I am subscribing from this tutorial alone. I have had this yarn for five years and could not find out how to work it. The tutorials from Red Heart themselves were not great. Those people may be excellent knitters, but they're not my type of teachers. I hope you know what a difference you have made.

I’ve just commented on your 3 cast on video but feel I want to say something similar on this video. I’m in my late 70’s and my mum taught me to knit. I knitted for myself then my children and onto my grandchildren. Then through technology and loving people like you I learnt to crochet and absolutely loved it, but now as a little great grandchild is on the way I’ve turned back to knitting. Must admit it was an absolute opportunity to dig through all the lovely tutorials that not only teach..or in my case…re teach…but give both pleasure and joy. Yes, like you, at first, when I was knitting I could almost feel my mum looking over my shoulder to check I’m doing it right, now she’s sitting in the room with me knitting away. I use wooden needles but I can almost hear mums metal needles clicking way. It’s wonderful and that’s just perfect 👌 so I completely understand your sentiment about the method you use. I don’t knit for speed but for the joy it gives me. You do you, because I do me! Thank you for all your videos both crocheting or knitting and I have to say, especially for your shorts. You have such a lovely sense of humour. Bye 💁🏼‍♀️💕

I’m in my late 70’s and my mum taught me to knit similar at the cable method but only through the front loop, and that’s the way l did it for a number of years….don’t remember how I learnt the cable cast on but that was my go to from then on. I originally knitted for myself then my children and then my grandchildren, then via RUclips and wonderful people like you I switched to crochet and love it, but now a little great grandchild is on the way I’ve turned back to my first love and am thrilled to find you there on RUclips doing knitting. I definitely needed only a little encouragement delve into tutorials because it’s wonderful company to help fill the hours. Your form of teaching is so humorous it’s an absolute pleasure to watch….learning….or relearning….in my case should be fun. It’s all about the pleasure of making and giving, stress is an unwanted visitor in my house. Thank you so much for you company. Bye for now 💁🏼‍♀️🫶🏻

How do you purl with this? Cause every tutorial I see looks like they’re doing stockinette, yet they never show how to switch colors on the purl rows. It’s frustrating not knowing and I don’t understand why they don’t put it in their tutorials.

Out of curiosity, why can’t it be done with every other stitch or every stitch to better hide the yarn in the back? Would it make it bulky? Would it show on the other side? I want to color work but am so scared of messing up my work.

    • @Aedra101

Try it out. I know messing up the beautiful pattern is scary, but you can always frog it and redo it. It isn't a waste of time, because you'll have learned something. Don't be afraid to experiment and play around.

@ I’m currently working on a 60 inch blanket and I swear, I keep forgetting to use the darn lifeline. By the time I reached the final stitches and counted to double check, I realized I had messed up on one section all the way at the beginning. It’s so frustrating having to unknit to that section. I swear this blanket has been such a test of my patience and will power. It’s called “Knit and Purls only blanket”. I’m lucky that it’s simple knit and purls in comparison to my prior project that had anything from ssk2tog, k3tog, cables, yo’s, and k2tog. Now that took me over a year only because the amount of mistakes I made had me literally pulling my hair out. I’m so looking forward to starting color work as soon as I’m done with this blanket and will certainly be experimenting on those questions.
