I love your new approach to fragrance! I only recently started getting into fragrance and it’s crazy how quickly you can collect bottles, samples, etc. so I’ve been trying different techniques to keep my collection manageable. Only buying full bottles of fragrances you’d grade 9/10 is definitely one I’m going to incorporate!

I need a friend, friends. Just spent only $125 on 15 decants+1 free and not impressed with any of them. And I have over 60 other decants waiting + 60 more full bottle loves that I’m not fully enjoying for my short-lived spring-today is 100 degrees. I need to jump off the new fragrance wheel,but still feel the pull when I watch scent content. Thank you Carmen for keeping it real and leading the healthy way forward in our individual journeys.

I love when Editing Carmen shows up and puts us on to the after thoughts and what a new perfume reminds you of. I feel like there’s a good amount of new perfumes that are taking heavy inspiration from the past and “modernizing” them or putting a twist. But not a major twist. So thank you for doing that! 🥰💕
I don't think I've ever tried Princess Eau Fraîche, I would say for me some of the eau Fraîches of their other fragrances are stronger than the original, which shocked me, but yes this doesnt seem to be a strong resemblance to the original Princess. I think you are right to return it if you arent happy.
I layer Boardwalk Delight with Green Stravaganza and it’s sooo good - spray in different spots :) Also I love my princess eau fraiche layered with Burberry Goddess for some added sweetness :)
Very insightful. I do think that the younger generation now are longing for complex and ‘darker’ scents, like the ‘everyday’ launches that I grew up with in the 80:s … deep, almost challenging perfumes with lots of backbone. I think that you crave something more than glorified body splashes, like Delina, La vie est belle, Musc for her etc
Well said! A lot of companies want to make a very mass pleasing scent but that's not that interesting anymore. My Favorite scents are very polarizing! My preteen niece likes some deep florals in some of fragrances too and I was very surprised.
Unpopular opinion…I loooove Cheirosa 59! I love vanilla orchid, candied violets and sandalwood notes, and I think this is great. I even randomly smelled it on a woman at a funeral the other day! I knew the scent immediately…& it was so pretty wafting through the breeze. It may be my favorite Sol de Janeiro of the ones I’ve smelled, tbh. We, those of us who love 59, are out here, I promise! 👋 😂 Edit to add: I also buy mostly travel size, decants & 1.0 to 1.7 oz bottles. For all the same reasons you listed. I don’t need that much of any one particular fragrance…. The larger bottles are too hard to ever empty. I have about 150 frags in my collection…& if I wear them all each year, I don’t make much of a dent in anything, so that makes a 3.4 oz bottle almost eternal.😑 No, thanks.
That's definitely where I went wrong with large bottles. Something about the small bottles did not appeal to me before. Pretty sure it was the value per ounce and also the aesthetic of the larger bottle. I guess there is a few 59 lovers out and I'm happy for you that you get to have a fragrance that suits your taste.

Yes! I have strong aversion towards manipulative sales tactics as well. "Selling out" and "limited edition" and all that, do they think we're dumb? Maybe I should make a video about it. Let me know what other sale tactics bug you.

Idk what’s going on… it’s a crazy market & a crazy influencer community right now. Ima stand back & watch, dip my toe in every now and then for a decently priced sample on my wish list and see what becomes of it all.
Hey Carmen 👋! Thanks for comparing Boardwalk Delight in the 2 forms. I only smelled Green stravaganza and Cheirosa 59 from the nozzle but I like them so far! Shocker cuz Valentino doesn't work for me usually. I think I'm slightly biased toward liking it because green is my favorite color!😅 You've got me wanting to try Strawberry Letter. Do you like Burberry her the Og? Couldn't remember if you did. I too have been doing the travel size game. Not as pretty as a bottle but way more fulfilling imo (as far as being able to experience new scents and also finish something more easily than a huge bottle). Carmen! I love your video and thoughts on the new releases! I tried Vanilla Sex about a week or so after it came out. I was on the side of town visiting a friend and that Sephora had a tester in stock. It literally smelled like sweet vomit on me. I couldn’t get home fast enough to scrub it off. Partly because it faded within an hour or two. Lucky me! 😂 But my friend thought the same and a few employees. It just smelled terrible, making me wonder who the hell would purchase this?! Lime green is my favorite color and so of course I was excited when Valentino came out with a new perfume. Until I saw the notes. And then I was worried. I tried it in Ulta and was disappointed as a first impression but I figured I would be. Then you told me you liked it (you like tea scents but for some reason I don’t care for them as much) so I’m like hmmmm I’ll go try it again. Then I got it (understood why people like it, and why you like it) and then I started liking it. 😂 (And you say you don’t want to be an influencer. 😂💕) I haven’t picked up a bottle or travel size. I’m going to try it again when the weather is MUCH hotter and see if it’s a good fit for the weather. Fragrance changes a lot on me and quite frequently. I’m still trying to figure out why. So if it does well in heat (and I’m assuming so because of the notes) I might actually get a bottle. TBD on that one. For Sol De Janeiro, this was a weird one for me. This smelled familiar but also boring, and I didn’t really like it but I kept sniffing myself and liking it a little. I was so confused with this one both times I tested it. I don’t know what to make of it. I tried a bunch of perfumes that day, so one day I’ll go back just to smell this one. I did try Sparkling Lychee. I don’t remember it too well. I think my thighs were that it was a juicy scent. But it was a while ago. I’ll have to go back to try it. Phlur’s strawberry one wasn’t available at my Sephora at the time and neither were the other ones I didn’t mention. So I guess there’s that. As for Phlur Father Figure, I was really taken aback by that one. I thought with the fig note it would be feminine, like YSL Black Opium Illicit Green. Not even close. It was very masculine. VERY! And then I thought, well it fits its name I suppose. It instantly made me think of a very strict, masculine father. I don’t want to be overbearing and say the punishing kind, but you get the idea. To me, very masculine of a perfume. I’d be curious to see how you feel about it once you smell it.
It’s about smelling good, isn’t it? People should spend the money they want to spend to smell good, $10, $100 or $1,000. My $20 outremer vanilla will always be in my collection!
I wore Princess Eau Fraiche to bed couple nights ago.. I was still smelling it on myself and in my blanket the next morning to my surprise. When my bf woke up he told me it smelt like “watermelon”. Now every time I spray it that’s all I get.. A plain watery watermelon. 😂
I noticed 1 spray lasted on my shirt through the next day as well! I enjoy the fragrance but I don't think I love it. All I get is CK but I like the smell. I kind of want to get CK1 just to compare it lol.
I’ve been curious about the Jackie perfumes the yellow one is the one I want to get my nose on. I smelled father figure a couple weeks back and it wasn’t amazing. I thought I would get the travel and walked around with it in my hand after spraying the tester on my wrist. Before I checked out I put it back. It was not memorable as in I barely remember why I didn’t like it just that it wasn’t great.

Hopefully you can get your nose on it but those phlur fragrances are super picked over in my store (I was shocked they had a bit of the tester left and a travel in stock). I did order a travel of mood ring and it’s nice! Not maybe really special but I’ll happily finish my travel this spring.
I expected the Jackie Aina's fragrance bottles to look different. Looking at them online they remind me of fragrances from 5 below. Especially the font on them. And no judgement to 5 below fragrances I have a lot of cute fragrances bottles from 5 Below. I just meant I expected the bottles to look more glamorous since Jackie is really glamourous. But I'm curious to smell them. Although it sounds like I wouldn't like them.
They look that way in person too😬 Maybe it's the way the name is in the front or something. I'm pretty sure she was trying to make them affordable and I understand that. I will definitely support her in other ways because I love Jackie ❤️
Right! There's something about a new fragrance that's exciting and I know my opinion can change after the first Impression. I had such high hopes for it and I still can't decide but I'm pretty sure it's a no.
I went to Sephora and sniffed some new perfumes before the sale too, and I did kind of a deinfluencing video where I went on the app and went through and removed a lot of stuff from my loves list and from my shopping cart and talked about everything that I had sniffed as I went. We had some of the same opinions and some different. when it came to Cheriosa 59, I had smelled it a couple of times when it had first come out, and I thought I remembered really liking it so I ordered the mini size, and when it arrived… Boy oh boy it was a huge NO and it is going back! 🙄🫤

There are always cheaper alternatives I prefere to pay less at the end of the day perfumes are only scented water

Okay that pretty much tells me what I need to know about Father Figure. We have pretty similar taste, I think.
