Thats a beauty... I used to hate Cannondale's "standard geometry" look out of all the recent aero / modern looking bikes, but now they're really growing on me....
would love to own one. I used to hate the Evo S6 based on boring geometry and graphics, but having ridden one...I AM CONVERTED. Rides like a dream..and I now love the paint scheme, because it reminds me of the ride. ONE DAY, SHE WILL BE MINE. OH YES; ONE DAY, SHE WILL BE MINE.
#askGCNanything How about a video on the weigh in process that the UCI uses. Lots of stuff there that I bet many of us don't know. Bottle cages on or off? Garmin mounts etc. Just how do the bikes have to be presented for the weigh in?
I really like the Supersix. Also like the "hack" on the bottle cages. On my last races I lost a bottle with my energy drink in it, it would have been useful to have this hack on my bike!
Very interesting information regarding the jockey wheels, so the wheels themselves are bigger meaning fewer rotations ? I have SRAM-red 22 on my Evo Hi-mod, Enve classic 45 tubulars, 1120 grams not including their new carbon hubs, TRP brakes, Enve seat post, stem and bars, Speedplay TI pedals- 13.00 pounds with pedals and computer
I'm amazed the bike is 7.05 kg with 0.15 kg in the bottom bracket, bringing it to around 6.90 kg w/ SRM and cages. I'd expect lighter. White paint adds some to the frame, but I wonder if this frame has a bit more carbon than stock. It's well known pros back around 2010 would get frames with beefed up construction. I wonder if that is possibly the case here. Does the mass number add up?
Interesting question. I have a 2015 SuperSix EVO HiMod, kitted with a Super Record mechanical groupset, but with 175mm CompUltra cranks. Some Chinese parts, seatpost and bar are "Cinelli RAM", saddle 100 grams of carbon. Wheels are Lightweight Standard Gen III tubulars. My pair of scales puts it at 6,26 kilo, empty bottles on. It's a 58cm size... Rgr
What did the tire clearance look like at the chain stays? My 2015 Evo can't run a 25 in the rear because it'll rub the stays in corners and when out of the saddle.
Alloy rails are more comfortable than carbon? Some forums say it's the carbon rails which have vibration dampening properties. Anyone have any more info?
Surely the alloy rails are for a weight addition? Likewise, the alloy bars? If the bigger jockey wheel saves watts ( by reduction in flex angle of the chain), then why have an 11-up cassette? Why not start at, say, 16T with larger chainrings, for even less friction?
Totally agree. For some reason, on all the bikes I ride a particular gear inch combo feels much faster when I make it using the big ring than when I make it using the small ring.
That's just the standard equipment for those chainrings and the rings are only bolted together, you can take them apart and swap parts. Everything's mixed and matched to what the team wants.
I just have to question.. What are the dislikes on the video? Is it Si's presenting or just envious of the bike? That is a sweet bike and is the bottle cage mod a hack or bodge?
im 184cm, could I fit on a 56cm supersix with a longer front end? I mean Hesjedal was 188 and he somehow managed it! not sure whether to go for a long a low size 56 or a more Van Garderen style shorter more comfortable setup? I'm a 3rd cat junior wannabe pro
But Simon, the outer chainring says it's a 53/44t. Does the FSA plate lie? IÈm sure it dos because I'm struggling myself to find just the right chainring on Wiggle that the description size and the picture match up.
@gcn boys, I'd love to know what the exact chainrings are on this bike. my spidering isn't compatible with my srm and I'd like some reliable chainrings. cheers in advance for the response fellas!
This is a question to anyone. I'm still fairly new to the whole world of cycling and it's great fun. I want to join a club or go on group rides. My only problem is I don't want to be the worst, I know it sounds stupid but still. Should I just go and stop other thinking? Any tips?
If you're new to cycling,it's ok to be slower at the beginning.Good people, good riders, will accept you and help you grow better as cyclist, and if you work hard on your training you will improve you condition and you won't be the "worst" anymore. And plus, remember that we're not professionals,we go out together and we go back home all together, doesn't matter if someone is slower at some point. Don't worry,go out and have fun cycling. Greetings from Italy!
Join a local club, they will generally have several groups of riders from 'easy rolling' to the extreme guys. And they'll have a schedule of when which group is riding and how long they plan to ride, so start off in the easy group for a shorter ride and work your way up until you find a crew that you are at speed with!!
honestly it's great to ride with better riders than you because you're going to get better super fast. Just stay in the wheels at first so you don't bonk too quickly. For my first ride the guys just pushed me for half of the ride and a few months later I can now ride much longer and much faster and even take relays at the front of the pack (though not for as long as the better riders). You're also going to get a good grasp on your limits even though it's a moving target which is great when you're going to ride alone. You'll get dropped sometimes but that's no big deal if you can set your ego aside and work on not getting dropped at first. Good luck and have fun
Ask your local bike shop. If they're not friendly and helpful, pick another bike shop. That's the best way to find a local group that is welcoming to beginners.
Actually I think it's a good thing and it would even need to be raised further than this. Aerodynamics on the other hand could be improved if other restrictions were lifted like what they said in the Lapierre Aerostorm video
Yeah, I think the weight limit should stay. If you wanted to lower it that's 1 thing, but if you make it unlimited someone is going to ride something that's unsafe and injure themselves or someone else. I think it also keeps smaller guys who would always have the luxury of a smaller frame from gaining an equipment advantage. The geometry restrictions... that's some garbage and it's limiting bike design.
It's not solely about safety. Riders with lighter bikes would have an equipment advantage, particularly on climbs. Even 0.5 kilo is a significant advantage. The rescission of the weight limit would set off an arms race ultimately leading to unsafe, uberlight bikes
hm how does bike weigh so much? i know the da calipers are heavy but everything else is super light besides the saddle and bars. he cud prolly lose 200 grams on those. i have a 54 emonda that weight 14.5lbs with nothing that exotic or super light weight
Big riders = bigger frames with a slight weight penalty. Smaller riders = smaller lighter frames. The UCI needs to do away with the weight limit rule. Being forced to add weights to bottom brackets is silly. DO not penalize someone for being smaller and conversely allow larger riders to make up for weight where they safely can.
See your point but it would be even more silly to control riders weight or size and compare to bike weight. Riders also come in different morphologies. I would prefer if bikes components match some safety specifications tested by a UCI approved lab for all manufacturers. Once it is "legal", no matter the weight as for the dimensions, you can use it in race.
Well it's really about the ability to quickly inspect alloy Bars in the event of a crash, as well as meeting the minimum weight restriction. If you listen at the end you can hear they have a 150 gram weight in the bottom bracket. take that out and add on carbon bars and you're under the weight restriction.
A bike which is 60 gramms lighter (with his "climbing" wheels) will for sure NOT have any effect on your climbing abilities....aerodynamics will make the diffrents (from a speed of 10 mph). Some bars or rice cakes weigh 60 gramms....so yeah why is he choosing those wheels? :D
love the high mod, still one of the bests in 2020
One of the coolest bikes in the peloton.
Thats a beauty... I used to hate Cannondale's "standard geometry" look out of all the recent aero / modern looking bikes, but now they're really growing on me....
How could anyone possibly dislike this video????
They probably ride Treks & Specialized. LOL
Cuz they gape their cheeks to every possible big brand to sponsor them maybe? Just maybe….
would love to own one. I used to hate the Evo S6 based on boring geometry and graphics, but having ridden one...I AM CONVERTED. Rides like a dream..and I now love the paint scheme, because it reminds me of the ride. ONE DAY, SHE WILL BE MINE. OH YES; ONE DAY, SHE WILL BE MINE.
that bike is so light!! beautiful wheels too :)
I normally don't like cannondales but that paint job makes it really nice.
I love it when pros are just ridin' plain ol' bikes. Normal brakes and everything else really. Makes you want to get out there.
I love the Pro-Bike segment, great work guy's keep up the good work.. :-)
We will!
Hands down - sexiest wheelset in the peloton
the best bike in the peloton ;), go rigo!
RU was riding a 52cm S Works Tarmac for Omega & now a 50cm Super6 - I guess he can live with the saddle to bar drop!
#askGCNanything How about a video on the weigh in process that the UCI uses. Lots of stuff there that I bet many of us don't know. Bottle cages on or off? Garmin mounts etc. Just how do the bikes have to be presented for the weigh in?
Si...you said Rigo was using 53/38 chain rings, as was standardised across the team. However, the close-up of the chain rings showed 53/44t.??
Simply The Best ..... Classic Geometry !!!
Si reviewing the latest Cannondale kids bike. He looks like a giant
Was that an Ultegra cassette? In the close-up, I think it said CS-6800
I think they are the new cosmic ultimates for 2017, not the pro's. Look at the integrated carbon spokes!
i was thinking of that, your right man !
GNC what is your favorite pro bike
Every pro bike is Lasty's favorite, that's for certain
Are those wheels new/unreleased? The new Mavic Cosmic Pro Carbon SL C only comes in clincher
I really like the Supersix.
Also like the "hack" on the bottle cages. On my last races I lost a bottle with my energy drink in it, it would have been useful to have this hack on my bike!
pros can keep going without energy drinks.
And I kept going without it. Only water, like a boss ;)
Egidio De Caro cool. Thats part of training.
that is just an amazing frame! That traditional geometry makes it stand out... I WANT ONE
That's a beauty. Thanks for another great video.
The wheels are CCU's and they didn't change between the 2 weigh ins...??
Very interesting information regarding the jockey wheels, so the wheels themselves are bigger meaning fewer rotations ? I have SRAM-red 22 on my Evo Hi-mod, Enve classic 45 tubulars, 1120 grams not including their new carbon hubs, TRP brakes, Enve seat post, stem and bars, Speedplay TI pedals- 13.00 pounds with pedals and computer
simon doing a great video,u seems shock too for the weight
150g motor in bottom bracket ? :D
Anyone know the BGM at 0:30? That Rhodes was tasty!
Please do reviews on Cannondales.
What did the tire clearance look like at the chain stays? My 2015 Evo can't run a 25 in the rear because it'll rub the stays in corners and when out of the saddle.
Could someone tell me, what is the orange sensor on the left chainstay? Some sort of a Transponder?
25mm seatpost last seen on a Vitus 979? Sean Kelly KAS and Lucho Herrera from Cafe could have been featured:-)
25mm seatpost was also on the later Vitus 992 and the OCT models. Rgr
is that number plate a throw back to last year? 'GPS' and garmin? spooky...;)
Alloy rails are more comfortable than carbon? Some forums say it's the carbon rails which have vibration dampening properties. Anyone have any more info?
I don't have the hi-mod, but I love my Evo!
Surely the alloy rails are for a weight addition? Likewise, the alloy bars? If the bigger jockey wheel saves watts ( by reduction in flex angle of the chain), then why have an 11-up cassette? Why not start at, say, 16T with larger chainrings, for even less friction?
.
Totally agree. For some reason, on all the bikes I ride a particular gear inch combo feels much faster when I make it using the big ring than when I make it using the small ring.
....so then remove all that weight from inside the bottom bracket ;-) and if necessary use carbon bars and seat rail!
any chance you boys would know the exact chainrings rigo is using here? i'm looking to get some to fit on my srm!
Why are the spokes integrated? Seems like a pain
This has to be my favorite bike. beautiful. I love these videos. Another XC cyclist might end up moving into road as well...
Is there any science behind the oversized jockey wheels?
Why on his big ring does it say 53/44 if he's not running a 54 tooth?
That's just the standard equipment for those chainrings and the rings are only bolted together, you can take them apart and swap parts. Everything's mixed and matched to what the team wants.
How does one go about purchasing burner products?
I just have to question.. What are the dislikes on the video? Is it Si's presenting or just envious of the bike? That is a sweet bike and is the bottle cage mod a hack or bodge?
frame size 50? How tall is Simon? But the stem looks very long.
im 184cm, could I fit on a 56cm supersix with a longer front end? I mean Hesjedal was 188 and he somehow managed it! not sure whether to go for a long a low size 56 or a more Van Garderen style shorter more comfortable setup? I'm a 3rd cat junior wannabe pro
If only Rigo had not sold his 2012 Olympic RR win to Vino, he'd be riding a gold one, even smicker.
nice bike
But Simon, the outer chainring says it's a 53/44t. Does the FSA plate lie? IÈm sure it dos because I'm struggling myself to find just the right chainring on Wiggle that the description size and the picture match up.
You can swap the out and inner chainring, they aren't joined up. So yeah, it kind of is lying!
@gcn boys, I'd love to know what the exact chainrings are on this bike. my spidering isn't compatible with my srm and I'd like some reliable chainrings. cheers in advance for the response fellas!
I think somebody misunderstood 'sticky bidon'
Is that bottle cage a hack or a bodge?
what is the frame size of his bike?
would be nice to talk about frame size too in next videos. He rides a 51 I understand. Or 52?
He said size 50 in the vid :) (00:56)
okay sorry didn't listen to every word he said just the beginning
I don't know how you could have gotten this wrong, but those are Cosmic Ultimates.
why have a skinny frame and add weight when you can have a frame with more carbon (stiffer/more aero) and meet the limit that way?
most of us dont give a S@#$ about UCI weight limit, and are not racing. that sir is for us who wants the lightest..
Damn, you could ride that bike pretty much anywhere :o.
why is he using dura ace pedals? Instead of garmin vector pedals? @globalcyclingnetwork
He already has a power meter in his bottom bracket
4:30 why didn't they send a #gcnhack?
This is a question to anyone. I'm still fairly new to the whole world of cycling and it's great fun. I want to join a club or go on group rides. My only problem is I don't want to be the worst, I know it sounds stupid but still. Should I just go and stop other thinking? Any tips?
Look for a group that does "no drop" rides as a (hopefully) friendly starting point.
If you're new to cycling,it's ok to be slower at the beginning.Good people, good riders, will accept you and help you grow better as cyclist, and if you work hard on your training you will improve you condition and you won't be the "worst" anymore. UCI weight limit has to go. A lightweight bike is just as durable and safe. How is adding 150g to the bb increase the safety of the bike?
Actually I think it's a good thing and it would even need to be raised further than this. Aerodynamics on the other hand could be improved if other restrictions were lifted like what they said in the Lapierre Aerostorm video

I don't get why Mavic still makes a wheel with a 13mm internal width in 2017.
bbinfinite bottom bracket??
hm how does bike weigh so much? i know the da calipers are heavy but everything else is super light besides the saddle and bars. he cud prolly lose 200 grams on those. i have a 54 emonda that weight 14.5lbs with nothing that exotic or super light weight
Well, im happy with my tarmac sl4 sport since i didnt have to spend something like 4k for the lowest version :P
can i ask something how much did that bike cost plz replie
that's a ten thousand dollar bike dude.
+Hugo Figueroa thanks for replieing
rigoberto uran may not be the best rider in the peleton, but he certainly has the best bike in the peleton by a long shot(especially looks).
Big riders = bigger frames with a slight weight penalty. Smaller riders = smaller lighter frames. The UCI needs to do away with the weight limit rule. Simon....isn't the UCI weigh limit 6.8kg.....therefore he would have 200g of weight to lose?
Garmin head unit and bottom bracket weights add at least 400g
What size is the frame?
50
Mijo que buena bici.
Old Mavic CCU is more lightweight! yeah!
can you still buy these
the 2016/17 version new old stock
My Dream Bike..😲🚴♀️🚴♀️
It's funny to see a Garmin sponsored team with GPS written on the team trucks number plate
Cannondale know how to make good bikes
why did they put weight in the BB wtf?
They have to keep the bike above the UCI weight limit.
yea we know that mate but in both tests it was well above 150g
thanks for video!!!!!!
Back when bikes used to be sub 7kg. Bikes were on their top 5 years ago. Now they need to force us onto discbrake bike to make more profit.
Imagine how much weight he will add when he rides his bike!
a frame is not the heart of the bike. It is the skeleton
5'8" isnt short nor tall
I'm 5'8" too (and colombian, too) but apparently for europe/united states that's "short".
5'8" is short as fuck
@@ItsHarvinator average male height is 5ft9 on USA soooo
777g for the frame?... so less than 2 lbs??? DAFUCK?
With a system six instead of this given the results I think he would have won...that aero frame could have shaved the 54s
What a beautiful bike. Too bad Rigoberto hasn't won anything major this season on it.
Creakdale
Cannondales are so common here in the US. So common, the geometry gets boring.
weight😍
I am one who does not care for the color scheme . the silver color is a bit dull for me .
Yellow
i dont really like the paint on this bike. black and green would look nicer.
Horizontal TTs are faster.
you're wong
does it annoy anyone else calling the handlebar area the "cockpit"?
Wow - Non Dura Ace cranks and alloy parts...proves its not all about carbon!
Well it's really about the ability to quickly inspect alloy Bars in the event of a crash, as well as meeting the minimum weight restriction. If you listen at the end you can hear they have a 150 gram weight in the bottom bracket. take that out and add on carbon bars and you're under the weight restriction.
I know. I just find it funny that people always have to have dura ace and all carbon everything otherwise it's "second rate".
The bike is still heavy.
1Kg lighter than my CAAD12.
nice bike its just that theres no real riders to make it a stage winning bike.
Some of these cyclists have such a skinny upper body, I wonder if they struggle to get those bidons out after a long day in the saddle :P
Lasty to do all reviews or at least teach the rest how to do them properly. No measurements of reach and saddle height.
