That wasn't a fish. His lure was hitting bottom and dragging. That is why the rod was bouncing. If he had a fish it would be bent solid.

Can you take the Hewe’s Redfish boat out to the Skyway bridge for grouper and large mangrove snapper, and be comfortable? I’m wanting something to be versatile for inshore/flats but economically friendly as well. I don’t do the deep sea fishing, so that’s out.
Best boat I ever fun is my buddies boat.
So if I put a 50hp outboard on a kayak I can take a couple friends 25 miles offshore in a 6ft seas?

Short answer, yes.
I bought 19' Trophy pro CC. Can pretty much go anywhere except offshore. I can go to smaller lakes or large lakes and intercoastal or in shore fishing. The boat could probably go off shore with a more experienced boater but I'm not ready for that yet.
We run trophy 1703cc and take them 10 miles offshore. Your boat has scuppers and an enclosed transom. Your good buddy. But wouldn’t go past 10 miles. We are in NJ AREA.
I just got a 20 foot bluewater key West walk around. What's the most you take that sucker out in? And how far?
No walkarounds? Lot of people like those and surprisingly the closet think you have is dual console bow riders.
You want a boat that can do everything from shallows to deep sea offshore, with twin power and enough payload capacity for 5 plus people and gear and still be able to tow it with your SUV?

Cost kind of dictates category. Affordability. Pay check to pay check guys are going to craigslist to find a good pre owned boat. No way we can or would buy a boat that cost more than our truck or house for that matter.
