That's what i love about Canny frames like this one and the caad12. They have modern tech with a slightly old school look. I love the og road bike frames from years back. I Can't stand aero road bike frames with full broomstick handles sticking out of the seat tube.lol
Awesome video guys. Not your standard pro bike, but the kind of one we’ve all been wanting to see. We all geek out on each other’s mods, seeing who rides what and their little “tricks”.
I just bought a Cannondale SuperSix Evo High Mode from a friend in like new condition in black and white, now, I've been riding road bikes for more than 30 years, this SuperSix is the lightest bike I've ever ridden, and I did ride so many! I forgot to mention it came with Sram Red mechanical!
I have the same frame and crankset and I love it. My bike weighs about 6.9 kg. Otherwise it’s really similar! So, I watched this video closely to find the differences. Right now the biggest difference is group set. I’m still running a mechanical setup. And then there’s wheels (I have Zipp 303s). That’s a difference of about a kg for those two items. The rest are small things, but they add up to the other 0.5 kg. Point is, this frame is really light as it is and it doesn’t take anything that special to make this nice bike pretty light!
Isn't that Barmouth bridge? Nowhere near South Wales, Oli! 😉 I'll forgive you though for a decent attempt at pronouncing Ffordd Pen Llech in the hill climb video 😁
I found Dan's comments very interesting. The bike? After seeing so many bike check videos it's definitely a well thought out bike but it's what we all do and enjoy doing on them that's important to me.
When he last won the national hill climb champs he was using Spada Spillo wheels that come in sub 900g but have an aluminium free hub so not renowned for their longevity. Hunt is a relatively new sponsor. Just putting some additional context to Ollie’s comment that ’they haven’t slowed him down in the past. This bike with the Spada wheels was on display in the Assos store in London and yes, I drooled all over it.
Barmouth Bridge if i'm not mistaken..........awesome cafe right there called "The Davey Jones Locker" Once visited, never forgotten..............Ace vid lads
psychological speed is greater than any of the marginal gains he is actually getting. if taking ur bar tape off makes u think ur lighter, than ur gonna be more motivated
Interesting here for display purposes that the chain is on the large chainring but not on the smallest cluster cog. So not biggie small after all guys?
I’m guessing most of SRAMs 12 speed innovations were to get around patents and licenses from campagnolo and Shimano. Their gearing choices don’t seem to make a lot of sense, but it does create a lot of hype.
What about some thm clavicula brakes? Sram red mechanical is a bit lighter(and a lot cheaper), absolute black chainrings, speedplay nanogram pedals, rotor cassette, lighter qr axles/skewers, thinner cork bar tape
Lovely bike, but Dan is on a different Cannondale in the cutaways as he goes up the very steep hill ... that one’s a disc brake bike and it has dropped seatstays. So, why?
Yo gcn. I thought you need bolts especially in the bottle cage area as water can enter and corrode your bb. (And think of the grams of water inside this guy's frame!).
Does someone racing on a bike such as this in super short hill climbs go into the event somewhat dehydrated? I’d think you’d want to start the race about 4% lower than “hydrated” weight ... that alone would be a huge weight savings and not affect performance for a short effort.
@@danevanscycling How dehydrated were you? I'm thinking just a little bit "lower" than fully hydrated - I believe the science indicates most people do not see a negative impact of slight dehydration and clearly that weight savings could be helpful for a short race.
I obviously pushed it a bit too far. By the time you dehydrate, take some caffeine tabs then stamp up a hill it kinda messes you up. Worst migraine ever...@@trbeyond
I have this same bike frame. That is the standard Cannondale carbon seat post. The post diameter is smaller than usual, 25.4mm I think, which made it virtually impossible to find another seat post as good and as light as that one but without the layback. There really wasn’t any other option I could find. My seat is also forward like this too as a result.
Great bike, but surprised it is 5.5kg. He must have saved 0.5kg on the wheels / tyres, and 100g on the saddle but where is the rest over standard? or is the standard bike that light?
Cannondale website lists the size 56 Hi-Mod Di2 at 6.7kg. Dan's bike looks like a size 52. Going from Di2 to eTap saves around 150g. He loses a bit more with the Spidering vs the stock FSA rings, and with the carbon stem rather than the stock alloy Cannondale C1. With the savings you estimate for the wheelset and saddle, 5.5kg seems about right.
Guys, I have question about wheels. Can somebody please explain next example: we have 2 identical bikes with different wheelsets. Alloy and Carbon. They are exactly the same weight (we are not interested in aerodynamics, rim height, etc.), but the question is: how is the power of the cyclist transferring to wheels on aluminum or carbon wheels? Why is carbon faster than aluminum? And again: we have a pair of wheels of the same weight, we are not interested in aerodynamics and driving on the flat. Thanks for opinion.
Nice or supernice?
Splendid.
supernice!
Superbly nice..is he donating the bike? I thought I ve heard it..I think. Well, size 44 would be great. Tq.
😀😀😀

Super sweet!
supeeerr bieb
Well presented by Dan Evans here, natural screen presence. Would be a good addition to the team
The bike is 5.5Kg and you still block the way on a bridge...00:00
I’m a sucker for a Cannondale. Fantastic looking bikes
Wow what a bling cannondale frame...The best i ever seen i think!!! Awesome bike and awesome video!!
it looks cheap
@@fahrradra6856 nah better than matt black all the time
Ollie is a great presenter! Perfect made interview!
Love the look of the Cannondale crankset
Dali S Same here!
Seriously cool!
There's something beautiful about cannondale's frame, simple, straight - beauty!

Same they’ve gone away from this on their new models
2 years later and this bike is still hot to trot.
Very tasteful fluo touches on that bike !
Awesome video guys. Not your standard pro bike, but the kind of one we’ve all been wanting to see. We all geek out on each other’s mods, seeing who rides what and their little “tricks”.
8:54 "And to see Dan riding his SystemSix..." -> Dan's reaction was priceless
he did ride his system six in the other video, not his super six. Watch it!
One of the most interesting GCN videos ever. Super nice bike.
That intro clip make me chuckle. Great video Ollie
What an incredible paint job and build, absolutely love this bike

Here in the States, we can't tell one location from another. Just like we can't tell one castle from another. They all look the same :)
Just what I was thinking, I recognised it as Barmouth bridge from the thumbnail.
Gorgeous understated classic looking bike. So much better than Annondale's frankenstein monster a.k.a "the systemsix".
Wesley Wuyts Indeed it is!
That bike is fugly and I'm a cannondale fanboy
Mitchell Steindler Same here! Been a fanboy for years! Love how Cannondale keeps the classic bikes alive and still looking nice!
Cannondale perfection.
While i myself am a tech nerd i appreciate that Dan just does what makes him comfortable and doesnt make excuses
I found Dan's comments very interesting. The bike? After seeing so many bike check videos it's definitely a well thought out bike but it's what we all do and enjoy doing on them that's important to me.
Could you do a video on importance of weight in different areas? Such as losing 200g on the wheels and tires vs the components
Wheels and tires would make the biggest difference due to rotating weight.
Semplicemente il più bel telaio di sempre
Dan Evans finally putting the "peak up" debate to rest.

That is a beautiful bike. I love Cannondales.
Really nice bike. Like the fact its also super functional given how light it is. No need for a compact when you're putting out Dan's W/kg!
Holy shit this bike is so beautiful
Amazing bike! 😍
OMG that bike is beautiful.
Inspiration for my Evo for sure. Cool video; Dan is the man.
Beautiful bike and one hell of welsh climber is our Dan Evans!!.
🏴👌
Thanks Jeff.
Best roadbike ever. Nothing is better in 2024 ! But everything is more expensive.
53/39 with 11/28 and I'm struggling with a 50/34 and 11/30. He's a God.
53/39 with a 11/32 Shimano 5800 on a Merida scultura 4000 ,I struggle from time to time. 11/28 is indeed unbelievable.
The amazing thing, GCN, is that he didn't even use that light bike for the KoM - the one featured was black with disc brakes!
I can't stop watching first 8 seconds of this video)))
It was quite funny!
I can see it)))@@gcntech
OLLIE: 'Hes gonna be in shot for a while' 😁😁😂
Such a beautiful picture and colors ❤️
That's a shiny clean bike. Mine weights 1 kg more but its all grit and dust. Never seen my bike so clean from the day I bought it.
You should wash it.
I don't know if you can still get them but I've seen wheelsets that were only 704 grams for the pair, but were like $15,000 for them.
Man that bike is awesome!
psychological speed is greater than any of the marginal gains he is actually getting. if taking ur bar tape off makes u think ur lighter, than ur gonna be more motivated
I think I’ve got a problem I’ve been waking up at 0400 local time just to watch GCN😐
It's worth it
Sebastian Coolidge I have a hard time getting up at 4 to ride my bike never mind watching videos about riding my bike 😂😂🤷🏼♂️
Winter time, and delivering items by bike for a living I generally don’t ride while not getting paid in this weather
It’s my only form of Transportation so I go everywhere my bike
Perfect machine
I like how it still looks like a normal bike with fairly stock components.
What.
a.
beauty!
😍
Would be great to see features on training, kit choices, etc with Dan and other riders, male and female.
Absolutely!
Sounds like a plan@@gcntech
That's barmouth bridge in North Wales. Dan claims most of the KOMs in this area too, common man can't compete!
Interesting here for display purposes that the chain is on the large chainring but not on the smallest cluster cog. So not biggie small after all guys?
53/39! Holy shit socks !! I use 52/34 for wider range with Hawaii double digit climbs. I’m ready to switch to 52/36 with 30 T cassette
That's a light bike on a light bridge with a fairly light man reviewing it. To be honest I am feeling light too
That menacing laugh 00:06
Great looking bike.
Its funny listening to this video today having seen "Oli rides the Taiwan KoM " video yesterday
his explanation of the gearing ontradicts everything that sram said about the new gearing for the etap 12sp
JogBird because SRAM is stupid
I’m guessing most of SRAMs 12 speed innovations were to get around patents and licenses from campagnolo and Shimano. Their gearing choices don’t seem to make a lot of sense, but it does create a lot of hype.
Question: is it the bike's weight that matters or bike's+rider's weight?
Really nice setup! Did I miss, what is Dan's saddle height (to c BB)?
Looks better than EF's version of their Super6 Evo
Agreed! I got a solid blue one and think it looks much better than the pro color schemes.
this guy knows what he is doing, who cuts the drops?
Lovely bike! Cheers!
Very clean👊
Nice bike!
Uci: *insert wait thats illegal halo meme here
What about some thm clavicula brakes? Sram red mechanical is a bit lighter(and a lot cheaper), absolute black chainrings, speedplay nanogram pedals, rotor cassette, lighter qr axles/skewers, thinner cork bar tape
Plenty to make it lighter but this is usable and good value for money. (kind of!) :-)
Superbe 😍😍quand je pense que certain achete des vélos trois fois plus cher à disque à plus de 8kg
So will Dan switch to the new SRAM eTap AXS Eagle with a wide range cassette instead of a double?
That's awesome!
Wow 😮 what a bike . Get Dan to do a training film
That's a cracking idea!
Tubular wheels with Latex inner tubes ??
Much nicer than the System six in the previous video
Yepp that`s light. I have the hi mod Evo 2017 weighing in at 6.3kg. Alu rims... 😬
Mine is sub 6. SRAM Red and Bontrager XXX RACE LITE tubular wheels. I could get it to 5.8kg with lighter tyres.
Got to love the supersix hi mod!!
Very good 😊
Wow, Bridgewood on a wooden bridge.
Tufo Calibra Lite tyres 150 grams each. Garmin Edge 25. Pedals Time Xpro 15.
Great Vid, Think i need some Hunt Wheels for my Supersix Evo ;-)
Lovely bike, but Dan is on a different Cannondale in the cutaways as he goes up the very steep hill ... that one’s a disc brake bike and it has dropped seatstays. So, why?
Andrew Demack I’m going to go out on a limb and say he’s got more than one bike.
No doubt. But why do a whole video on this one and imply that the cutaways show Dan riding his hill climb special, when it’s not.
Yeah it's a System Six. The Evo is his race bike, not his training bike
They promote that bike at the end but it seems they still haven't published it
Great video, lovely bike. What seat post is on the bike?
It's the standard Cannondale SAVE carbon post, just chopped down a bit. :-)
Just not light its probably the best handling bike in the world.
You can never be a true winner if your bike doesn't have disc brakes. We all know they make your bike go faster, even uphill.
Yo gcn. I thought you need bolts especially in the bottle cage area as water can enter and corrode your bb. (And think of the grams of water inside this guy's frame!).
there's a 3 kg + bike in the Philippines , need to see it GCN
Fixed gear?
Is Dan wearing hi-viz orange Shakedry? I heard a rumour that Gore were working on such a thing - is it already in beta testing?
Nope, it's ASSOS.
Офегительный!!!👍👍👍
Same bike Phil (worst retirement ever) Gaimon was using to destroy all the Strava Hill Records in Amerika
Can anyone confirm which head set cover this bike has on it. The shot comes at 2mins 20 secs.........
Does someone racing on a bike such as this in super short hill climbs go into the event somewhat dehydrated? I’d think you’d want to start the race about 4% lower than “hydrated” weight ... that alone would be a huge weight savings and not affect performance for a short effort.

Sorry Ollie, he rode a system six up the steepest climb video. Not his super six Evo.
Very nice bike. Video👍🇦🇺
That laugh gets me every time
bling x performance.. Blingformance!!
Why have a setback seatpost with saddle positioned all the way forward? Why not go with a zero set back seatpost ?
I was wondering the same thing. He could use a zero set back and have it more centered on the rails.
Maybe ride comfort?

That makes sense. Thanks!!. Have you tried the chinese market on ebay
Une merveille comment aller acheter un velo a disque plus cher et a 8 kg quand on vois cela
I have that bike

Would love a chance to ride that bike, just to know what it feels like.
