I'm watching this in 2020 and I found my old Wii and I was bored in quarantine thx for helping me out with cleaning it
Yeah, this is the perfect time to be digging out your old consoles and just camp out in front of your television.
If you’re really bored, I also highly recommend home brewing your wii. There’s a few ways to do it, all of which are pretty easy.

I’ve been considering cleaning my old wii and selling it but now I gotta get a tri wing screw driver in the middle of a quarantine
Amazon still sells them, it just takes longer for it to arrive. You might also be able to find it in a hardware store.
This helped me out big time. Bought a second hand Wii and it was decent dirty, now it looks fresh again and I am comfortable using it now it is cleaned. I also found out it is Gamecube compatible, my mind was blown 🤯 Cant wait to find out your other cleaning instruction videos for the controllers, nunchunk(?) and other consoles.

Thank you so much. Yeah, there has been a lot of stuff happening lately, like packing and getting our own house ready to sell. And then nothing. It's been really weird, but one day (hopefully soon) we'll be happily living on a little farmstead with our horses and video games. :)

I decided to go on my wii again after a long time and it is really glitchy it’s epilepsy so i can barely see, so when I checked it was really dusty so I cleaned the dust but now it is still acting the same way is their anyway to fix it or do I have to open my wii

Yeah, that's often the case. Most people don't think of electronics as something that needs periodic cleaning. A lot of my friends have never cleaned any of their consoles, even consoles older than your Wii. They are still using them, though. It's like a ticking timebomb.

I don't understand why people struggle to put the Wii model since the 2011 version is different from the 2006 one.
Thanx for the vid but to save money and not have to worry about breathing dust so much, I use a vacuum with the dusting brush attachment and a 1 1/2 inch paint brush to get in those nooks and crannies, for cleaning electronics and computers, then use contact cleaner to clean all the electrical connections, cleaning the casing/doors, etc with mild cleaning wipes.
Good video, easy to understand basic cleaning.
But what if I have to clean the laser lens as well?
Are there any videos you can recommend for that?

A bit of a weird design, a vent hole on the bottom. I guess you're always meant to use that weird stand.
Yeah, the Wii is a weird design from top to bottom. If you need to clean the lens, simply use a Q-tip with isopropyl alcohol. Very gently tap the lens. Try not to rub the dirt off, as it is easy to scratch the lens that way. Then use the dry end of the Q-tip to tap off any remaining isopropyl alcohol.

I know this video doesn't contain them but question........ ribbon cables, seems like they get really brittle with age. Is that true or is it just my luck??
They shouldn't, but they certainly feel that way. I always try to be very careful around any ribbon cables.
Does the wii model you have support double layered disc's? As I've been trying to get a game to work and it's double layered and would like to know as a general query

Yes, as Misterixgil pointed out. Sounds like there is a problem with your laser.
Vigerp yeah because my wii is 8 years and i have a really long time that i don’t clean inside of my wii and it still works is a laser problem that was a problem back then during wii era nintendo were given cleaning kits and repairing the wii’s with the problem

The Wii is a difficult beast to open, if you are unfamiliar with its design. There are a bunch of small screws all over the place - most of which doesn't seem to serve any purpose. And several are also security tri-wing screws. Don't feel bad if it takes you a while to figure everything out. :)
