I enjoy this guy, you to randy obviously that's why I keep coming back but he sounds like he actually appreciates what distilleries are doing and called that Frey ranch being a four grain! Love seeing some of these old videos giving me info/insight on things I do not know being about a year into my whiskey experience! Thank you!!
More Saga!! Love that juice...also quite interested in Frey Ranch (never tried so next trip to Texas gotta get some) and...those Prideful Goat variations sound quite intriguing.
Nice show! I’m in California and Frey Ranch is all over in our stores! The standard and the uncut cask strength are really nice! Haven’t had any Penelope yet, Jack Daniels Special Releases are great and I’m buying any I see! Russell’s single barrels and the Rickhouse are some of my favorites! Sagamore Spirits are all awesome! Can’t comment on the Prideful Goat yet, I’m supposed to get my 6yr rye and rum finished rye today and I’m waiting by the mail box:)!!! Cheers!
Thanks so much! Welcome to the bourbon world. If you have Facebook, come join our community: facebook.com/groups/bourbonrealtalkcommunity. You can ask questions and get advice without fear of whiskey trolls.
Frey Ranch is readily available in California, where I live. Their bourbon and rye are great. The next time I visit relatives in northern California, I'll see if I can take a side trip to the distillery, where they will hopefully have some special releases. Sagamore is also a favorite of mine. Small quantities of their own distillate have come out in the last couple years as a bottled-in-bond release. This isn't easy to find, but I got lucky and stumbled onto a bottle. I can confirm that it is just as good as the contract distilled stuff, and I think they have a bright future as they switch over to their own distillate. Prideful Goat is good too - the cask strength rye is in my collection. It's a very nice bottle of firewater that has enough flavor to balance out the burn. Jack Daniel's has been strong lately, but unfortunately, many of their special releases are unobtainable. Also, I have to agree with your guest - pick up a bottle of Craigellachie. It is an old school, flavorful single malt with a bit of funk to it. It has a lot more character than most of the big brands that are found in every bar and restaurant.
What a collection! I’ve been really curious about the Prideful Goat releases but they’re a little steep when considering that I would also need it to be shipped. I sure appreciate any attempt to get out something under $50.
Definitely need to try the Penelope Rio and need to pick up that Prideful Goat 8 Year. I’ve heard great things about both. Thanks for the info and consistently great content!
Love the Frey Ranch brand. Tried both the yellow and black label bottles. Both very grain forward with amazing depth. I prefer yellow lower proof over the black uncut at 122 proof that requires at least 2 big ice cubes. Thanks Randy for all your hard work.
There are a few distilleries that have my interest peaked this year. 1. New Riff 2. Leopold Bros. 3. Frey Ranch Of course, Jack Daniels will always be on my list!
I’m very excited to try Frey Ranch. I’ve heard so many good things about them. And still trying to track down a bottle of Thirteenth Colony. Would love to see what the hype is about
Always watching what Jack will come out with next. Randy, how do you pick which bottle you are going to drink when not doing a show. I’d have a hard time picking with that many options.
I’m going to try and be very cautious with my spending this year. Gonna try to buy very minimal new bottles this year. Gonna try and work through my own collection. Cheers
I'm most excited to try the 13DO. I'm literally driving home with a Sagamore store pick right now. And I've really been wanting to try Frey Ranch. My local store has a cask strength farm cut that I keep passing on. I should just get it.
Would love to try the Frey Ranch and 13 colony Beside those the Jack Daniel and Russell rickhouse because that one is out of price range. Love the video
Looking forward to finding a bottle of the 13th Colony DO on their next release to see what the hype is all about. Also excited to try a Frey Ranch offering for the first time.
Great Video! Love the content and keep it up. I'm curious to see what all the hype is on the 13th colony.. refuse to pay the ridiculous secondary prices on it but would love to eventually try it!
Great video!! I have a sagamore pick thanks to you and love it, and have also sampled some Prideful Goat and thought it was great! Have not had the pleasure of trying the others.
I just saw my first bottle of Prideful Goat in the wild last week and grabbed one. Ill be cracking it this week when Im off shift and enjoying the breaking warm weather here in NKY. Hope to get a chance at trying these 7! I've been searching for a JD 10 & 12 for some time and there is no Frey Ranch in my area as of yet. Im curious what all the hype is about with the 13th Colony Double Oaked.
I have a free Prideful Goat tasting at Merchant's Club in New Port Wed at 5:30 and a second one at Justin's House of Bourbon Thursday at 4:00-6:00 if you want to come by for a drink in person.
@@BourbonRealTalkoh nice! I didn’t even know those places existed! I’m back on shift Wednesday unfortunately so I’ll miss you there and that’s right down the road from me
The goat scream in your commercial makes me laugh every time. Thanks for the heads up on the other whiskeys. Really looking forward to the Sagamore stuff.
100% agree with regard to 13th Colony. I've only had their small batch, but it has the same labeling issues - and they don't even openly claim to distill their own vodka, meaning that is almost certainly sourced, too. But here's the thing - I rather like their small batch bourbon. It's reasonably good stuff. It is young and has a simple (butterscotch + high-rye) nose and palate, but it doesn't taste "crafty" to me. It is similar to MGP's 36% "high-rye" bourbon - similar to regular George Remus, I think, and I'm going to assume that's what it is until I learn differently. I cannot fathom why 13th Colony would shy away from naming their source and emphasizing the effect of Americus' atmosphere on the final aging leg of the bourbon's life. Or they can tout their blending skills, which clearly are solid. The product speaks for itself and the controversy hurts them more than the free publicity it generates helps them, IMO.
Love to be able to tries anything you showcase. Quick question, new to the bourbon/whiskey game. What would you or your followers consider a reasonable collection number without over doing it to be considered hoarding? I know this said number may be different for anyone’s individual circumstance, just curious to hear people’s thoughts. Thanks. ❤
I’m looking forward to getting some new Prideful Goat as the other stuff has been really good. As far as Jack Daniel’s stuff, the mark up here in Southern California is insane so I won’t even look or hunt for it. I’ll just stick to their standard single barrel stuff.
Hey Randy, I’m going to be putting my house on the market in Houston in a few months. Eyeballing some new construction homes in the south suburbs. I’ll be contacting you in a few months for assistance with everything.

Very nice addition with someone who loves and is part of the industry!!
Can never go wrong with Sagamore. Its been my go to bourbon friendly rye for a bit now.
Great episode & insight; enjoyed Scott’s input. Good addition to your program!
Thanks so much!
Awesome list very excited for a bunch of these lines. I think my favorite is probably Sagamore…really excited to try their own stuff.
More Saga!! Love that juice...also quite interested in Frey Ranch (never tried so next trip to Texas gotta get some) and...those Prideful Goat variations sound quite intriguing.
Another great video. Big fan of Sagamore, Prideful Goat, and Penelope. Another one i'm excited for is Ben Holladay.
Nice show! I’m in California and Frey Ranch is all over in our stores! The standard and the uncut cask strength are really nice! Nice to see some of the other guests and their input.
We love having our guests join in!
love the bottles and being a native Nevadan I love Frey Ranch and hope they continue to grow.
I was not aware of the controversy around 13th colony. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, thanks for being here!
Definitely need to try the Penelope Rio and need to pick up that Prideful Goat 8 Year. I’ve heard great things about both. Thanks for the info and consistently great content!
Really want to try the 13th colony and the Frey. Love what Jack Daniels has been doing the last few years, it's my favorite on your list.
Only tried the Jack single barrel barrel proof rye and Frey Ranch out of the lot. Love both of them, amazing pours. Thanks for the content!
Exciting brands and hopefully really big things ahead this year for all of them-especially The Prideful Goat! Loved the commercial
Thanks so much!
Even with all the controversy around 13th colony, I am still in love with both batches of the double oak

3. Frey Ranch
Of course, Jack Daniels will always be on my list!
I just had my first pour of single rickhouse last weekend and man that has to be one of the best bourbons I have ever tried!!!
I'm so torn. I love all those brands. I have not tried the JD 10 or 12 or Russell's Rickhouse. Great video.
Hillock in NY also malts their barley- saw it on tour
How about that Double Oaked Rye?
I agree on the Frey ranch it's fantastic.
Glad that Frey Ranch and Penelope are easy to get in my area. Still on the hunt for JD 10yr, and RR single rickouse.
Was able to find a dusty 2019 Batch 1 Sagamore Port that's 🤌🔥. Amazing sample pack 👏🤟
Thanks for the episode. I have heard the chatter about 13th Colony, buts still need to try it one day.
Thanks for watching!
I’m very excited to try Frey Ranch. I’ve heard so many good things about them. And still trying to track down a bottle of Thirteenth Colony. Would love to see what the hype is about
Frey has been my big surprise of 2023. Uncut unfiltered does not drink hot like a typical 122 proof. Love it!
Great show fellas. The addition of Scott was a perfect fit.
Thanks so much!
Always watching what Jack will come out with next.
Randy, how do you pick which bottle you are going to drink when not doing a show. I’d have a hard time picking with that many options.
Frey Ranch is one of the few bottles I continue to go back to time and time again. Their single barrels and ryes are also fantastic.
I haven’t tried all but my favorite is easily the rickhouse. I am also super curious about the Jack Daniels 12 year.
Tough option to choose if there were to be just one, all great options and nice to highlight legacy and newer distillers in the video.
Thanks, Randy. Always love catching up on BRT videos. I have a couple bottles of the Valencia but haven't yet tried the others.
Thanks so much for watching!
Hillrock in New York malts their own barley. They also grow their own barley, rye and corn.
Enhoying the Penelope Rose'. One of my new favs
I’m going to try and be very cautious with my spending this year. Gonna try to buy very minimal new bottles this year. Gonna try and work through my own collection. Cheers

Big fan of the JD 12 yr, Russel's and Penelope. Some great bottles to keep an eye out for.
Looking forward to looking some of each of those! Haven’t had any yet but keeping my eyes out for them.
Great video! I haven’t had those! I did order the prideful goat 8yr but Seelbachs is saying they don’t have the bottles, so 🤞🏼 they get them! Cheers!
Thank you so much! They're working on restocking. Stay tuned.
Great Video! Love the content and keep it up. I'm curious to see what all the hype is on the 13th colony.. refuse to pay the ridiculous secondary prices on it but would love to eventually try it!
Thanks so much for being here! Hopefully you get to check it out one day, without spending an arm and a leg.
Great video!! I have a sagamore pick thanks to you and love it, and have also sampled some Prideful Goat and thought it was great! Have not had the pleasure of trying the others.
Thanks so much!
I love Penelope and Prideful Goat! Can't wait to see what's in store.
Cheers!
Frey Ranch's process sounds really cool! Excited about TPG's new releases this year too!
Been looking to try the Sagamore and the Frey for sure.
Let us know what you think when you try them.
I have been meaning to try Frey Ranch! I’ll have to give it a try
Let me know what you think when you do!
The frey ranch us quite good. Id love to sample the JD. Still looking for a JD SBBP Rye. If i ever find it, it will be a great day.
Have yet to try anything from Frey ranch, however everyone says great things.

Hey man. Really enjoy your show. Thanks for the time and effort you put into it.
Thanks so much for being here!
Nice collection there I am also excited about JD!
You put out some great bottles for this one. You both brought some good insights into this video.
Thanks so much for watching!

Digging the JD 10 from 2024. Definitely want to give that Prideful Goat 8yr Rye a try, I've heard great things about it.
Thanks! Let me know what you think if you get the chance to try it.
Sagamore is great. Love that Double Oak.
Truly enjoy your show, and really want prideful goat in upstate ny...lol
Thanks so much - we're working on it!
I haven’t tried a single one of these bottles but have had several of their other bottles.
I would love to try 13th colony and of corse for Prideful Goat sounds interesting
Hope you get to try them one of these days!
I think Frey Ranch, but my wife really enjoys Russell's, heck I'm excited for all new whiskey!
