I know how to knit, but learned how to knit in 6th grade, however fast forward 50 years I have not knitted much but still know how. I have never used more then 2 needles at one time, so I find this very intriguing and would very much so want to learn more. I find your tutorials very useful as to refreshing my memory and learning new techniques. Thank you for being my guide. I appreciate you so much for everything you do.

I have been knitting for 61 years. And things are always changing. I also have been crocheting for 51 years self taught on both. But I am always learning new things.

Thank you Mikey. I’m a crocheter. I’ve wanted to learn to knit. You’ve helped me more than anyone. Hugs.

Hi Mike, I've a couple of comments. When using dpn's I keep the last needle in front for the next 2 stitches. It is easier - at least for me - to tighten those stitches. Then Imove the last needle behind to get it out of the way. Hope this makes sense.
You're doing a great job of teaching newbies how to knit. Working slowly is really helpful too. (I've been knitting for about 65 years.) Those lose first stitches can create what is called a ladder - why becomes obvious as you knit more. Some of the space can be removed by hand, moving the yarn around, and some as the item is wet blocked.
I've knit so many hays that my #8 US metal circular needle has grooves in it. (Must remember to buy another.) I syst a hat from the bottom and when I have too few stitches to keep knitting in the round for the top I squish my wire together and split up the stitches. I knit a group of stitches, let my needle "go round" and then squish it again, divide the stitches and knit. I can finish a hat by only using the circular needle! Makes it easier to knit in the car, while travelog, etc. Thanks for being on RUclips. I'd be so proud & grinning if you were my son. ❤

I'm following all your beginner patterns. Can't understand those folks who already know what they're doing! 🎉Thank you! There's hope for me learning to knit yet! 😅

Fantastic tutorial! You can also cast onto a straight needle and then transfer

One tip: cast on with a circular needle one size larger than the size you’re actually going to use for your project - if the pattern calls for a 3.5mm needle throughout, use a 3.75mm or 4.0mm to cast on with; this makes transferring to dpns easier. Also, it’s fine to join and create a few rows on the circulars before transferring the stitches to dpns.

I just finished my first knit hat last night and I was scared to put the stitches on dpns but I did it! I think I will wait until I have more practice before I try casting on them though!

I'm beginner knitter as well. I'll have to try this when ready to tackle a hat or socks. Right now my 3rd project is working on basket weave blanket for a twin bed. Think might be biting off more than can chew?
