    Great video... Interestingly enough when I started to get into fragrance, heck even now... I kept feeling like there's this cloud of aroma chemicals that didn't sit right with me... Many times, it had been identified as musk (especially erba pura type frags). Our noses change alot so when people are starting out in fragrance, I try to encourage them to wear their frags out! In a couple months you may not even like the fragrance anymore. I stopped buying frags out of nostalgia too because I know I won't get the same feels now that I had back in the day with my current nose... Sigh. It's a part of the journey-- haha, people hate when frag lovers say 'journey'. Great video.

    • @CarmenScentrix
      @CarmenScentrix  4 месяца назад +2

      I'm not bothered by the word "journey" because it is! You never end where you started off! Lol
      Yes! Most musks, aromachemicals and things like akialawood or benzion smell off to me. Too chemical-y. Sad because so many beautiful fragrances are ruined with them.
      I also had to stop buying nostalgic fragrances!! My nose has long changed since I loved them and it never works out! The Clavin Klein was that for me in this video. It was one I had wanted years ago.
      It's definitely a part of the journey to really hone in your favorites and I'm currently loving that. ❤️

    I was watching the other day and couldn’t comment or like. I’m like WHAAAAAAAAA?! 😭
    Yeah Nirvana Bourbon got declutterred a few videos ago and I commented how much I want it. I definitely need to get a bottle. But considering it’s getting hot now, I can’t even use it for another half a year or so. I wish I wasn’t in a tropical climate sometimes, but I’m not a snowbunny either. 😂💕
    I need to make a point to list some of the ones I have declutterred. I find that aroma chemicals get stronger over time and it leads to a perfume smelling cheap. The maceration process is supposed to deepen a perfume and make it smell more rich. However, past a certain point of maceration with perfumes released the last few years, and it’s straight up cheap chemical smells. It’s pretty annoying. I would always buy the biggest bottle too because I like to hold on to my perfumes and have variety, without worrying if something will get discontinued. Now it doesn’t seem worth it if I have to hurry and finish something quickly before certain chemical reactions take place.
    And that new D&G Devotion……. 😑 I ended up getting a travel spray instead of a large bottle like I initially wanted. So glad I did. I can’t stomach it. It smells like a lemon poundcake made with too much sugar, butter and frosting. Smelling it is making me gag and gain weight. 🤣
    I think (just my opinion) that since fragrance has gained popularity and exploded, perfumers aren’t putting as much thought into their creations anymore. They just want to churn out new releases to keep up with the demand of people wanting to smell something new and likable. It’s like keeping up with the excitement and frenzy, yet it’s pretty deflating the experience when it’s boring or the wrong/cheap materials are used. It’s kinda like the makeup community at some point. At the height there were cut creases and glitter, the slightest hint difference in the undertone of a shade of anything and we needed it. Eventually everyone got tired of trying to keep up with the latest palettes and cash grabs. But the demand started it all. I feel like we all probably need to slow down and chill out. The prices of designer perfumes are becoming outrageous, and I’m not sure if it’s because the companies are spread thin on the amount of raw materials available to go around and that’s why they have increased the amount of filler chemicals they put in. People used to have 30 perfumes and it was considered a lot. That’s like a perfume per day of the month, so you can only wear it about 12 times a year. Now having 100 is normal. That’s only going to get about 3 rotations per perfume. It’s no wonder shit has hit the fan. And why no one really has a signature scent anymore. If any Millennial or younger dies in the future, no one will be like Oh! That smell reminds me of my mom/grandma…… and start to tear up. 👀
    Ok, enough morbid ranting. Didn’t think perfume could get so deep. 😅💕

      I actually agree with this! Yes new releases were always a thing but not so much for niche. I feel like brands especially now realize that people have too many fragrances that they can't finish fast enough to repurchase, even for one bottle, then sales die down as quick as they rose. So...new releases are for excitement so people can buy and just pile it with the others at home. When really sales would push forward at a normal rate instead of spiking down rapidly after the hype, if people had less to actually use and finish so they can repurchase sooner and afford a new addition. Also, why we see perfumes hit extreme discounted websites in less than a year compared to the past. The boom has kinda died imo, because it was never sustainable like the makeup and hair community. Also, why they increase prices so they won't have too much of a loss when they sell cheaper in bulk to discount websites. Lmao it's very much that deep 😂😂 but just an observation

    Casablanca was a recent declutter for me as well. I do love the caramel/fruity/apple notes, they are delicious, but there is something in there that reminds me sort of b.o. And I noticed that in many of the Middle Eastern scents I fell for. I was under the impression that that was oud. So I've been convinced I'm not a big oud fan. Swiss Arabian Inara was the same way. Some mango scents read like that to my nose, too. I almost got rid of Kayali Vanilla, too. However, I tried it one more time as I usually do before I declutter, and it had sweetened with time and I started using it to layer, and in that process I got attached to it and love it. "Stop While You're Ahead" would be a great slogan for merch lol because it's so true. I have several scents I just adore, but I'm always curious, what if this (hypothetical) fragrance is THE BEST. Like, the ultimate best. I'm going through that with the new Caramel Cascade I think it's called. I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet because I'm trying not to, but who am I kidding, I KNOW I'M EVENTUALLY JUST GONNA DO IT!

    I feel that fragrance preferences change just like style does. I have had signature scents in the past that while I love them on other people, when I wear them I just don't like them anymore. For example, Good Girl I went through so many bottles, and now it gives me a headache. I love it on my friends.

    I am out with the cheap perfumes and in with having less and pay more for better quality 👍🍍🍊🍇 I agree some of these affordable middle eastern frags have cheap blend of ingredients. I got Zimaya Sharaf Blend as I wanted to test what the hype is about and the notes sounded good. It smells sweet generic and I also picked up lingering cologne vibe about it that is just not quite right or refined for me.

    Carmen. For the Jessica Simpson perfume, the gardenia comes out either in the heat or cool, and the caramel comes out more when the temperature goes the other way. That is what others have said on youtube.
