Lars!!! Thank you brother!!!! love it!!! and i learned a few things!!! as always
Thank you!
Your explanations are always so crystal clear! Thank you 🙏
Thank you very much on this videos!!! You explain everything so good it's really easy to learn from you!
This is an incredibly useful video for beginners, it sums up a lot of commands and strategies that are useful for a particular type of design. Thanks Lars!
Awesome. I am new to Fusion 360 and I am going to practice this. Thank you very very much for sharing.
Nice! Thank you for the great tutorial, perfect next step after the total beginner series.
thank for your effort to articulate on each word,
As an english learner it's very appreciable^^
Friend I cannot thank you enough, I have been wanting to do this kind of development for as long as 3d drafting exists. Thx a 1000000000000000000 times.
Thank you Lars! You rock sir, I’ve been learning plenty from you. What you do is sincerely appreciated. Wishing you my best, Javier
You are so very welcome 👍😊thank you for watching
Great Tutorial, I'm teaching myself Fusion and I learned a ton in this video. Thank you from a Maryland blacksmith!
I find myself watching this as a quick refresher quite a few times
Another great video! Keep up the good work.
Awesome videos Lars! Very helpful for a beginner like myself!!
Thanks Lars. Its an wonderful lesson!
Very informative as well as entertaining.
Thank you Lars!! This is helping me so much!!!
so easy and helpful
Thank you!
Fan of Jimmy for years now! Great combination.
Thanks for taking the time to share
Thumbs up!
Thank you so much Guillermo Contreras !
you are a great teacher, best fusion 360 tutorial in youtube,
Thank you 👍😊
Great tutorial. Loved it. I like the way you break it down and explain each step.
Thank you so much Thomas Willis !
Thanks a lot for this tutorial - it was extremely helpful for a complete Fusion 360 beginner!
That is awesome to hear Phil Levchenko .Thank you for watching the videos
Great Video Lars,
Took me all afternoon to get it right as just little subtle things you were doing I missed so had to start over to pick them up. I noticed a few things on a Mac come up in different places/orders, like some of the text boxes.
Would definitely like to do another one of these but starting with the 'parameters' set up.
Thanks Lars, you helped me out with a few issues with box section in this video!
That is awesome to hear Ian Graham .Thank you for watching the videos
Awesome video !!!
Very useful video!
Cool video. Thanks Lars
Thanks for the video, Lars! This helped out with designing my industrial inspired bookshelf. The "Paste New" option is exactly what I needed to "de-couple" the separate angle iron pieces and size them independently.
That is awesome to hear Terrell Bradshaw .Thank you for watching the videos
Hi, Lars .
If you find the time you should do way more of these modeling tutorials.
I learned more from these 2 (table and inj.mold )than all other tuts together.
Especially the workflow with the copy and move command and point to point.
Way faster then when I would do or did (make 1 tube of a certen length save it as a comp, then extrude or cut one for a other length save it as comp,
and then drag them in as many as I need (if I need 4 tubes from a specific length I would draw 4 times that piece in) and do all joints. 4 times slower the your method. Thanks man.
Same with the inj. mold ,love how you did that with the 4 sketchplanes and extruded instead of sketch each part separate on top of the other.
Nice.
Thank you! There are more of these planned....Just need to find time :-)
This is just the tutorial I was looking for, thanks great video.
Thank you so much Jeff Hulett !
Fantastic light bulb moment from me!! You are the man.
Awesome to hear. Thank you for watching!
Awesome! Incredibly helpful video
That is awesome to hear Yf Lean .Thank you for watching the videos
This guy rules.
Thanks a lot that was fun
Loved it
so good... thanks
I love all of your videos, super informative and helpful. I was curious if you could please please make a video on making C Channel in Fusion 360?
Would be amazing if you make a tutorial making weldments at 45° and tube weldments. Many of us are used to SW weldment module and are moving to Fusion 360
gracias muy bueno
Awesome ! 🥰😍
Great tutorials, The structural weldment feature in solidworks is still a lot easier for making something like this, but good to see it's still possible to get it done in fusion.
Hi MtD-CNC Thank you for watching!
I would think you will see the Fusion 360 of SolidWorks weldments sooner than later.
Best,
Lars
hi Lars, thanks for this and all your other videos. I have gained a great deal of Fusion knowledge from your youtube channel. Loved your video about the Diresta workbench, and how to extract a parts list. One problem is when i followed along and tried to set up the workbench in Fusion i discovered it is not parametric. Please can you make a video on how to make a workbench where you can pull a parts list out, but where you can also change the height, width and length without the bench coming apart. It would be really useful once the drawing of the workbench is done if i could dial in various sizes so i can see which tables i can fit where! Just saying... Gracias
muy bueno gracias
As a new user to fusion, your videos are great. For designs like this however I'll revert to my native solidworks, the weldments feature seems much more efficient. Sketch the frame, assign the stock, define the corner finish, done.
I don’t blame you 😊 One day we will have a weldment feature, I hope
Great vid as usual. I actually had the chance to meet and work with Jimmy at the Saundersworks CNC classes. John's class got me past the learning curve with Fusion 360 and my Tormach. Great guy. Didn't know he was famous when I was hanging with him and now I'm honored to have had the chance to meet this trulel down to earth guy. BTW, since the classes, I am so busy running parts. Mainly for Energizer right now with some small nylon parts and I'm almost able to get a second Tormach in less than 7 months of owning my first!
Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and comment. Congratulations on the next machine, that is awesome!!
Thank you bro!! happy to hear your moving along !! respect!
Instead of moving the bars 8 ft and 4 ft when copying, I think he should subtract the width of the bars so that he ends up with an 8’ x 4’ surface, edge to edge. That’ll make it much easier to find a standard sized sheet of plywood. With that being said, I really love his videos. He makes fusion 360 so approachable.
Excellent ! My wife has her TV series......I have Lars Cristensen' s LiveStream videos on RUclips.... :) Great job ! Keep them coming for us !
That is awesome! :-) Thank you for watching!
Best,
Lars
Just started with fusion 360 for hobby use. We use autocad lite at work occasionally but I would like to maybe start using 3D cad. This looks like a relatively low cost solution for small businesses use. Thanks for sharing regards Chris
Hi AllTheGearNoIdea Thank you for watching!
OMG, I couldn't get copying and pasting figured out until you showed how (Copy from the component, Select the top level then Paste New) I had that laugh you get when somethings been staring you right in the face for a while... too funny. Thanks Lars !!!
That is awesome to hear tgirard123 .Thank you for watching the videos :-)
Have an awesome day!
Best,
Lars
Just thanks!
Just You are Welcome :-)
Hey Lars... Could you please do a tutorial on how to make a woodworkers workbench. Could be French Roubo (or German Holtzaoffel or English Nicholson) ty
I am a beginner woodworker & am also learning Fusion 360 in order to design & plan my projects before I actually start making them. This is really helpful.
Thank you for the great tutorials on Fusion 360.
Thank You!! Maybe some direction on mitered corners some time. Thank you again helps a lot!
Thank you for watching! Check out this video:

Best,
Lars
very good!
Thank you mase-tech
Another great tutorial! Agree with Jacksat comment for more of this kind of modeling tutorials.
Thank you so much SnuttsChannel !
Hi Lars, cheers for the video, awesome to draw this up. Would it be possible for you to do another video in the future, again with square tubing but showing how to do mitre joins, angle cuts etc? Keep up the vids, very helpful
Hi Ben Orchard Thank you for watching!
I did do something like mitre joints in this video:
ruclips.net/video/34ZeXHxYS28/видео.html
Hope this is helpful
Thank you for your videos Lars! You are the best! Is it possible in f360 to make this model fully parametric? For example to change its width, height, length and say tube dimensions keeping all of the necessary joints?
正在学习非常好
Can you do a video on how to make complex surfaces and curves and how to use t splines
I did the same design yesterday, a steel table in Fusion 360, the only difference is that it took me slightly more than 10 minutes, hours to finish with it :D As I do not know any of the tricksn featuresn shortcuts etc :D
Hi Lars, tanks four sharing your expertise with us, aim very thankful for that! Just one question, is it possible to get the actual build drawing out of it incl. Measures, and count of screws (when they were in :-). Just drawing something is not enough for me... thanks in advance grtz. Geert
The outside fillet is 2x the wall thickness.
Hello, A very nice tutorial.....does fusion 360 have a library of structural steel shapes to download, instead of creating them like you did? Thanks
Hey Lars, all very helpful, thank you. Joints and the way they function are becoming more familiar, but coming from Solidworks I am struggling to work out how to edit a joint once made. This would be because components once placed, can require to be re-positioned occasionally. Can you do a small feature on this subject? Sure that other users would find this really useful knowledge too. Keep up the great work.
Have you ever watched this video? ruclips.net/video/KQNgIfjMr84/видео.html
Kinda miss the weldment features of Solidworks. Great video Lars thanks!
Yes, Sure it is on developments list "To-Do" :-)
Suppose we want to change the filet radius on all the steel tubing. Is there a way to set it up so that even the shorter pieces where you broke them away from the longer ones would get the updated filets?
Well, The rookie figured out the collinear issue I was having. It won't work if you don't have the plain on the top of the table you are trying to work on for your next sketch. once I figure out what I was doing wrong all 4 sides were working to draw into place. In fact the end of the table plain is also not right but doesn't affect what i'm doing so far on this project. I know how to correct it now either way. So hope this helps anyone else struggling with this to move on.
Hi Lars, doing well on this till I started bringing in the top using the Collinar feature. I can get 3 sides in but get an error that states to correct dimensions. Not sure how to find or correct it? Got a video that shows editing on this issue?
thumbs up! :)
Thank you so much iuries !
Surely adding the fillets into the sketch is "lighter" than adding to extra features afterwards, them being the fillets? This makes a big difference when you have 4000 pieces of steel so hence my question. To me this is important as Fusion does sadly not have a frame generator (yet - will keep hoping)
Lars: I love the video's been working my way through them, I've watched this one several times (a way newbee) and was designing a welding cart I just dimension down the scale to what I wanted. One question I have is I am making the table into an angle so the welder will be elevated up in the front. Is there a video you have that can point me into that direction? I'm trying to show an angle at the end of each tube for the side support so it butts up smooth against the legs. Again thanks for all the video's and looking forward for one of your face-time live events.
Thank you for watching 😊👍 pretty sure I did something like that in this video ruclips.net/video/34ZeXHxYS28/видео.html
Hi Great videos, need some help though. When copying a component and then moving the result, how do I decided where the datum starts and the reposition ends? e.g. if I want a specific space between 2 cross members, simply typing "500mm" moves it 500 mmm but from where to where? and how would I control "500 mm gap between internal facing faces and not from both left sides of a box section. this way I keep getting 500 minus the dimension of my box section.
sir if we want to join two curv which function should i use ? actually i want to make closed loop by curve for extrude function.
actually sheet metal feature is also really good for this
Hey fellows, dear Lars, one little question: Once I'm in the rectengular pattern-tool, I can only move the components in certain steps (like each 100mm), not the precice way you did (for finding out the right distance). Is there some difference in the preferences or whats the matter here?
Greets and thanks!!
Im trying to experiment with this program but it just seems so overwhelming. Goal is to try to use it to design a flat bed for my pick up but i cant seem to grasp it. Is there anybooks i could purchase to help me. Or whats a good way to jump into this?
I'm assuming the table is welded on every joint. How do you make it appear welded?
when i resized at 6:20 it moved my bar and had to set point to point again. sometimes i follow the tutorial but its sometimes different. like when i extrude it stays in 2d and i have to move the camera angle manually
Hello and thank you for this video! I designed a table using this video, but now that it is finished, I decided I want to make the sides smaller than what I stated with. I have tried several methods, but every time I go to modify the length of the sides, it throws the whole design out of “whack” and I am unable to recover easily. I am assuming all the copied components, the rigid groups, and joints are what is causing everything to move around and go haywire, so is there a simple way to change the lengths of the sides without having to start over? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
Thanks Lars for the great tutorials. im very new to Fusion 360 and im wondering how do you zoom in and navigate in 3D without shifting to orbit mode ?
Hi alain kazan Thank you for watching!
I cheat. I use a device from 3DConnexion.com You don't need one, but if you are doing CAD for many hours a day, they are nice
how are you able to get the constraints by your sketch pellet
Really like your videos man! a personal question here, are you from australia??
Thank you so much Moré Hace !
No, Denmark :-)
Have recently downloaded Fusion 360, have gone through your beginners guide, aswell as some tutorials from other channels, really enjoyed your teaching style . Though I follow step by step some of the instructions just dont work as explained, and I get unwanted and unexpected results. I have been following the How to model, re the DiResta steel shop table. Begining to wonder ir there's a glitch in the software.
I'm having the same results, I think it's because his fusion 360 is for commercial use, just my guess
Мне сильно повезло ,что сразу наткнулся на Ваши уроки.
Спасибо за просмотр!
at about 6:15 when I create the new object and make it 45 inches long, it completely jumps to Square Tube 2. Somehow it loses the connection it had with Tube 1. Thoughts?
Thanks for the video! Just started using Fusion 360 and boy it's confusing! Can you do a video on taking a picture into fusion 360 and making it into a piece to be cut out in the plasma section! Thanks Dale.
I'll put it on the list :-)
Hi Lars
How about showing us how to model a Helical cutter head as used in thickness plainers?
Nice work
Thanks
I don't know much about helical cutter heads. If you can email me some dimensions... lars.christensen@autodesk.com
What is the difference between join and rigid command
Nice video Lars, can you make also one with round tube frame and "legs" standing with some degree? Perhaps top square 100 x100cm and bottom square 125x125cm?
Hi Robin, I would use the same technique, then make the legs cross each other and use the Combine tool to cut the pieces to fit
It's deja vu all over again!! Didn't you do this video a couple weeks ago??? Chris
John Saunders did his ice pick. Maybe thats what your thinking of?
Anthony Sozio It was a video on the Diresta table that came out shortly after the Diresta table video was published. I just checked and Lars previous video was on the parts list for this table. Chris
So using this method or another, is there a way to say... summarize the “material” used to have a quick data point on exactly how much is used? This would be a neat feature to be able to know what length of tubing to order from your steel supplier
I think 3D designing the whole thing takes longer than manually calculating it on a piece of paper?
Hi Lars I could not get EDIT FEATURE in my new version to change lengthen. I see Ben's request and watched that video to do miters and will try that.Keep up the good work
Thank you Bill Moseley
Hmm...You should be able to edit features though
Yes Lars i found edit features . Thank you
Awesome video Lars! How did you know what dimensions to input for the outside/inside radius on the square tubing? Is there a standard for that particular sized tubing or quick way to figure it out?
Jamie Hardwick is like to know that too
Maybe a bit late but there are standards like ISO and ASTM.
You can also find them in machinery handbooks
Thank you Very much this was really helpful. There's a Diresta's Steel&Wood Bench. Are you planning on model this sometime ? It would be nice. Thanks Again.
Thank you so much Carlos Acero !
I will have to find that video
Every time i watch this video i learn a lot. But i wonder if you can tell us what about when the corners has been cut at 45 degrees.. i guess i have to create the square tube with the corners in 45º and the rest is the same process.. is that right? or we can make something to simulate this kind of cut and joint.
excellent tutorial. what happens if you lengthen the width of the table. Will the position of the legs e.g. pattern command dimensions change too or will I have to manually pattern the leg positions?
Hi Jaime Valdez Thank you for taking the time to watch the videos!
In this case, the legs would not move if you change the length of the table. You could do things with a parameter and then get that result.
Hello Lars, thanks a lot for another very instructive video. I'm still new to Fusion and I do learn a new thing in every single video of you. But I have one question, I cannot find an answer for, neither in your videos like this, or the 80/20 aluminium profile nor the tube chassis video. If I e.g. import an aluminium rail part from Mc Master-Carr or another parts library it already is extruded into 3D space. Is it somehow possible to scale that one to a specific length by entering its dimensions? So maybe the one from McMaster-Carr is 1 inch but I need 2.25 inch. Is it possible to enter this 2.25 inch or do I have to add 1.25 inch? I just want to enter the final "length" of a rail, but I cannot find a way to do. Scaling is using a factor and extruding is using a distance. But none is using dimensions. At least I cannot find, how. If you explain that way in one of your videos, just post the link, that would help a lot! Many thanks in advance!
One way I've found is to extrude the profile into a new body or Component and remove (not delete!) the original.
Paste New not available for selection. Could you please help? Love your videos much appreciated
Thank you Colin CrownCould you test it again? It works on my end
Hi Lars. I am wandering how great you're moving camera arond model - how did you do that? By keyboard? Can you share your experience?
I cheat :-) I use a device from 3DConnexion.com It is not needed, but it makes life easier
hi lars how do you move your camera so freely? im using the cube on the top right and just cant access some angles that easy
thanks
I cheat 😊 ruclips.net/video/LMYEnmEdptc/видео.html
My table look different than yours... am I on parallel projection? Can't seem to get into perspective mode.
EDIT: NVM found it :) thanks for the vid
As a long time Inventor user at work as an M.E., I really miss frame generator and sheet metal tools in fusion 360. Big fan of Fusion 360 and use it all the time in my personal projects, just wish it did frame generator and sheet metal.
Sheet metal will be ready in a few weeks
I’ve watched several videos for fusion 360 trying to find how we model in welds. Do we only notate welds in the drawings instead? I’m still new to Fusion so I apologize if this is a noob question. I’m not an engineer by trade, I’m a welder, so I’m trying to figure this out as I’m working on my own projects. TIA
If you find out plz let me know, looking for the same answer.
I came to this video with the same question. I'm the opposite, I'm an engineer, not a welder, but I want to make sure the drawing has the right info for the welder. They way I'm going to do it is the same as Lars in this video (model the "welds" with a rigid joint), and I will add the welding symbols in the 2D drawing. Disclaimer: I don't have any clue what I'm doing with F360, don't listen to me.
