Before You Tube perfume videos I only had 1 perfume!!!! Imagine that!!!

Sadly I had like 5 body sprays. Now I add 10 bucks to body spray money and have 5 edp perfumes
Me too and it lasted me a couple years. I'd buy a new one when the old one was done. Wasn't even a 2nd thought and now I have almost 100 perfumes in my collection. I love all of them, but still...I have enough.
Agree 💯 I started getting irritated by reviewers that called a fragrance their holy grail only to have it in their declutter video a few months later. Or once they started getting sponsorships would look down on designer fragrances even though they weren’t paying for those niche ones they were recommending. Now I watch but have to go try fragrances first. Too many failed blind buys. Lesson learned.
Yes exactly!! There is one RUclipsr that complains constantly. What a big headache everything gives her and she's always decluttering everything. so I don't even listen to her anymore.
Every point you made is so true. I am starting to stop watching perfume videos. Or being more selective of the channels I watch. I can’t afford it and it’s way too much consumption. I am watching declutering your home, living more simply, being happy with what we already have. This is helping.

I agree! That’s why I stopped buying what RUclipsrs recommend. I will put them on a list and try the ones that sound good to me, but I’m not blind buying anymore!
i stopped buying fragrances based on influencers since only 20% are good and the hype more often not justified.

Thats what I've been working on!! Just not falling for the fomo or influence and for some reason it's working lately!
It took me a lifetime to realize I have sweet taste in aroma. I have and appreciate many other aouds, or mysterious scents, even masculine-marketed parfums but my heart lives with sweet (Amber's, fluffy ones, vanillic, 🍬)

Totally agree, especially about subjectivity and aroma chemicals. A woman sat in the seats across the isle from me on the light rail yesterday wearing about a gallon of light blue (or something very similar) and that Iso E Super was just a total assault on my senses (like I was stuck squinting my eyes and hoping I don't get a headache)...I get most people are anosmic to something. Personally I can't smell MFK gentile fluidity gold and a few other musky perfumes but can persistently smell the harsh woody aroma chemicals. They don't realize how strong some of these perfumes might be to other people...I love perfume would never tell someone they shouldn't wear perfume or anything like that but it can be uncomfortable to be around a noseblind oversprayer. There are no youtubers who have exactly the same taste as me - I always sample.
Glad you survived that assault on your senses. That's so pungent. It's in so many guys colognes too so I smell it everywhere.
I also would not tell people what to wear but as a sensitive person myself, I try to be considerate when spraying. I try to match the occasion and location I will be at. Specially when being around food. I don't want to ruin anyone's meal. I've ruined my own before lol.
All of this very much makes sense!
I don't get fomo from youtubers, but I do have it, when I see a good price and fear I may never get it again. I have many times let that price go and almost always regret it 😩. But on the good part it keeps money in my pocket
How refreshing of a point of view ! I have always thought this. Why would I listen to someone who doesn't like patchouly doesn't like florals,or gourmands? I believe you should not be reviewing something that you have an issue with. Yes you make complete sense. There is one reviewer who I won't name. but she's always complaining. Everything gives her a headache, so I stopped listening to her because it becomes kind of whiny after a while. constantly decluttering, I can't afford to do that . It's OK to change your mind, but when it becomes a constant compulsion, that makes me not want to listen to that person anymore because I don't Declutter my stuff like that . I am a new subscriber as of today. Most of us here watching don't have that type of a budget in order to buy 300- $500 fragrances. I also don't watch most of those anymore. because simply I can't afford something like that and I do not want to go over my budget.

I have now developed a sensitivity to aromachemicals and I'm slowly decluttering them out of my collection so just a heads 😅 I'm now that whine-y too 😆
I love your channel and how real you are!! I watch reviews on perfume but I only buy it if the notes are something I love. There are certain notes my nose just doesn't like. We all have the right to change our mind and love what we love even if its just for the moment. Keep doing what's best for you😍😍😍

100% agree. I personally can't stand everything Demi Rawling recommends. I don't like her Kilian recommendations and I can't stand CH Good Girl I think our tastes are polar opposite which is a shame because I like the format of her content.
I understand you! I liked Demi's recommendations till early 2020 while she was still living in Australia and didn't have such a huge niche collection. At some point when she got into super complex niche smells I realized that 9 from 10 of her recommendations I can't stand... I fall in love with Delina because of Demi and it's probably gonna be in my collection forever. ❤ I still love Demi and watch almost every single video of her but now I take her recommendations with the grain of salt

Ok but Blanch Bete really is that b*tch. Lol. That was worth the hype and I tried so hard not to contribute to the hype because of the price but it's sooo good. It changed the game for me! I'll talk more about that in the future.

We absolutely are responsible for influencing others ! Maybe not you or I particularly who don’t make any money but I still think we hit that audience that might possibly,perhaps be influenced ( if that makes sense ) I know I have definitely been influenced by some of my friends on here !! It’s crazy 😜
You really have valid and honest advice ,at the end of the day we are all responsible for our own decisions , but not everyone who listens to us or others ,think rationally and that does make me feel bad 😞 I went through the coffee stage also 🤦♀️

It takes a while to understand what we like and don’t like. I am still in the experimenting stage and trying different things to determine which notes work for me and which ones don’t. I am also finding my nose evolves and things I used to like I don’t like anymore and some things I did not like I am liking now. It’s a process. I like your advice here thank you so much for sharing.

Perfume is so complicated 🤦♀️I always thought I hated patchouli but then I fell in love with Gris dior 🤷♀️makes no sense to me LOL
It’s true we all like different smells and Can pick up different inconsistencies.
When you are starting out, its difficult and you do change your mind a lot. I find i have a good idea of what i can wear now and dont really change my mind a lot.
I'm still having to declutter perfumes I loved a couple years back and now I can't even wear them 😩 I want to get to the point where my taste is no longer evolving!

Lol 😂 love don’t be shy - I overwhelmingly smell the marshmallow. Yes I get the orange blossom but overall to my nose the marshmallow is prominent and actually does not let me enjoy the floral aspect. I think it’s because I love florals and don’t love gourmands.
Yeah that makes perfect sense! I bet my patchouli gourmands smell like all patchouli to people who dislike patchouli.

Great points. That’s how I feel about sweet vanillas and extreme gourmands. Can’t do it.
My vanillas are the opposite of yours. I have to have an earthy or other note like tobacco, amber etc.
So once I see the base notes I don’t even bother or sample first to see if it work.
My scene profiles are warm/ spicy or fresh/clean aesthetic
Extreme sweet Gourmands , sweet candy vanillas or girly florals usually won’t work for me.
Love don’t me shy was awful for me and it was so over hyped. Smelled like cough syrup.
I got caught syrup at first too. LDBS is really weird to me. Every time I smell it, it's weird. Then I wear it and actually love the whiffs I get. It's odd.
She doesn’t like vanilla woody notes/accords. Vanilla sandal wood candle to her right 👀
😆 That candle smells like sweet marshmallows to me. Kind of like Kilian Princess 🤷♀️ It's one of my favorites of all time!
But yes i do think youtbers should be much more on the responsible side and appeal to that. Not many are.

Yes!! That's why it's also important to talk about what we actually truly enjoy instead going with the hype!
Definitely gotta keep an eye on the budget and there are many I don’t watch anymore because maybe they started with more average priced perfumes and then they started getting PR (or just have much larger budgets and started to get more confident in their buying and buy really pricey ones) and now they mainly do $200 and up perfumes. There is a push for buying especially among those expensive niche only channels. I’m responsible for my own actions and so I have stopped watching the channels that constantly push “this is a must have” type attitudes. And definitely the massive over consumption (and the fact that I accepted it and started doing it myself….ugh) is shocking once you step back.
It is shocking 😲 when we add it up. The things we've normalized would be insane to non perfume people. I'm afraid to evaluate the price of my collection. Lol.
I've had to hold back on Watching very expensive channels too but that's OK. We all have our people and budgets. Oh the transition from affordable, to designer to then only niche is too real. Lol. It happens to all of us in a way.
@@CarmenScentrix it is shocking….I started to add just the tray I had out one time and quickly stopped because even just that tiny portion was crazy expensive (my collection is almost entirely under $100 a bottle and largely under $50 a bottle). I’m good with people spending how they want/can but it quickly becomes unrelatable and uninteresting because it’s just so far out of my budget and reality. Yes, you’re right that transition does happen to us all to some extent. The “cheapies” eventually many of them smelled cheap to me (not all but many) and many designer got so boring. I’ve bought a lot of middle eastern actually in the last maybe 6 months because they are cheaper usually and smell amazing (many dupes).

Lol lol lol! I got the Reminiscence Les notes Gourmand and my review was like "errr marshmallows don't smell like neroli Guimuave! This isn't gourmand it's green and flowery Heliotrope!" 😂 lol the only gourmand from that line was dragee in the white bottle, but that had the chemical in that smalls like tar to me!
The disappointment has been real! I feel our noses are so similar in that they are sooo good at picking up things!

My dad works in food and tests / grades cheese and has a good sense of smell and taste... he says I'm a super taster lol, we tend to be hyper sensitive to chemicals. So for instance I can ALWAYS taste sweetner. Can't abide zero sugar or any artificial sweetness.... how about you?! Are you one of us?! Lol....
I can taste pesticides used in strawberries, I can taste the type of fertilizer they use in tomatoes (they use a fishy one). I looked it up after tasting fishy tomatoes for a while lol.

Most influencers influence according to those filling their pockets. Influencers should influence society to be genuine, kind, and disciplined in all aspects of their lives. I’m tired of them doing the same videos or acting like they can smell the juniper berry in the mid, no you can’t just stop with that crap. You’re reading the notes as you do the review. A master perfumer can, someone who studied actual perfumery can,…not LTLG and his narcissistic sensitive ego. Just wear what you want and what you like when you want.
