What an Excellent "roto-tillering" Job. I see that you perfected the procedures by using "First-dirt-Gear". Most "Home-lowners " go WAY TO FAST. l have a 5 footer & use a 35 year old 21 hp Massey-Ferguson 1020 2wd ,3 range "Hydro-slack-o-matic"; that does a Marvelous Job. The unit weighs 675lbs ,with NO PROBLEM lifting it;;; although the front wheels have just 55lbs of force to the ground,--- so l just slap 250lbs out front & "No-Prob-bla-mo".Thank you Sir for the Excelent vidio and happy safe tractoring. I subsoil my garden before tilling, I have the same tiller on a15.5 P T O 4wheel drive tractor, have clay ground, added a lot of gypsum to help break down the clay and it has been 50 years since I bought this property and now my garden soil is in great shape.
Subsoiler is definitely on my "one of these days" list. At my old house, before moving back to the family homestead, I mixed a few inches of fresh bark mulch from the local sawmill into my soil every year. 15 years later, the people who live there now still say it's the best soil they've ever planted in. I don't have the same local sawmill resources here or I would definitely be doing the same. Thank you for your interest and support!
Great work! I Have a 1980 B7100 HST 4x4 with loader. We are looking to run a 4’ tiller on it for a small garden. Your tractor did a great job. Love our small handy tractor
For small acreage homesteads, the B7100 can't be beat! If I were to turn back time and do it all over, I would probably buy a 42" tiller, but as you can see, the machine handles the 48" ok in our soil. Thank you for your support and interest! Great info. For the weed problem the I have I plan on burning the top of the ground before I till by using a flame torch fueled by propane. I've heard that it is good to burn the soil to kill any weeds and weed seeds. Maybe I'll barbecue a few ants while I'm at it. Thanks for sharing the videos.
Burning is good to do in the fall, it does kill any recently deployed seeds, and adds vital nutrients back into the ground. I often let plots grow and dry out then burn them before working them up for a garden. It really won't effect roots and underground seeds though, and can stimulate growth in some species, so be prepared for the continuous battle. Thank you for your support and interest.

Now that I am finishing up with the rebuild I had been looking for people using my same tractor to show capability there are not many. That is how I found you
Those are off road LED lights I picked up at Tractor Supply, mounted to round magnets I bought cheap at Harbor Freight. Thank you for the interest and kind words.
Tillers are over used. The less you disturb the soil the better. Instead apply lots of compost and mulch. You will see a wast improvement in soil health and plant production. If push comes to shove and you absolutely need some tilling ,don't use it as a coffee grinder but, go fast and light.
I wish we had sandier soil, but we're sitting on pure clay. It's fine and loose here because we had a terribly dry summer and I worked this plot several times. You're right, I wouldn't need full throttle to mix what I had done, but my intention was to cut as deep into the clay as my rig was willing to go. After 8 passes on the measured spot, and the tiller just skating on the clay, I gave up. After this, I'm starting to wonder if even 2 passes with the tiller in my ground is effective enough to justify burning the fuel. Thank you for watching. Appreciate your input.

Depending on the soil type, I agree.
I made videos both for maximum depth and minimum to fit all needs.
Its not necessary to redline that engine in that light sandy soil. Go slow and let the tiller just turn and till.
