode

Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching!
Where is FlatOut 2 and all the Dirt games?
And Outrun2 ?
Isnt Trail Out playable on Steam Deck,i think it is though.Waiting for the review first
F1 22 use to work on it but back in late July, EA repeased a patch update that now makes the f1 22 game crash instantly
sounds like a normal ea update to me
On the steam deck if you use GE-Proton 7-35, that stops the crashing at start on f1 22

Can you play Gran Turismo on emulation?
The Codies F1 games did broadly work quite well. 21 had a couple bugs in Braking Point, but 22 afaik was totally fine until the patch that borked it
Might get one in the future if it keeps up with upcomming games
