Why do people think all Steven universe characters will be redeemed? Likely jasper and all the diamonds will not have an arc dedicated to them where they become friends with the crystal gems

A lot of people think that because of an offhand comment made by someone regarding the fact that the series has "no real villains". They misinterpret this as meaning everyone will be on Steven's side by the end rather than what it actually means, which is that not every conflict has a good and a bad, simply a misunderstanding of two opposing forces.
The Roundtable I feel like Jasper would not be with homeworld or the Crystal Gems. Neutral , like Lapis

I don't think Blue Diamond will become a Crystal Gem, but I do think she'll be humanized and the most sympathetic towards Earth among Diamonds. None of Diamonds are gonna be shown as evil. They will try to make us sympthasizs with her as well as terrified of her. And I love her already. Such a complex character
She already is humanized and sympathetic towards Earth. That's what makes her such a unique antagonist. But she still doesn't show any desire to save it.

Homeworld Gems have no concept of gender; and even if one like Blue Diamond knows that higher organic life on Earth are divided into two genders, it's unlikely she'd know or care what that "native's is.
But gems often refer to each other as Her or She.

To be fair, in Greg's story about meeting Rose, Pearl refers to him as an "It".

Blue Diamond ordered to shatter Sapphire because she predicted wrong future/didn't see Ruby saving her/could be a rebellion and lied to BD. Ruby on the other hand killed the perspective of stopping gem war. That's a massive point to shatter 2 gems. I mean i would without a doubt. From diamond's perspective those 2 did really horrible things to their society.
She didn't order Sapphire to be shattered, just Ruby. Sapphire predicted the wrong future because of Ruby, and I think Blue Diamond understood that. And honestly I wouldn't even say Ruby ruined the chance to stop the war, because it left Rose and Pearl open from shock of the fusion, unfortunately for Homeworld it left the other gems in shock too, so going by that logic Blue Diamond should shatter all the soldiers for being off guard when their target was right in front of them.

Ruby didn't actually save Sapphire. Sapphire said 7 gems would have their forms destroyed, herself being one of them. she told Blue that she looked forward to speaking to her back on home world when her body reformed - Ruby acted carelessly, which is why blue wanted to shatter her.

How would it be a reversal of the lessons that they are teaching us about war...? Everything about Steven is based around only using violence when needed, and still seeking out a peaceful solution. Rose was a warrior, and a Gem, who in the end despite her efforts could only make war to protect what she cared about. But Steven is a human, he has a choice. He can find the solution that his mother could not. The show is clearly suggesting that there are human emotions on both sides in a conflict, even when the other side seems so inhuman. To NOT redeem the diamonds, or at least one of them, would be to suggest that there is no way enemies could ever truly reconcile, which is against the message of the show.
I believe that the diamonds WILL be redeemed. In fact, it's clear to me that while it will be difficult, Stevens deciding to not shatter them will be what starts that road. Because being able to shatter a Diamond, and then NOT, choosing peace over perpetuating the cycle, will be what shows Blue diamond that Steven is different than Rose, and that a human did something she could not. Forgive. Before that happens, of course, I imagine there's going to be one hell of a fight.

It seems as if Blue Diamond already has an affinity towards Earth and humans. She's never going to side with Crystal Gems because they murdered Pink Diamond, but why is that necessary in order for her to be redeemed? Rose Quartz started a war and committed a murder in order to achieve her ends. Neither side is an the unquestionable good guy here, and that's honestly what makes this show so great.
Blue Diamond does not need a redemption arc.

Vox, i have a 2 theories for you, and, one of then i really dig it.
1:The first theory is that Pink Diamond was the original leader of the Crystal Gems, but, she was keeped in secret, so, homeworld wouldnt start a full scale civil war. What evidence make me come to this theory? The Zoo it self, or should i said, a protected land for in danger species. I think the Zoo is just like a animal sanctuary. You can see Pink Diamond did payed attetion in human Biology and Psycology. It is very possible she would had bounded with humans at one point. Why i think that? Because her gem placement. She would have a very similar personality to Rose, Steven and even navi Ruby. Also, she was young Diamond, so, she would have more dificulty to control her emotions.
2:The second theory is going to solve the main problem with my first theory: If Pink Diamond was the leader of the Crystal Gems, why Rose would kill her? The answer: It wasant Rose, it was Yellow Diamond. In the episode, That Will Be All, you can see that YD is saying to remove all thing related to PD, included the Zoo and the Rose Quartz in the bubbles. Now, its not normal someone to be sad for someone that died 5000 years ago, but, remove all thing that is releated to the person, that is odds. Now you must be asking: Why YD would kll PD. SImple answer, she hated PD. It is very likely that PD wasant holding her emotions, since she problably was a young Diamond, and people loved her, you can see Blue Diamond did loved her, and that popularity made Yellow Diamond angry. The status quo was changeing, and she dint liked. So, YD ambushed PD, kill her and put the blame on Rose. It does explain why Yellow Diamond dint listen to logic about save Earth, instead of the Cluster. Its because she want to destroy any evidence that show her killing Pink Diamond.
Okay, a little off topic subject. I am really hoping that one day, Steven will find out something really sinister and big from Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl. Something so huge that he gets really pissed and ends up fighting someone (maybe Pearl). Now right off the bat you might think "Pearl would win easily". But depending on when this could happen, Steven could be a lot stronger and faster. Bottom line, if there was an episode where Steven POOFED one of the Crystal Gems during a fight, i would flip my shit

Steven didn't know why he was crying. He didn't feel the emotion behind it but his mom did.

No way Blue Diamond will be a crystal gem. Redeemed? Maybe, but unlikely. In an ideal scenario, I could see blue coming to understand the value of humans and her past mistakes, and beginning to try to rebuild gem society after some sort of devastation. It seems most likely to me that yellow will destroy herself in her grief and rage, but blue might be there to pick up the pieces and try to be something better for her people. This is the best case scenario I see for her, anyway. I think she might let her grief overcome her, though.

I always find it interesting that whenever the gems refer to Pink Diamond, they never have any ill will toward her in their speech. Its mostly sorrow for some reason that I believe goes deeper than Rose making a decision that contradicted her beliefs to liberate the Earth. Its just a thought, but its something to think about.
The way I look at it, Blue Diamond was looking forward to the war ending and crushing the rebellion that shattered Pink. So when Ruby fused with Sapphire and completely threw off the plan, she saw it as Ruby preventing the war from ending. So I understand her wanting to shatter Ruby. If your sibling was killed and you were so close to getting their killer arrested, and some nobody came up and prevented it, you would be angry as well. That combined with how cheap rubies are (even Ruby was like "There's TONS of me."meant the fitting punishment to her was shattering.

The Diamonds are all showings different types of grief for Pink Diamond.
Blue Diamond can't stop grieving and can't move on. Yellow Diamond hasn't allowed herself to mourn and had shut out her emotions. Maybe White Diamond has isolated herself from everyone as her way of grieving.
I don't think she'd be redeemed, but I would not complain if she was.
To me, personally, I think Blue Diamond may be redeemed. Believe it or not, I think there is some good inside her.

Well, diamonds probably have an eternal life, so she have all the time she need to change if it happens, and I don't understand why (if it happens) someone that changes her mind and start trying her best to compensate hat she've done would not be redeemable, no matter what the person who used to be in her body did before. It depends on how much she changed.
I'm pretty sure Blue Diamond would've killed all of the Crystal Gems if she had seen then. Let's not forget that she didn't care if all the humans on Earth would have been killed by the Cluster.
I don't agree with that Garnet fiasco. I think she was just mad that Rose - the one who destroyed her beloved sister (I view Pink as a sister to Blue) didn't get shattered like it was forseen by Sapphire. Because it was after Pink Diamond's shattering, I think that emotions had just got the better of her and because of it she's been seeking revange and our Ruby just took that satisfaction from her.
I'm not telling it's good, but I can understand her.

I never really saw a BD redemption, I mean c'mon she lost her sister and now her people are going through a resource crisis. It just seems unrealistic to turn on her own and potentially have her people crippled and another sister gone.

also though, the reason she wanted to shatter ruby wasn't just because ruby fused with sapphire (though that did play a part in it), but because Ruby changed the future and inadvertently caused the rebellion to continue. If you remember, Sapphire said that the rebellion would end there. Blue Diamond was expect justice to be brought to the ones who murdered her sister, and Ruby fucked that up for her. So her anger towards ruby makes more sense than "oops, accidental fusion"

well yeah I doubt that, the diamonds are rulers with a different perspective idk if they could be considered evil because technically the crystal gems are viewed as the bad guys/rebels but every story needs a conflict and it's two sided in this case

Of course she acts nasty when she suspects Sapphire, wouldn't anyone act nasty if they think they're being lied to? Not to mention Yellow Diamond and Polly-Blue-Agate (Idk how to spell her name) where in the room too, she needs to keep up face, she is a diamond after all. With other gems like Peridot thinking thinks like "a perfectly flawless being" and "they are objectively better than us" they can't show any signs of fear or sadness or anything.

I don't expect any of the diamonds to be redeemed. I think there's a chance of Steven empathizing with them and it causing them to finally put their troubles about Pink to rest and stop wanting to destroy the Earth, and maybe they'll understand how gems want to be their own beings. Buuut.... I don't think under any circumstances will they align with the gems unless it's against a common enemy, and even then it'll be a temporary alliance.

I feel like It's not too obvious but still somewhat obvious she won't be redeemed because right when it was most likely, her tone switched. She turned from sorrow to short and very angered as soon as holly started introducing sapphire. It lined it all up but then it switched. People forget the scene where she goes "what EARTH Mission?" She became very threatening and her redemption is almost less

It's not often I disagree with you Vox, but I have to say I disagree with this one. I don't think Blue is a cold, ruthless leader. As harsh as it was to order Ruby to be shattered for fusing, you have to consider what fusing represented in gem society. Some think it's a parallel to same-sex relationships and how they've been perceived in the last 100 years or so, while others think it's a parallel to "interracial" relationships, and things of that nature. But I think that fusion represented a blatant loss of power and loss of control , in a direct line of sight of a Diamond Authority. Garnet might as well represented a rebel flag being thrown in BD's face. Of course she had to respond to this act of defiance with swift aggression and intolerance. Gems aren't allowed to fuse without explicit permission, and only gems of the same kind will be granted that permission.
If BD didn't respond with extreme punishment, what message would that send to her court? Her followers? That she's weak? Benevolent to a fault? Ripe for being taken advantage of?
Furthermore, I don't think BD is a cruel, ruthless gem. She may seem cold and distant, but it's no stretch of the imagination to say she's quiet, introverted, strict, and very blunt. And like you said, if Garnet's flashback happened after PD was shattered, it's entirely possible that BD was overwhelmingly angry, but tried her best not to show it until Ruby/Sapphire fused.
OpalBestWaifu I also think that Blue Diamond's anger came from the fact that Ruby changed the future that Sapphire (which was basically the end of the war).

Perhaps blue diamond will have some moments when she will be sympathetic and understanding but not completely on the crystal gems side . For example: blue might try to convince yellow not to use the cluster but would still help in any scheme yellow has planned. Plus just because blue diamond is the most sensitive one doesn't make her all good.
Thank you for this video, I'm so over people thinking everyone is getting a redemption arc. The Diamonds will never see Steven's point of view, they won't stop colonizing planets, he will have to defeat them.
I really don't think Blue Diamond is this stone cold bitch that people are still trying to think of as her "true character". Remember, The Answer took place right after Pink Diamond's shatter.
BD still had fresh wounds, and on top of losing her own little sister to a murderer ( in her perspective ) she had to take on her responsibilities. So, when she saw Ruby fusing with Sapphire, its easy to understand that she didn't see it as an just a little accident. She saw it as pure insubordination. The same way Rose Quartz, PD's killer, was insubordinate and treasonous. Either that, or her negative feelings and paranoia were running high and Ruby just happened to be the first to press her button, even if it was by mistake. All of this pressure, stress, and grief was clearly affecting her personality and is most likely not the proper representation of how she usually is.
They writers of the show wouldn't just have all the Diamonds be the same in personality, that'd be too predictable and boring. BD is distinct from YD. She may be cutthroat when she's upset, but not to the same extent that YD is and not even for the same motivations.
And no this doesn't justify her wanting to shatter Ruby, not entirely, but she isn't an vicious dictator for the sake of being vicious, she had her own personal reasons to act a certain way.
Yes, the Diamonds are shown to be heavily misguided and ignorant when it comes to humans, but they clearly aren't without empathy. Just like the rest of Gemkind, especially on Homeworld, they know little about how humans work, how they think and feel. Rose was the same way, but she learned eventually.
I'm not sure if they will get "redeemed" or not, but I think they will grow as characters in their own right. They don't all have to join the Crystal Gems in order to have some kind of revelation. Hell, I think BD was having revelations of her own, even if they were small.

And Beerus is sort of Goku's ally. So if Goku has done it, I see no reason Steven couldn't do it.

I think it may be that the Diamonds have never encountered life that they thought of as intelligent. They've encountered organic life before, but since they themselves are not organic what would make them think that organic life could be intelligent? Maybe they assume that organic=nonsentient and the Crystal Gems were the first gems to realize otherwise, thus why earth was the first planet to trigger a war among the gems.
I like the idea that Pink Diamond was helping the Rebellion in secret then had Rose quartz help her fake her death so she could be just as free as the crystal gems. Maybe she's still creating gems somewhere, but ruling with a more caring hand, showing all of the newer gems what it's like to be compassionate towards eachother and that they can be anything they want to be.
