This is my first time watching your lesson. I like it a lot because you make it so simple and the way how you explain while you are painting....it becomes alive. I always love watercolor because it moves all the time. I will try...and am sure I will enjoy it! just like you do. THANK U.
Thanks, Shayda. This was a great tutorial. I didn't have the pens so used water color pencils and it worked really well. I live in Australia so was great to be able to draw the flowers I see around me. I'm a newbie but it still turned out okay!
I like watching all your tutorials. Thank you Shayda. I love how you explain all your tips and your voice is so calming. The way you encourage people not to be afraid of making mistakes when drawing or drawing really inspired me.
I'm a beginner to watercolors and I'm trying to figure out what I can but to make it easy for me until I get used to it. These pens look perfect for that! You're so inspirational Shayda, Thank you!
These watercolor brush pens look to work beautifully! I also know it’s the great artist doing them too. But the ones I have don’t budge w/a brush and water after even the lightest stroke on the paper. So I’m going to pick these up. The flowers demoed here are just beautiful!
Dear Shayda. Thank you so much for such a wonderful video. Just picked up these watercolour brush pens via Amazon. Been eyeing these since you did that first video using them. With the GenCrafts promo code and the Amazon special, it made these pens so affordable. I greatly appreciate all your efforts to make art and watercolor fun and accessible to everyone. Big hugs from BC Canada.
Best video yet as I live in FL. I would like to create these flowers with just brushstrokes and water. I would think the pens take a bit of getting used to. But it is amazing how detailed the hibiscus is.
I just loved the flowers! And the pens are wonderful. I'm the type to go over and over on a painting to get the details right and.... Yeah that's kinda my problem. These pens I think will be perfect for me.
Thank you for this video! I’m excited to have found your channel. I’m a new subscriber and new to watercolor. I ordered the pens and some watercolor paper and I’m excited to play around with them.
I have found with these pens that the longer you wait to render them with water the harder it is to get rid of the brush lines. So I usually render them almost immediately after laying down the colour...it of course depends on the effect you want
If you struggle with marker lines, try Bristol smooth cardstock. Many designers in the stamping and card making world use it and swear it’s the best for watercolour markers of any brand.
Yeah another video...and it was awesome as usual...love, love, love it...have a great day Shayda, your part of my day almost everyday....thank you for all your hard work in these videos and taking time out of your life to share and help your viewer....
Awesome! You uploaded tropical flowers on my birthday (today). I love all things tropical (except where I live which is FL lol). Beautiful work, as always. Thank you.
This was wonderful! And those pens seem to work pretty good:) thank you for sharing these videos. They are very helpful. For those who have trouble with their watercolor brush pens not blending out with water, some pens seem to not move around well after they dry so if you work quickly, and go in with water right after putting them down they will blend out better. I have a cheaper set of these that look identical to the ones in the video but are white. They are the Mozart watercolor pens and they require you to wet them almost immediately. I nearly ruined a watercolor painting of mine by using them to go in to add some more detail and they left the marker like lines because i waited too long to go in with more water. It definitely helps to have good paper like she says in the video. As my other brush pens did the same until i used them on better paper. But these Mozart ones are a real pain no matter the paper.lol
I love when you do these sets of botanicals, Shayda. I find myself going back to them over and over as I try a couple of them and then want to keep practicing but need a bit of change to keep from getting bored. Thank you so much for offering a selection and I particular love these tropical flowers although they will take considerably more practice. 😉
I have the exact same pens but I am struggling to get the paint to render as well as you did. It seems to dry very quickly. Do you have any suggestions? Is there a particular type of paper you use? I am using a basic cold press paper. Thanks 🙏
Hi Shayda! Thank you again for all your lovely videos. Is Canson brand considered a “proper” watercolor paper? I thought watching videos and with my very limited experience that it was one of the lower end papers… The reason I ask is I still cannot get these pens to work the way that they look in your videos. I’m using Arches cold pressed watercolor paper and it still will not render the pen out properly. Thx! ❤️ **Update!** I got some very expensive Arches cold press paper and the pens still would not render out the way they do in your video. Then I got to thinking my brush is awfully flimsy. Maybe I don’t have a stiff enough brush... because it looks like you were almost scrubbing that paint pen to get it to render. Do you think it could be that?... because even when I’m using the pens they seem like they’re kind of dried out! They’re brand new but they’re acting like old Crayola kids pens that are all dried out… I don’t know ...I’m thinking of returning them ...very very sad😞...
Love your floral videos Shayda. Can you tell me what are the brands of the black brushes you are using ? They look like Robert Simmons brushes, but yours have a very define tip. Thanks !
Beautiful and thanks. Any chance you could do a traditional watercolour version of these? It would pair so well with your other every -flower and ever-leaf videos. Maybe one of the watercolour companies can sponsor it?
How do your brush pens hold up? Don't they fray? I've seen from others that you shouldn't use brush pens on watercolor paper, especially cold pressed, because the roughness causes them to fray. I love your video and technique, but afraid to fray my pens. Thanks.
I have a hard time painting stems and branches they look stiff an not natural. can you do a page that focuses on all flowers/berries/foliage that have lots of branches to help me practice?
Me: * Live in the southern hemisphere * Oh jesus the Heat ... Watercolor artists: Let's do Autumn leaves!! Shayda: HERE SOME TROPICAL THINGS FOR YAH! Me: OH THANK YOU BEAUTIFULL!! ♥️
The top most bright green leaf was the prettiest which she hated. I love bright colors, it's the only reason I'm trying watercolor.. this video is clearly no good.

What a great channel and video. The water on these are beautiful, and they look beautiful without water too.
Best video yet as I live in FL. I would like to create these flowers with just brushstrokes and water. I would think the pens take a bit of getting used to. But it is amazing how detailed the hibiscus is.

Super! Love the technique!

Love all of them. The hibiscus is my favorite with jasmine close behind. 🌺 Beautiful color palette.

I live in the tropics so these are all so familiar and comforting to me! Thank you for this video!

I'm interested in your pens and flowers, but I paint in acrylic. Do I need to buy different pens for acrylic flowers? Thank you 💗

I havent seen the brush pens here in south africa

Absolutely beautiful, I would love to be able to achieve something half as good as your watercolour paintings. Doubt it somehow. 🤔
You can do it! ❤️❤️
OMG I'm so glad you did a protea and birds of paradise!! I see these in my everyday life and I'm so glad you took my suggestion ❤❤❤
Yay! Glad you enjoyed 💕❤️
Another very helpful video! I’m curious about the synthetic brushes you use in this video. What are they, please?
Where can I buy this set Can’t seem to find it. Tropical edition. Great video .
Hi
Can I ask? What the paper that you us for your water color?
Hi, why not using just usual watercolors? What is the advantage of those brushpen?
I can say for sure it was to be good paper or this is just impossible I had to try 5 diff pads
Beautiful and thanks. Any chance you could do a traditional watercolour version of these? It would pair so well with your other every -flower and ever-leaf videos. Maybe one of the watercolour companies can sponsor it?

I haven't found that, but it is possible I just go through pens too quickly :P
Muito bom! Muito charmoso.
Does Hobby Lobby have watercolor brush pens?
Nice video. I didn’t know watercolor pens were “adult” art supplies. Are these archival, or are they better for practice?
They're not archival, just for fun!
Shayda Campbell - Thanks for the info!
I love using brush pens with water! I have a different brand that has a duel tip. I also don't mind one bit if your videos go "long".💖
I have a hard time painting stems and branches they look stiff an not natural. can you do a page that focuses on all flowers/berries/foliage that have lots of branches to help me practice?
Or a cherry blossom branch
I love your channel. I have just tried to purchase the pens on Amazon Australia and the code is invalid ☹️. Very disappointing
Julie Seaton the link didn’t work for me in the US either but I went onto amazon and they had a promotional price on there too.
