    I’m impressed at how not crap these are. Just returning to the hobby in middle age, so I’d never heard of them until a couple of months ago. The only thing I don’t like about them is what they mean for older brands like Tamiya. Tamiya clearly run on bigger profit margins than WL Toys, with plastic friction shocks at this price point, but perhaps spend more time on the looks of their buggies, usually with a nicer shape and decals etc. I much prefer the look of Tamiya stuff, but these seem to perform better...

    Those tires are for off-road Phil, they are for hard-packed dirt tracks for racing. Anytime you get a small pin tire like that is is to give the vehicle grip on the harder dirt tracks. Great video my friend, Keep up the good work.

    lol yup, pups LOVE chasing RC cars. overall mechanically it looks fair enough, definitely needs a center slipper spur gear to help save from breaking/twisting drive line parts. the other possible is front+rear ball diffs, slip a dog bone out to adjust the tension, no little planetary gears to get broken. some older belt driven AWD's used them, they run fast+smooth+quiet without any bevel gears, drive cups+shafts etc. if they want to up their game that'd do it!
    I do like the older style buggy bodies better with the cab near+over the rear shock tower, the newer little scrunchy mid forward style cabs just look weird to me.
    front rims+tires could be a little wider and all 4 tires a little more aggressive for running carpet clay or dirt. carpet and clay do like sharp point mini pin spikes, but those don't last very long on dirt and clay.

    I just bought a 14 scale and notice the drivetrain is very tinny. The axles and dogbones need a coating because it's metal on metal.. Cheap zinc
    Also lot of play in the front wheels. Other then that it's a nice car. Motor gets hot pretty quick. Don't want to buy brushless for it because then it will cost $150 to $200 same as associated buggy

      Thanks Nick, comments like this are very helpful. I sometimes watch my videos back after editing and wonder if I’ve spoken to much.... or dragged it out to much. I try to balance them so there’s not to much dead space or repetitiveness. It’s does seem the current trend is to break stuff all the time.... I prefer to take stuff home without to much damage.... I don’t have time to repair stuff lol. Although if people want to break stuff then that’s there choice haha... I do enjoy watching some mindless destruction every now and then 😎

    As always, Great and Honest Review 👌
    The car, I mean all the chassis, drive train and build seem good as other models but there's this thing "I don't understand"; why do they keep building them with an 2 in 1 ESC/Receiver ?🤷‍♂️
    I'm not even talk about being "under dimensioned", reason for so many burn with the original batteries, and in this model it was already added a fan and heatsink, so they know the "combo" is not very "capable".
    But being at this point and "status", in great part due to you guys (RUclipsrs) that make this reviews, it should be time to improve theirs electronics.
    I'm not saying to build cars with brushless motors but having the opportunity to put in a better ESC without having to swap the radio that are in fact Very Good.
    On their crawlers models it would be quite alright... I mean, they weren't meant for speed but on this later platforms it's just not ok, and you can't even get the maximum of that 550 brushed motor.
    When you go to a track, you will see that the car sticks on it but it kinda of craves for more power; but again, to improve the ESC you're almost obliged to swap the radio.
    Don't get it why they don't give a step forward in order to be better and helping WlToys Fans/Community... more 10 euros for car and it would be a real brand statement and fans contentment 🤷‍♂️
    You "don't do torture tests" ? Phil, it will be always in mind the beating you gave to the 144001 on the Skate Park 👌👌👌 just amazing and quite needed to real access to the chassis futures😁
    Nice work mate; Just keep on Bringing It 😎

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  3 года назад +1

      Yes 100% agree on the 2 in 1 ESC.... they go to the trouble of giving you nice alloy, oil filled dampers... a good looking buggy, then slap you in the face with a 5 wire servo and 2in1! Oh yes, the 144001 beating, lol... I’m blaming Bearded RC for egging me on!

    • @luissimoes8106
      @luissimoes8106 3 года назад

      @@TomleyRC
      LoL, you know who to blame better then anyone 😆
      Still, I wouldn't mind to be blamed for it; I know that it can be very expensive with some cars but very pertinent for buyers; taking a chassis to that level of stress is the ultimate test of the materials and construction; we became with the entire knowledge of what it can happens and its weaknesses. For me it's fundamental information as an hobbyist / potential buyer 👌
      On the other hand, there are guys that just Love to see that kind of abuse 🙂😉

    LC racing is about 500 dollars more than the cheap WLTOYS. There a blast till they break. Got four runs out of my 12 scale WLTOYS the purple one. Was fast yest but screws were stripping bolts snapping and the car exploded on a turn literally the back end just came apart.

    As always wltoys quality seems very good for the money, and I love the looks 👍 but this thing is so slow??? And that’s what is putting me off !!! I would swallow on paying more for a half decent brushless setup ! We need speed! Greasy fast speed I tell yah !!! Seriously don’t wltoys watch what we do with the buggies they make? Why why didn’t they get the hint???

    Besides the slightly bigger scale, would this roller be any better to go brushless on than the 124019? I have a castle 4600kv and Sw4 to toss in one of em but I actually cant decide which for some reason.

    • @DimiS1978
      @DimiS1978 3 года назад

      I wouldn't get this for racing. No center slipper or diff. No toe & squat adjustments... poor "alloy" materials. This is a huge fail for being a racing buggy. Possibly for bashing too with a brushless system. Stuff is going to break without a slipper.

    • @semperatis
      @semperatis 3 года назад

      I've raced quite a few buggies in the past that didn't have slippers,you just need to make sure that you're not on the throttle when landing jumps.
