I've seen shenks and bombergers in the wild but didn't know anything about them at the time plus the price was ridiculous so I passed. Love the video's!
I was lucky enough to score two of the 2023 after never having seen them in person before. I’ve opened one and have had pours out of it 2 different times. I’ve been drinking bourbon for 15 years and it is one of the best I’ve had. As mentioned here, full of flavor. I get a mouth full of toasted butterscotch, marshmallow and gram cracker. Almost like a toasted s’more with butterscotch or caramel. Definitely going to hang onto the first bottle for as long as I can and maybe save the other bottle for a few years to open on special occasions.
I need Randy to do 10+ videos more often! This is my favorite low proof release from 2023. Sadly I didn’t get a M10B so I can’t compare to everyone’s favorite but I’m very happy with Shenk’s whenever I go to it!
I’m a huge Michters fan, but never paid too much attention to Shenk’s. Guess I will have to revisit and give it a try. Peace and love to all and keep pouring!!
I have been lucky to find several Bomberger's from 2023 and LOVE them. I haven't found a Shenk's, but have tasted it and I agree, it punches way above the low proof worries. Great one fellas!
Michters is one of those distillers that I never think of when someone asked which distilleries do you enjoy, but I seem to really enjoy all of their offerings
I love that you guys do this and give some lucky winners the opportunity to taste something they may never have the chance to otherwise. Keep on keeping it real.
Pretty good stuff. I agree with the toasted notes. I think its a blend from a couple distilleries and agree that Brown Forman is probably a primary supplier in addition to maybe Barton maybe being in the blend a slight amount. Not enough to where the cherry is prominent but they are a notable supplier to many NDPs.
I totally agree - full flavor, good texture, low proof. I will admit trying 2022 and 2023 Shenk's - it is my favorite whiskey in that proof range, hands down.
Love you guys. Finished my whiskey row collection doing a blind this weekend with friends I've bonded of bourbon. If I win, I'm going to do a michters!
Would love to know more about the details of the juice (age, process, finished/unfinished, etc). Wish they disclosed that. But totally agree, this year’s release is amazing. Great review
Awesome don’t know if you filmed 11 on the day but you can tell it’s the end of the day …. Hubby and I did an overnight trip last night the glen carrier is a MUST have we love it🎉 Cheers guys💜
I tried 2022's version of shenks and it had a really good mouth feel for a 90 proofer. It tasted like an elevated michters bourbon with some toastiness
Just bought my first bottle of Michters which was my first ever bottle of rye and it was game changing for me. Barely a rye with all the good bourbon notes i like. That Shanks sounds great tho
I was fortunate enough to try the Michter's 10 and Shenk's this year- I have always been a fan, but they knocked it out of the park this year (including the Bombergers)
Never tried Shenk's before. I got lucky enough to find a Bomberger's at MSRP a couple years back, and really enjoyed it. I would love to see how it compares to Shenk's sometime.
I’ve seen them but never tried them. The price scared me even though I pay similar prices for Weller 107 without thinking about it haha. Which I know I shouldn’t but this is Michigan. Nothing sells for retail here
Randy should make 10+ videos in a day. Great review and the petrol smell on German Rieslings is something I haven't thought of or tasted in years and I'll try to keep that in mind if i get my hands on this juice. Local H-town smell.... I get that everyday. Cheers
Michter’s is the king of low proof flavorful bourbon. Every expression they have is its own gem. I was fortunate to find a Shenks at msrp last year and fell in love with it! Great video guys!
Lucked into a 2022 shenks during a Christmas Eve drop locally, but was 2 people too far back in line to get a bombergers. Always a fan of higher proof, curious how it would stack up, and if it's the same distillate. Great review and I would agree, one of the best 90 proofers in my selection.
I do love the idea of excellent low proofer whiskies! With all the ultra high proof hunting, it makes me happy to hear there's sub-100 proof stuff people love. It makes for whiskey that's more accessible for me to share with friends that can't do 120+ pf stuff and I love it.
When I had Shenks a couple years, not only did I think it was full of flavor, I thought it had this very unique mouthfeel. The only way I could describe the mouthfeel is effervescent. Loved it.
I was able to find a couple when they came out -- I originally got a weird lumberyard note or something (maybe that toasted note) at first but it's either gone away or it's grown on me. Such a unique flavor.
Would absolutely love to try/find that 2023 Michters 10. Especially cause I believe its actually a 15yr old bourbon. Interesting how humble they are??? 😆
I have the 2022 Shenk’s, which I thought was great, but it’s the only Shenk’s I’ve ever had, so I can’t really compare it to anything. I agree that Michter’s low proof products are excellent though. Going to have to try to hunt down the 2023 Shenk’s now. Cheers!
Have gotten to try last years Bomberger's, this years M10 Bourbon and Rye. It is very interesting how the Bomberger's and Shenk's taste very different with the finishes they put in it and don't list directly unless you read about it. Wish they would disclose their OLD source for their whiskey? Cheers!
I finally managed to snag the 2023, meanwhile my boss had tracked down a 2019 for me. The 2019 is fantastic! Butterscotch bomb! I haven't cracked the 2023 yet. I had to get at least one bottle given that I share the same name with the founder, John M Shenk. I'm sure there's a relation there given that he was a Mennonite farmer and most of father's side of the family is/was Mennonite. Anyway, great video and great channel!!! I love what you are doing!
Nailed it with the wine. French oak is perfect for aging wine and it shows here. Also tastes more flavorful than high proof and bombergers bc of the French oak sweetness that brings out the chinquapin in a way bombergers doesn’t
Anyone else notice the very specific location that Randy likes to have the bottle in the video? 3:38 mark. 2nd or 3rd video I've noticed him move it after Aaron touches a bottles. Love the channel. Haven't had Shenk's yet, but the 2023 Bomburger's was very good. Keep up the great content!
Shenks is my favorite nose from 2023! I was able to get this and the Bombergers at the distillery on my birthday last year. Best present to myself! 😂Cheers BRT 🥃
Great video guys! I was lucky enough to secure a Shenk's this past fall, the Bomberger has eluded me, would love to win a sample to try the M10, Shenk's and BDAYB.. You guys are very generous! Thank you!
I know they used malted rye for the 2023 Shenk's its going to be interesting for this years Shenk's. I also heard the proof on the Bomberger's for this year is going to be lower than normal.
Enjoy Michters offerings and have been waiting for Shenks to drop in PA. Unfortunately it will likely drop online only where they get snatched up in minutes (PA state site has no BOT protection).
I have a bottle of this shenks from 23’. I was told when I was in the line that this bottle was fantastic and better than the bombergers for 23. I have not opened mine up and have a Michter 10 year on my shelf too but have not opened it up too. I was waiting for a special occasion for both those bottles built I would love to know how good both of those bottles really are for being as low proof as they are.
Great video! I’ve loved the recent Bomberger’s releases, but have been hesitant to get the Shenk’s given the low proof point. Would love to try it now though!
4:19 I've never been around an oil refinery, but more than once I've been in the oil patch in Texas and Oklahoma, and where there are a lot of wells there's a distinctive waxy smell to the air. I wonder if that's at all similar to the "petrol" note y'all are getting. I like the smell of the oil patch, but I'm not sure I'd want it from my whisky. 🙂
Scored a 2024 in the most unlikely store in Richmond va. Southside plaza of all places. This is an amazing bottle what a great sipper.
I've seen shenks and bombergers in the wild but didn't know anything about them at the time plus the price was ridiculous so I passed.
Love the video's!
They can be a bit expensive. Thanks for watching.
I was lucky enough to score two of the 2023 after never having seen them in person before. I’ve opened one and have had pours out of it 2 different times. Nice! Thanks for watching!

This is my favorite low proof release from 2023. Sadly I didn’t get a M10B so I can’t compare to everyone’s favorite but I’m very happy with Shenk’s whenever I go to it!
Michter's kills it at lower proofs
I’m a huge Michters fan, but never paid too much attention to Shenk’s. Guess I will have to revisit and give it a try. Peace and love to all and keep pouring!!
Amen
I have been lucky to find several Bomberger's from 2023 and LOVE them. I haven't found a Shenk's, but have tasted it and I agree, it punches way above the low proof worries. Great one fellas!

Michters is one of those distillers that I never think of when someone asked which distilleries do you enjoy, but I seem to really enjoy all of their offerings
Thanks for interacting with the community and being so generous
You're very welcome - we're thankful to have an amazing community.
Always on the look out for this bottle. It shows proof is not always the biggest factor to a good drink.
I wish I was not as sensitive to proof.
I love that you guys do this and give some lucky winners the opportunity to taste something they may never have the chance to otherwise. Keep on keeping it real.
Thanks, we appreciate that!
Pretty good stuff. I agree with the toasted notes. I totally agree - full flavor, good texture, low proof. I will admit trying 2022 and 2023 Shenk's - it is my favorite whiskey in that proof range, hands down.
They have a skill!
Thanks Guys, I just got a bottle of Shenks and Bombergers, have not tried yet but great review and insight into this brand and distillery
I hope you enjoy them!
I was lucky enough to get the 2023 Bombergers and it was fantastic. Still hoping to try this one to compare the two.
I would be curious to compare too! Cheers!
Love you guys. Finished my whiskey row collection doing a blind this weekend with friends I've bonded of bourbon. If I win, I'm going to do a michters!
Nice!
Would love to know more about the details of the juice (age, process, finished/unfinished, etc). Wish they disclosed that. But totally agree, this year’s release is amazing. Great review

I tried 2022's version of shenks and it had a really good mouth feel for a 90 proofer. It tasted like an elevated michters bourbon with some toastiness
I like a little toasted note!
Lucked in to a bottle of Shenk's in 2023 and it immediately became a top 5 for me. Love it!
It is shockingly good at that proof.
Just bought my first bottle of Michters which was my first ever bottle of rye and it was game changing for me. Barely a rye with all the good bourbon notes i like. That Shanks sounds great tho
Thanks for watching!
I was fortunate enough to try the Michter's 10 and Shenk's this year- I have always been a fan, but they knocked it out of the park this year (including the Bombergers)
Love the video! I found Shenks last year at my local bar and agree with you. It is so flavorful and surprising at the proof point.
I luckily grabbed Bomberger and Shenk this year. Love them.
I know I'm late to the party...but enjoyed your video...Keep up the good work! Let's do those 10 videos...
I’ve never heard of this before. If I can find one I’ll give it a try. Nothing wrong with a full flavor lower proof whiskey.
I'm a big michters fan. I really enjoy the Shenks. Never had the Bombergers
The ones I have tried were solid!
Never tried Shenk's before. I got lucky enough to find a Bomberger's at MSRP a couple years back, and really enjoyed it. I would love to see how it compares to Shenk's sometime.
Another one to add to the list when I travel to the big City.
Good luck on the hunt
I was lucky enough to get a shenks this year. Looking forward to cracking it soon.
I hope you enjoy it!
Bombergers 2023 was one my top 5 favorites from last year. Haven't had a shenks yet
I haven't tried anything Michters yet and haven't seen Shenk's in my area, but I'll put them on my list!
Good luck on the hunt.
Went to Michter's last year and didn't try Shenks but good, interesting and honest review!
Thank you!
I’ve seen them but never tried them. The price scared me even though I pay similar prices for Weller 107 without thinking about it haha. Which I know I shouldn’t but this is Michigan. Nothing sells for retail here
For the proof it is solid!
Randy should make 10+ videos in a day. Great review and the petrol smell on German Rieslings is something I haven't thought of or tasted in years and I'll try to keep that in mind if i get my hands on this juice. Local H-town smell.... I get that everyday. Cheers
I've seen exactly 1 of these in the wild at it was $249. I need to find it somewhere so that I can taste it before I start hunting it. Cheers!
It isn't worth $249, but a solid pour.
Michter’s is the king of low proof flavorful bourbon. Every expression they have is its own gem. I was fortunate to find a Shenks at msrp last year and fell in love with it! Great video guys!
Coming up with the giveaway on the fly is great!
We did several. I am creating the webforms as I publish and thinking, damn, that is a good giveaway!
I haven’t seen one of these in stores near me before, but I’ll be keeping an eye out after watching this review!
Hope you can track it down!
I am a big fan of Shenks. I paid $140 for the 2023 and I was happy with that. It’s a low proof hitter. Cheers
I do love the idea of excellent low proofer whiskies! With all the ultra high proof hunting, it makes me happy to hear there's sub-100 proof stuff people love. It makes for whiskey that's more accessible for me to share with friends that can't do 120+ pf stuff and I love it.
I found a bottle at retail. Haven’t opened it yet because I figured I would never get another one. Saving it for a special occasion.
Glad you like it!
In Iowa, they are only available in raffles... Put many people pass on them to go for Buffalo Trace products and they are definitely sleepers
I picked up a bottle of both the Shenks and Bombergers at the Mitcher's distillery for retail $120 per bottle.
Glad to hear that you guys would buy the bottles at 120$ cause I’ve found two at that price
Cheers!
I'm right there with you on the low proof observation. Michters 10 going to bat against the cask strength monsters is unreal. Thanks for the review!
I agree on the Brown Foreman … we picked up this Shenks and a barrel your own bourbon when at distillery and both were fantastic!
Have gotten to try last years Bomberger's, this years M10 Bourbon and Rye. It is very interesting how the Bomberger's and Shenk's taste very different with the finishes they put in it and don't list directly unless you read about it. Wish they would disclose their OLD source for their whiskey? Cheers!
There is no chance they do not have an NDA. We know the distillery is legacy and wants that information hidden.
I finally managed to snag the 2023, meanwhile my boss had tracked down a 2019 for me. The 2019 is fantastic! Butterscotch bomb! I haven't cracked the 2023 yet. Never seen Shenks in NY either in the wild or at secondary. Would love a pour. Keep up the great content.
I have not seen any of these anywhere. I do like Mitchers very well.
I saw one at a raffle this year. Mine was from CA.
Randy should keep doing videos as much as possible. He has so many bottles that I don't have!
I'll do my best!
Didn’t know this came from micthers, really enjoyed this video. I’d love to know the history behind that proof point.
We were unscripted, so I didn't do any research.
What an awesome giveaway, Randy!! Love what you are doing on your channel!
Thanks for watching!
Great video reviewing the overlooked bottles of 23! You should do a review of Baker's 13.
That’s a raving review for a 91.2 proof for you two guys ….
It must be a banger
It shocked me.
I’ve not had the opportunity to try this one. Never seen one in the wild! Thanks for sharing your opinions🥃
Thanks for watching!
I had last year‘s bombburgers I wasn’t mad at it. Glad I got the try but given the opportunity again, I’d try buy something else.
Shenks is my favorite nose from 2023! I was able to get this and the Bombergers at the distillery on my birthday last year. Best present to myself! 😂Cheers BRT 🥃
Nice! It does nose well!
I was lucky enough to find one last year. Very unique pour. One of the best michters I have tried!
Great to hear about so many quality low proof offerings.
They do a great job!
Great video guys! I was lucky enough to secure a Shenk's this past fall, the Bomberger has eluded me, would love to win a sample to try the M10, Shenk's and BDAYB.. You guys are very generous! Thank you!
We have an OFBB giveaway dropping tomorrow.
Great review of Shenks! I think it's very underrated.
I was impressed
What a give-a-way! Never had any of them. Thanks for the review! I would have to buy at retail if I saw it.
I have had a bottle since they were selling for $38.99, and I have not tried it in years. This surprised me.
I vote Randy keeps doing 10+ videos so he’s extra generous on the giveaways!
I know they used malted rye for the 2023 Shenk's its going to be interesting for this years Shenk's. I also heard the proof on the Bomberger's for this year is going to be lower than normal.
If anyone can do it Michter's can.
Michters 10 is awesome. Haven't tried the Shenks, but seems like everyone overhypes it a bit because of the limited availability
Randy should always do 10 videos batches, it's good for the viewers. 😛😉
Noted!🤣
Didn't get a shenks but the bombergers was great from last year!
I have liked the ones I have tried.
Enjoy Michters offerings and
have been waiting for Shenks to drop in PA. Unfortunately it will likely drop online only where they get snatched up in minutes (PA state site has no BOT protection).
The Michter’s whiskey I find on the shelf is really good. These special releases must be amazing because I have never seen one in the wild.
Haven’t been able to try any of Michter’s allocated stuff, big fan of the core lineup though
Both are solid! Thanks for watching!
I’ve never had such a viscous whiskey at such a low proof before! This stuff is delicious, no doubt. I am really dying to try the 10 year bourbon.
The 2023 punches way above its weight class!
I was able to find the ‘23 shenks at retail, i’ve been waiting to open it but plan on it after watching
Haven’t tried the shenks yet, but Mitchers put out some decent juice.
Agreed! Thanks for watching!
I have the 2023 Bombergers….love it. Would be great to compare to the 2023 Shenks.
I 100% agree I think it's Brown Forman
I've really been wanting to try the Michters 10 for sure and the Birthday Bourbon great episode
Thanks
I have a bottle of this shenks from 23’. I was told when I was in the line that this bottle was fantastic and better than the bombergers for 23. I have not opened mine up and have a Michter 10 year on my shelf too but have not opened it up too. Great video! I’ve loved the recent Bomberger’s releases, but have been hesitant to get the Shenk’s given the low proof point. Would love to try it now though!
Just like Rod Tidwell told Jerry Maguire, “Show me the Brown-Forman”.
🤣
I do like the idea of comparing them to see if they are indeed Brown Forman. Nice video idea.
Thanks for watching!
I love Shenks. It’s probably my favorite low proof whiskey!
I could see that. Thanks for watching!
Great episode, gentleman. Very informative.
Thank you!
Thanks for the review. Shenks hasn’t been on my radar. definitely intrigued now!
You're welcome - thanks for being here!
I just got my first bottle of Shenks. I love it!
Good to hear!
Really starting to enjoy the michters lineup more and more!
Have not seen these nor have sought them out yet. I wish Michters was more transparent about their whiskeys. If I come across, i will buy, though.
I got the Shenks and missed the Bombergers. I love the Shenks! great video!
I hope you love it!
Great commentary as always. Love the channel, family bought me the aroma kit for the holidays. Outstanding, I highly recommend it.
Awesome! So glad you enjoy it. We appreciate you being here!
Thanks for the review! Im hoping to go for a taste of Shenks at a local bottle shop this weekend, so I appreciate the notes before I go in for it
2023s michters 10 was delicious.. never found this one but still looking
I’ve yet to try a michters in my young bourbon journey. I should probably change that asap!
