He's done it. Rex has Mooched the channel, the distillery, and Irene Tan. But in all seriousness, with you both all the way. Can't wait to see what comes next!
You two pretty much literally started my whiskey journey 5 years ago. I still want to support you both. Thank you so much, and good luck. Here's to the unknown, you MAGNIFICENT bastards.
Daniel and Rex started my whiskey journey too, back when Rex just began to understand whiskey in reviews with his ridiculous necklace. What a journey ❤
Back to the first days of the Whiskey Vault Channel, when Daniel did his first Advent calendar tastings, I started my Whiskey Journey with you all and I bought a bottle of Lagavulin 16 as you couldn't stop talking about it. I couldn't drink it but over time, I learned. I learned so much, I started teaching people about whiskey and everything drinks. I now work as a consultant in the alcohol industry. That bottle of Lagavulin 16, I kept. As a memento of how far I came in my whiskey journey but it only had maybe two drams left. I'm drinking that today. To signify the end of your journey together. I know it's not the end but just a different path but I can't tell you in any other way how much you all have influenced me. Thank you Daniel and Rex for all you've done for the entire MB community. To Fighting, Stealing and Drinking 🥃
Rex, you absolutely have permission to show off more people. Daniel is exactly right, people coming and going is perfectly normal, as long as they're leaving for the right reasons - that's what matters!
Honestly cried at the end. Have been watching since the beginning and honestly the episodes have gotten me through some real shit. I honestly don’t know if I’ll be able to continue to watch. It’ll never be the same. Thank you Daniel for giving someone who has severely struggled with anxiety a channel to escape and find a community.
I moved to Japan about 5 years ago and gradually this channel became my refuge to listen to some good, old-fashioned, friendly American banter over a drink. Living in a foreign culture, it was a connection to a life and language I had left behind. I had no idea how strong that connection was until today when I suddenly felt like a part of my very being was ripped out. Words can’t express my gratitude to you guys!!
You all have done what most would consider the absolute best job at being honest, highlighting the interesting aspects of whiskey (whether that be people or process), and made it fun to follow along and learn along the way. This is nowhere near the end my friends. You just wrapped up chapter 1. Cheers to both of you and everyone on the team.
Just 4 mins in and I'm floored by the origin story. Never knew how much rex and his family had to do with this. Bravo. Thank you both for getting me into whiskey.
It reminds me of an old quote from Rex’s favorite drinker Winston Churchill: “This isn’t the end. It’s not even the beginning of the end. But it may be the end of the beginning.” Cheers, Daniel!
I had no idea this happened, I’ve taken a break from drinking whiskey and watching the channels, I come back after six months and wasn’t expecting this. I love watching Whiskey Vault and the chemistry they have together, always entertaining and educational.🥃
The impact these 2 have had on the world of Whiskey is outrageous. Collectively, every distiller should be thanking them for boosting sales and making whiskey cool again. I was 30 when I first caught on to this channel as a beer drinker and now I regularly buy whiskey. I can only imagine how many more have taken the same route. Best of luck to Daniel is his future endeavours.
It’s funny, in the last two months I have been struggling with change. With my son showing symptoms of neurological issues and in turn turning me into a temporary stay at home dad, I wasn’t ready for this episode. This channel has been my escape for years and being able to be apart, even as just an audience member, of the amazing shenanigans that this tribe creates has been a pleasure. This episode truly helped me come to terms with the thought that even though change happens, they’re just stepping stones to a new chapter, good or bad. Takeing it a day at a time, I want to say thank you to Rex and Daniel for everything you bring, the joy, and laughter is our(the tribes) escape. I think stepping stones is a good idea Rex, follow your heart and take us on the journeys you have. We, as a tribe, have your back.
Watching Daniel walk out of the distillery was an emotional moment which is an odd feeling to have from Australia. what a great journey it has been to witness! I cant wait to see what else we have coming!!! HERE is to, two of the MOST magnificent bastards Daniel & Rex!!
Catching up. Wow...Forever Bo and Luke Duke. Thank you for helping me through my depression during the pandemic. Your channel was part of not only saving my life and recovering, but finding myself again. Daniel will always be part of the family.
You’re such a phenomenal storyteller, Rex. Often times we see the fun, silly side of your production and that creates the caricature and persona that’s needed to balance the scenes that you two shoot together. But this video truly demonstrates your talent for capturing the threads of a narrative and weaving them elegantly and poignantly together into something beautifully heartfelt. As much as this was a goodbye to the way of things we grew used to, it’s also a powerful reminder that there’s so much more to come. Can’t wait to be along for the next chapter of the journey!
SO very well said. No need to worry about the MBs we WILL be here to support both of you. Sure will miss the interaction between the two of you, but understand the reasoning behind the decisions made. Thanks for explaining it to us in a most, as @Swadragon1 said "elegant and poignantly" way. May the best of our past be the worst of our future. -or- May the saddest day of your future be no worse than the happiest day of your past. Slainte!
100% I also love the videos where Rex gets a bit more serious. The jokey mooch persona is fun but seeing him care so much about Crowded Barrel, his staff and the community just hits on another level.
Thank you, Daniel. And you too Rex. I've been watching since I was 17, over 6 years ago. You guys were great role models, you taught me far more than just the ways of whiskey. I wish you all the best
Farewell Daniel. You will be missed on this channel. Your humor and wits. I look forward to watching you on the whiskey vault. Hearing your stories about the wizard academy and your whiskey journey. Truly the end of an Era. Thank you.
Yea, I feel this. Still trying to figure out why exactly. I hope the channel stays as good as I believe it will. I will miss Daniel.

I found you guys because of the buffalo trace´s video in Whiskey Vault. We don´t have 99% of the options you show, here in Brazil (sometimes we can find a different brand, but the prices are prohibitive). So I started to watch whiskey tribe for the laught and the vibe. I wish all the fun and success for you guys! ✌😄
When I first found this channel it was about a month or so into the pandemic and it was so great to have a relief from the bad news. To see people who wanted to try new things, learn, and build something was uplifting. Watching two people be friends and work together on an awesome project having fun along the way made me hope for a time when I could have a drink with a friend again. Thank you Daniel for showing Green Spot it’s one of my favorite whiskies now. Thank you both for the hard work and for having a philosophy about people building each other up and growing together.
I too discovered the MAGNIFICENT bastards during the early part of the pandemic. The signature toast grabbed me by the throat. Here's to stealing, fighting and drinking. 🥃
You probably won't be able to read everyone's comments, but I just wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed the time you guys have shared on the screen together. It's more than whiskey, it's watching a dream grow and change. Thank you both for inviting us all in, and I know that this next turn will take us on another amazing trip.
Damn, Daniel. Thank you for the years of amazing education, the laughs, stories, quotes, and so, so many whiffs with the garbage can. A toast, to a wise old wizard, may his glass never empty, and his heart remain full. Cheers, you truly Magnificent Bastard See you in the Vault
Ladies and gentleman. THIS is what growth looks like. You guys have done amazing work. Built an amazing community. Bring amazing MBs together. Don't be sad that it has ended. Be happy that it happened. You guys are the reason I got into whiskey tasting as a hobby, and the reason why I am intrigued with whiskey as a business and a science. Going to miss the Rex and Daniel shenanigans, but I'm glad that you were able to add to your repertoire with other guests and keep it going. As long as content continues to be made, I will surely be there to watch and learn. Cheers to the Original MBs. The Somm and the Mooch. And most importantly, Cheers to the community and legacy you guys have worked on.
I wish you all the best Daniel. Thank you both for inspiring me and showing me the beuatiful world of Whiskey. When I was 18 I was gifted a 375 ml bottle of Glenlivet 18 by my uncle. I was fascinated by the fact that the spirit was as old as I was. So I started reading about the production of whiskey and found your channel. Today I'm 25 and work in a liqueur store and have since found a passion for wine and beer, but it all started with whiskey. So thank you for being the beginning of my passion.
So, I work at a small craft bar/bottle shop in Orange County California. I work as a bartender and a spirit guide for the bottle shop. Similar to Irene’s we mainly carry the smaller craft distilleries that don’t have the major distribution that huge mega distilleries do. I often host whisk(e)y and tequila tastings, and every so often I run into a fellow MB, and it’s always amazing! Anyway, long story short, the vault and tribe channels (and Daniel especially) have taught and essentially laid out the blueprints for me. So thank you. From the bottom of my heart and the bottom of my glass. Here’s to that next step Daniel and Rex! Much love! -Sterling
Wow. This is an end of an ERA. I'm so sad. I've been watching for many years, and during the pandemic, this channel felt like home. I really do feel a sense of loss. Like your parents divorcing. Or the boys going their different ways after college. Like a bad break up. I know it's all amicable, but damn, it's sad. Daniel, you'll be missed. I wish you didn't have to do this because of IRS and the Wizarding Academy duties. I know Wizarding Academy is Rex's family legacy, but all these channels and this community - it's something special and unique. I wish you both could find another resolution. I feel like this the past 7 years is just the beginning, and you'd both scale up together. Maybe ditch the non-profit angle, and go full private with R&D fueled by stakeholders. Cheers to you both! The channels won't be the same, but, I'm not sure better or worse without one another. You guys together make magic. Don't stop the magic ! Also that last shot with Daniel handing Brianna the sledghammer was magic. You're a great storyteller, Rex.
The two of you have been around since the start of my entire whiskey journey six years ago, and were the reason for the first thing in had in common with my now father in law. I will always watch your new videos and will forever support however I am able to. Thank you Daniel, for everything you have done and good luck with everything you will do.
Transparency and authenticity always are the best paths. My brother introduced me to the channel as we both enjoyed drinking whiskey and smoking cigars together. I lost him in January this year to cancer and find joy and connection to him through your channels. Whatever you both are doing, I am behind you 100% Thanks for helping me keep great memories of my brother going every time I watch.
As a Canadian I can honestly say, I'm with you 100% of the time, and I so look forward to how this movement spreads....Launching people further, instead of holding them down like so many places do....thanks for that and the world should thank both you and Daniel for this innovative stepping stone...❤❤
How TF 2 bearded guys almost brings a dude like me to tears ?? You know, each episodes I ever watched brought me joy, laughs and knowledge. I also always felt like you were my friends. Do you know how charismatic you guys are to make us feel this way ? It was a hell of a journey with Daniel. I appreciate every single ones who are in this show but, it will never be the same again without him. Wish the best of luck to all of you and THANK YOU. Oh, and when Daniel handed the sledgehammer to Briana and walks away ... damn, chills all over the place.
For someone who has followed you for sooooo long (before you reached a 1000 subs) this hurts a bit. You explained it perfectly and it also makes sense. But you guys are the reason I have started my whisky journey, the reason I have tasted well over 300 incredible whiskies. I am very thankful for that. And I will always be around to see what new great things the tribe and the vault and all the magnificent bastards have in stock. But this is very bittersweet.😢😢 It feels like the end of a long journey and not knowing what comes next. You are a dynamic duo and that made it special . Change is natural but also sometimes hard to accept. Especially when the change comes before I had the chance to make my trip to the fang and feather 😆 but I hope when I make it there it's a day where the both of you are their, so I can thank you properly for the entertainment and knowledge I gained through you two. Thank you for the wild ride and all the whiskies I found because of you both of you. And hopefully the future will be even better and brighter. Thank you Daniel ❤ for all the fun times and all the knowledge you brought us here. For the hilarious shenanigans and the tears of laughter , truly thankful for the ride
So this is what happened. I hadn't been recommended your videos in a long time and figured RUclips was being RUclips. You guys have brought me a lot of joy since the start of the vault. It's been a wild ride and this isn't the end its just a stepping stone to something new and better. Rex you don't need our permission but a proper... Graduation ceremony for those that leave would be appreciated so we know they're moving on. Keep up the great work and we'll still be here as long as you keep making content. I'll see Daniel at the Whiskey Vault.
When I saw the Title, "End of the Road," it got me worried. I so look forward to all the info and shenanigans that you two (plus others) have provided for so long. The chemistry between you Daniel, and you Rex, has been... wow I'm at a lost of words. ... Oh I got it. As I think of it, your chemistry is like a fine BLENDED Whiskey. You two have complimented and enriched each other and the sum of the parts is so far beyond the parts by themselves (not that either of you are slouches). I raise my glencarin glass you Daniel on your ability to now focus on your true calling. And Rex I can see that the Mooch has grown up far beyond what I first saw years ago. You got your big boy pants on now for all to see and I look forward to seeing all you have in store for us. Thanks for all you have done for all of us MB's. Slainte!
Rarely does a RUclips channel legitimately make me tear up. Daniel you will be missed. I don't know what else to say. Best of luck on your future voyages!
Honestly, respect to both of y’all. This ain’t good-bye, it’s the welcoming of a new era, and it’s not Dan leaving because of negativity, it’s to bring in new positivity. I can’t imagine how difficult it’s been for y’all, and I hope y’all’s new work flow is healthy and beneficial for all involved. Y’all have been my solace channel over this past year, and seeing all the progress you guys and the teams involved is incredible to me. I wish you all the best, and that this next phase is something that is beneficial and joyous for everyone.
Without trying to be overly sentimental, which I’m about to be, love you guys and like many here really got me on my whiskey journey. Was always a lover of bourbon, and my family has been in the business my whole life but you really helped me understand more about what I didn’t even know I was around and introduced me to new ideas.. which really is what any community should be about. The whiskey is the vehicle, the people are the foundation and the lesson. Thank you all. Can’t wait to continue the journey.
This video was so well done. I got emotional because of a video on a RUclips channel about whiskey. I’ve watched you guys for ages, and through this channel Daniel and Rex have taught me everything I know about whiskey and a bunch of stuff I forgot. Cheers, Daniel. Thanks for everything.
On the topic of the "Stepping Stone" idea... I am blessed to work on a team in my career that is effectively a "stepping stone" team. The only time people leave the team is for better opportunities outside of it. Very often, these are opportunities within the same company and they are positions that help people use the skills they've learned and developed while on my team. It is always bittersweet because it's hard to lose good, talented and passionate people, but it's rewarding to be the catalyst of that development and to watch people succeed beyond what they even thought was possible. Rex, you are a catalyst for people to grow and develop and that cannot be understated. It's tough, but it's the sign of a healthy workplace and the product of a great leader. You may be the mooch in our hearts, but for the folks at Crowded Barrel, you are the compass. I'm excited to see what both you and Daniel can do with your full attention on each of your own gigs. Great times and great whiskey is ahead, for both of you.
A few things... First, I think when people come and go, we as the audience fully understand that these things happen and we celebrate it. It's additive rather than subtractive. I think what is important is that there is resolution for the community, even if that's two or three minutes of a video where the two of you are talking, saying what the next opportunity is (if appropriate), and wishing them well. And if there's bad blood, just addressing it and wishing them well rather than hiding it. Second, I can't wait to see the kinds of stories that come up on the other channel! Third, I hope Daniel shows up from time to time, even if it's cameos. The two of you have such a great chemistry on screen.
Insane... I still remember coming home from the Swedish Beer & Whisky Festival in 2017 finding the whisky vault channel and started following it. I remember the 100.000 followers milestone and the first dry week and obviously all the ones that followed. Being from Sweden and not having the financial means to support on patreon etc I've not been that involved in the community the last couple of years. Still this very emotional as the vault and the tribe has been and will still be a part of my "alone" time from family and work etc and I appriciate everything you guys do. So without wasteing more works no one is likely to read... Thank you Daniel, thank you Rex and everyone else as well!
Wow…I have alot to say but mostly, I just want to say thank you to Daniel and Rex. I started watching your channel in 2017, a dark time in my life. Your channel offered a home when I had none, knowledge in an area I was super interested in but no money to pursue it. Your channel has offered me comfort through the loss of my children, family, friends and jobs. I now have a beautiful boy turning 1 year old soon, bought a home, making more money than I ever have and so happy with my wife and son. This channel has meant so much to me. Thank you both for sacrificing so much to create a home for those people like me who had none ❤
I'm 55+ and didn't start drinking Whiskey until after I recovered from c0vid in summer 2020. I was laying there dying on my couch and started watching barrel makers, then whiskey makers, finally Whiskey Tribe. You guys are the reason I bought my first bottle (Elijah Craig). Cheers to the future!
This hurts.........Daniel was the reason I got involved with the Whisky Vault. Hopefully, all this will work out. I'm super stoked that Crowded Barrel will be working with Andalusia!! Thank you so much for all your knowledge Daniel!
Rex, for what its worth you should definitely highlight your talent. Having led teams for years to me the sign of a a good leader is someone who is ok with showcasing their team's talent knowing that talent could leave. That's not a negative reflection on you but rather a showcase for how your organization develops talent. Don't be scared to show your team!
I get it... I hate it... but I get it. and I am still gonna stick around. Good luck to both of the channels and hope this one ends up right for all involved. agan, I hate it, but I am glad you found a way to move forward with this.
Been watching the Vault and the Tribe videos for about 6 years now. I had started collecting whiskies a few years earlier, and found I was able to purchase many of the bottles once I had seen them reviewed, or others from the brands core ranges, so it was very handy having some reference or guidance over the years as my collection grew (over 350 bottles due mostly to the Vault videos). Rex was new to the videos when I started watching, and he was the perfect foil to Daniel with his whiskey knowledge base. You two have such a great chemistry together.......much the same way, when I think about it....to the old TV series The Odd Couple....you are similarly so different as they were.....but you always had fun, and made learning new things about whiskey fun. And of course I would be remiss, not to mention, the hilarity, the high jinks, the shenanigans and tomfoolery you both brought to the Tribe episodes. almost every episode had me busting a gut at the stunts you pulled off every week...it was like watching a more family friendly version of Jackass. You have had some amazing help in the background, and I have to say Fancy Dan was fun and had great chemistry with you in episodes he made cameos......Brianna is another winner......such a character....she cracks me up...I hope she stays around forever! ....well, nothing lasts forever, and change is the only constant in life, so it is with a sense of sadness, learning that Daniel and Rex wont be pinging off each other every day.....if feels like the last episode of M*A*S*H, or the Jerry Seinfeld Show....or the Big Bang Theory.....so many laughs and tears you brought into my everyday, you are like family and will be missed. It was a good run, be proud of what you accomplished....and thanks for the memories you beautifully magnificent bastards!
Dangit y'all. I can't believe I am shedding tears over a RUclips channel. I have been a viewer for a few years now of each channel, and I am both sad to see Daniel's departure but I am also super excited to see what each of you will go out and do. The end of an era for sure, but hoping for so many wonderful things for both of you and everyone behind the scenes.
You guys (that's all of my fellow viewers as well) were my introduction to this world of whiskey. Those days were fun, and this is the only time I've really felt part of a community on the internet. Life goes on, and I had other things I needed to focus on, and my exploration of whiskey became more self guided. I stopped watching these videos as often. I got married and I went back to school. I like to think I grew up a little in the last 5 or 6 years (was it even longer than that?) So I understand that to live is to experience change. And I'm excited about what both of these channels will do going forward. So here's to the good old days, and here's to good new days. May the memories of the past bring you joy, not sorrow, and thoughts of the future bring you excitement, not fear. And here's to fighting, stealing, and drinking siblings you know the rest
It sounds like both sides of the community the tribe and the vault have become so large and successful that it was no longer feasible to split y’all’s attention. Congratulations. You guys should be proud of the amazing things y’all have built.
Daniel will always be part of the tribe, becuse he'll carry it with him wherever he goes, and we will carry him with us. Cheers, gentlemen. Hell of a run. Here's to the next.
Rex and Daniel, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the model you have, you should actually be proud of the fact that you have helped people develop skills that allows them to move on. It makes for a healthy and happy environment. I've worked at places that did their best to keep talent on hand and not let them go, they took it to such extremes that people burnt out and just "rage quit" and completely walked away from their field because it was traumatic for them. I was one of those that walked away because of that situation, from two very fulfilling careers.
Number one rule, the best whisky is the one you like to drink, the way you like to drink it. The way I like to drink is watching these videos of Rex and Daniel. It's the end of an era, thanks for everything guys!
My first video from you guys was the 10 top whiskeys for beginners and I've been all aboard the whiskey train since. It's been a pleasure watching the Whiskey Vault videos and all the weekly shenanigans that you guys have uploaded. I have learned so much and I want to thank you all for the fun. Thank you Daniel for all of your work and good luck with the Wizard Academy!
Thank you for everything, Daniel! Finding you all during the pandemic was one of my brightest moments during that time of my life and has ignited a passion for Whiskey. Best of luck moving forward.

You'll be missed, Daniel. You're the one who attracted me to this weird and magnificent RUclips channel. I've learned a lot about whisky from the perfect synergy between you, The Somm, and Rex The Mooch.
Please showcase more of the amazing people there at crowded barrel. you know the saying "its better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all" really works here. its better for us to get to know these great people and maybe eventually lose them, than to have never known them at all.
This makes complete sense. And it seems like you both are acting as great stewards to ensure the continued long-term success of both Crowded Barrel and Wizard Academy. And, Irene! And distilling collabs! What great ideas!!!
that was amazing and very powerful. i've enjoyed the ride and am looking forward to future endeavors. i know the Magnificent Bastards will choose a most suitable round table...i can't wait to see what's next
@@blairhoughton7918 Oh, he would. The exasperation is all in good fun and Daniel is just as goofy as Rex, he just hides it... i can't say better, but more.
Daniel is the reason I started a whisk(e)y journey several years ago. This whole community along with Rex and Brianna has inspired me to chase the idea of opening my own distillery one day. Currently just an idea and a dream but still learning from both channels to better paint the picture of what I want my whisk(e)y to taste and smell like. Thank you Daniel.
Hopefully Daniel will be on the odd episode of tribe. Like will it distill. And hopefully Rex will be on the odd episode of vault. Instead of a rare whisky Friday. Make it a Rex Friday.
It sounds like Rex isn't allowed to legally be involved with the Whisk(e)y Vault videos anymore. But I totally agree that it would be great to see Daniel appear on the Whisk(e)y Tribe channel as a regular guest!
@@scottbristow3370 fingers crossed. Being honest. I loved the back and forth between Rex and Daniel on the vault channel. Not sure if it will be the same with just Daniel.
I've been out of the loop for a while, and I sincerely apologize for that, but you guys have been a part of my life for several years now. Yes, Rex, I am certainly with you. As one door closes, another always opens and I am excited to see what lies ahead. Daniel, you are a great inspiration to so many - not just whiskey enthusiasts, but to business-minded people and even guys like myself who just enjoy watching knowledgeable folks speak bout their passions. I don't even drink, I just love learning about different things and watching you guys nerd out has taught me so much. I wish you the best, bro. A talent like yours has to breathe, it has to evolve, and I think this movement will help you to do that. Spread those wings, good sir. Much love to you both.
Daniel - I’ve learned so much from you over the years whether it was part of this collaboration or on your own. Rex may have adopted the eagle as his totem, but I look forward to watching you and the Wizard Academy soar in the future.
Rex, I'm with you and whomever else it may be that makes up the Crowded Barrel team, either until I depart this earth you guys close up shop. To Daniel - it was an absolute joy to see you and your collaborators build this wild and crazy thing, and I fully take to heart your approach to treating this endeavor as something that should be marked by welcoming enthusiasm and not elitism. It was a real pleasure to meet you in person a couple years ago and I feel honored and tickled that I got to be a small part of what you're doing by making the Silly Goose drawings - the bottle still makes me smile every time I see it sitting in my liquor cabinet. Thanks for not only everything you did, but the integrity with which you did it. Slàinte Mhaith!
All the best Daniel. Thanks for everything you’ve done in the tribe. And hell yes, introduce the rest of the team. Sure we miss Emma, Fancy Dan & Deb, but I couldn’t be happier that they are off pursuing new and exciting challenges, it’s been a huge privilege watching them grow and develop alongside The Crowded Barrel. Let’s see where the next generation go to. We’re all in it for the journey.
I still tell anyone who will listen that “the best whiskey is the whiskey you like, however you like to drink it.” - Daniel. I send all my friends to WT to see how to make this very complex topic - often snooty, exclusive, elitist, and judgmental - accessible and fun for everyone. Thank you guys! I’ve learned so much from you.
Stoked to learn the you’ll be joining forces with Irene. She is an amazing lady, tremendous talent who will bring Crowded Barrel some amazing products. Congratulations!
Also highlight the people who have left! Bring them back on an episode and show off what they have done and accomplished since leaving. It only looks non mutual when there is radio silence.
I think it also makes a lot of sense as we have already seen the Master-Apprentice dynamic move from Danial-Rex to Rex-Bri. The format of a knowledgeable person exploring the whiskey world with an enthusiastic amateur lost some of it's utility as Rex gained knowledge and experience. Bri is the perfect new student, and Rex has stepped up to be teacher. It's also fun to watch Rex to somewhat mellow out and play the Straight man in the Straight Man\Funny Man comedic dynamic, whoever, in this case the Funny Man role is filled by a Funny Girl.
Many of us are on the journey with Crowded Barrel, The Tribe, The Som, and The Mooch. You guys have taught and shared so much. Thank you. This is the end of a chapter, not the book. I love seeing new faces and stories. And when someone gets to grow, and take the next step in their careers and lives, that is a time to be celebrated. Y’all are giving so many that opportunity. In this way, the nerds are taking the collective knowledge, talent, and love and spreading it further when they take the next step. The butterfly effect. And maybe, that face that’s passing through, can turn us on to something new in their next chapter as well. Updates when possible on those going, where are they going, what will they be doing, skills and knowledge attained from CB that prepared them for what’s next… ❤ To both of you MB’s, the Tribe, and all, much love and luck in whatever comes next.
Not gonna lie, this was a wee emotional. Daniel, thanks for all the years of knowledge and shenanigans. Good luck as Chancellor. May Châd always guide you.
Thank you for the laughs and education over the years. You’re a great team. Many others talk whiskey but for some reason I kept tuning into whiskey vault. For the record I’m still with you. Until next time Daniel.
It's sad, I will miss the Whiskey Vault as a place for reviews of Whiskey. When I first started my journey into Whiskey in March of 2020, I relied on you guys to help me understand what I was experiencing and journey into new and exciting whiskey. I'm glad it isn't that you guys are stopping everything, but there is definitely some sadness here. I am 115 bottles into my collection now, and I wouldn't have gotten here if not for Rex and Daniel in the Whiskey Vault and Whiskey Tribe reviewing whiskey. Thank you both for the journey.
I also started my whiskey adventure several years ago after winning some whiskeys at a raffle. My first video was your 10 whiskeys for beginners. I’ve found numerous whiskey U tubers since but I always come back to you guys. I never buy a bottle of Scotch unless I check your review first. Something wonderful ruined by the IRS! Good Luck. I will always raise a dram to you !
I discovered the Whiskey Vault in it's early days while I was also starting my whiskey journey. Daniel, you will be missed but I applaud you for all you've contributed and all you will continue to do for Wizard Academy. The introduction of Rex and the shenanigans that followed along with the Whiskey Vault are all parts of an incredible story of growth. Rex, you've had your own tough decisions to make. I thank you both for your openness about the situation. Rex, I understand your reservation about introducing people that may move on to bigger and better opportunities. I would encourage you both to keep forging ahead. The journey has been amazing so far but it is so far from over. Keep up the great work!
@@bdr518I concur. I work for a very successful, albeit regional, entertainment production company. Most people think our number 2 is the company owner. I once asked the big guy about that (I’ve known him since childhood). He said “you know, I probably pay him more than I pay myself because without him this business wouldn’t be here.” Running a successful business isn’t just about the job, it’s about whom you hire to do the job. Good employees that are treated well are the backbone of any successful enterprise.
This channel and you two are what started my whiskey journey.. it's always sad to see people who've opened your eyes to something you enjoy move on.. but life is about growing and whiskey is usually about aging and you're doing both.. I appreciate everything you guys do and look forward to what this new path brings!
It's not so much that people are leaving, it's that they are growing and leaving the nest and the new people are part of the growing family that you have created. Cheers to everyone.
You guys are truly the best. I have never been a huge whiskey drinker before watching you guys, but for the last couple years of watching your videos I have learned to appreciate the art, science, and community of whiskey. Although it is sad to see the separation, I stand with this group and community no matter what the future holds. 😊
Im gonna have to give credit to the party that made me aware of this part of the internet. The Modern Rogue's visit to the Wizard's Academy to learn about Whiskey. Those collabs have cemented a lasting bond and overlap of the people watching this, and the viewers of the Modern Rogues.
All good things come to an end but when one door closes another one opens. Your honestly, transparency a love filled hearts is admirable and ALL companies should strive for this. All people should strive for this. You guys are the best and we are with you! Much love from South Australia!
Well dang, this is gonna be weird but I guess let's see how it all shakes out. On the Whiskey Vault side of things, mm the stories idea is worth playing with, but should it be one person or two people on camera? Because the ability to do back-and-forth discussions was a big thing in keeping the videos lively. Cheers to Daniel!
I don't think this is the end of a road, but a turn after a dead end. You guys saved my life and I won't forget that, so thanks. You'll keep going and be stronger than ever.
He's done it. Rex has Mooched the channel, the distillery, and Irene Tan. But in all seriousness, with you both all the way. Can't wait to see what comes next!
@whiskeychicken you won the iternets best comment ever@@@
agreed@@johnwilhoite8507
🤣🤣🤣
Best comment is best!
Does anyone happen to know what happened to the tribe's FB page? I can't find it anywhere, it's like it's disappeared...
Honestly I never realised that Rex was the boss instead of Daniel, he plays the mooch so well.
Same!
Same two
Same three
agreed
You made us your friends. You stole our hearts. You drank with us. Thank you two bastards for this community. ❤
Well, that was emotional. Didn’t expect that today.
Thank you, Daniel.
Yeah. It's going to take a few weeks to adjust to this.
Totally agree.
I also agree, I just ask with those who leave for greener pastures at least say goodbye to all of us beforehand.
100% agree!
I’m not crying, you’re crying…you two will always be linked in our hearts.
Did they inspire you to make your own distillery?
Just 4 mins in and I'm floored by the origin story. Never knew how much rex and his family had to do with this. Bravo. Thank you both for getting me into whiskey.
It reminds me of an old quote from Rex’s favorite drinker Winston Churchill: “This isn’t the end. It’s not even the beginning of the end. But it may be the end of the beginning.”
Cheers, Daniel!
And here I thought that was a quote from a Twilight Zone episode.
I couldn't have said it better
Many thanks and good luck to Daniel
I could not have said it better. This got me all teary eyed for sure. Love you guys!
So many poetic words in your description of telling.
Thank you.
Hopefully he will be on the odd episode now and again
You two started my whiskey journey. Grateful you’re both going to still be creating great content.
I am a grown ass man. But here I am crying in to my Bourbon. Thank you both for an amazing journey.
I have learned so much from both of you.
Crying into your bourbon, we call that the poor mans Islay.
I can admit when I get choked up, and this one got me for sure. Lots of memories in this video.
Thank you Dan - you've been a joy to watch with the rest of the crew over the years. I know you're not "gone", but your presence will be missed.
Got chills at the end when Daniel handed the sledge hammer to Brianna and walked out.
Did you notice he didn't shut the door behind him? They left a good pause at the end where he could have came back and closed the door.
I took it as it being open for him to come back in if ever he can.
I swear I teared up when Rex hand him the hammer.
@@leeknowlton7303 They didn't finish the toast.
ARE YOU INSANE? BANANA + HAMMER? WHAT HAVE YOU DOOOOONE? 😂
I think they will read everyone's comments and appreciate them. What an amazing community.
Damn, Daniel.
Thank you for the years of amazing education, the laughs, stories, quotes, and so, so many whiffs with the garbage can.
A toast, to a wise old wizard, may his glass never empty, and his heart remain full.
Cheers, you truly Magnificent Bastard
See you in the Vault
I’m not crying, you’re crying! 🎉 Thanks for all y’all did. Excited for what’s to come!
Hey! That's what I was gonna say! lol.
I raise my glass to both of you. And to Daniel, all I can say is "may you drink with us, friend"
This is lovely!
Much love! -Sterling
I'm just relieved neither one is completely disappearing from the internet and we'll still see each from time to time
Literally chills at the ending. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.
Now that earworm is in my head again.
The two of you have been around since the start of my entire whiskey journey six years ago, and were the reason for the first thing in had in common with my now father in law. I will always watch your new videos and will forever support however I am able to. Thank you Daniel, for everything you have done and good luck with everything you will do.
I'm sad. The two of them playing off each other is what made the vault. I hope everything works out.
“I don’t chase unicorns, I make them” Irene 😂🔥
Irene has joined the battle!!! Que SSB music
Your vibe attracts your tribe Rex, show those getting ready to launch; and do it proudly.
I’m a 35 year old man, and that ending made me cry. May you drink with us.
Beautifully written and edited episode, Rex. Thank you.
I’m with you…but more importantly…. Thank you, Daniel. It’s unbelievable what you’ve done for the community over the years. Thank you.
Totally agree
that was amazing and very powerful. i've enjoyed the ride and am looking forward to future endeavors. i know the Magnificent Bastards will choose a most suitable round table...i can't wait to see what's next
Wow, I had no idea. I 100% had it in my head that the business relationship between Daniel and Rex was the exact opposite of what it actually is 🤯.
Yep. I always thought Daniel was the boss.
Same.
You thought Daniel would keep Rex around if he had power over him?
same
@@blairhoughton7918 Oh, he would.
@@scottbristow3370 Perhaps if it was a video with people from other distilleries Rex could take part, as it wouldn't be promoting just his buisness.
@@GAS180.Maybe Daniel can get someone from the school to give it a similar dynamic.
@@GAS180.Completely agree. It was the mix between them that made it great. Hope I'm wrong...
Totally agree - seems like a great personality and an incredible skillset to have onboard!
Please pay Bri however much she wants to keep her. Her reaction keeps a smile on all our faces
Keep the Bri at all costs!
Amazing woman! Allways make me smile and laugh when I watch her on here.
The gimmick has worn off for a while now
That was very emotional... Didn't expect this journey to end... Daniel, you will be missed buddy...
Updates when possible on those going, where are they going, what will they be doing, skills and knowledge attained from CB that prepared them for what’s next… ❤
To both of you MB’s, the Tribe, and all, much love and luck in whatever comes next.
I always thought Daniel was the boss not the other way around
Me too!
That is exactly what a truly successful entrepreneur does.
Daniel is the Boss. But Rex was the employer ;)
@@bdr518I concur. I work for a very successful, albeit regional, entertainment production company. Most people think our number 2 is the company owner. I once asked the big guy about that (I’ve known him since childhood). He said “you know, I probably pay him more than I pay myself because without him this business wouldn’t be here.”
Running a successful business isn’t just about the job, it’s about whom you hire to do the job.
