I like this theory, but I do believe indirect kiss had played a part in this as well, similar to how Garnet kissed Steven's forehead to give him future vision. (Forgot what episode) Steven's saliva healed her eyes, as well as giving her the ability to fuse in the first place, where the dna gets transferred.

The Roundtable I hold that idea very high in the show, and to see it be tainted would make me pretty upset, tbh. A real copout.
What if Connie is fully human and that's the point? Connie represents the normal people in the audience. How normal people can do anything if they work hard and learn everything they can learn.

Amethyst is in the wrong because she believes (or at least believed) that just because she's defective that automatically makes her weak and useless, something that until Jasper revealed it, never even crossed her mind. One of the core messages of the show is that nearly everyone is capable of changing for the better, if they want to or try to, as shown with Lapis, Peridot, Amethyst, Steven, Connie, Lars, Buck, Ronaldo, Connie's mom, Garnet, Pearl, Bismuth, Jasper (in respects to fusion in that she saw the advantages of it, although she uses it negatively), Andy, and many more. Just saying, watch the episodes back and any episode that features them prominently usually shows a change in their mannerisms or personality (with the exception of Jasper and maybe Steven, as his changes are more to do with understanding rather than personality)
Didn't Connie say in Rose's Room (or something) that the main character of the books she was reading had a witch who didn't know she was a witch? Steven pretty much always knew he had the potential to use his gem powers. (In the first episode, he made a concerted effort to summon his weapon. It wasn't a surprise for him.) And in the episode where she talked about the story, she dressed as that character, the character who discovered powers she didn't know she had.
One potential reason I think your argument of Connie becoming gem-like after Stevonnie is a little weak is that I don't think we've seen much of a change to Steven after he became part of Smoky Quartz. I know it's a little early to tell, but Steven fused with Amethyst and is part human. If Connie could be changed by becoming part of Stevonnie sometimes, wouldn't Steven start to change a bit?
I don't think so. Gems are separate sets of data on their own, so two gems fusing then un-fusing wouldn't overwrite the data of one another.

Jeffrey Stanley I believe that, since Steven is half human, his gem starts a reaction that merges the two, and due to the added help of the gem, the body is able to form stronger muscles, a combined DNA structure and essentially a new creation.
But Steven is half gem so he wouldn't be effected but Connie is completely human so there could be side effects.

Also, recently when blue diamond crushed Rose's sword, Connie fell to the ground harmlessly, I don't know if that was just cartoon logic or if it was hinting at something more.

Just revisiting this theory... but after some development in the series we see that Lars is completely changed after being revived by Steven's healing tears- thus the first explanation you give actually makes a lot more sense. With just a few tears Lars is revived, his hair color changes and becomes a transdimensional portal link to Lion's mane. If Connie's sight was corrected because of an indirect kiss, or contact with Steven's saliva, who's to say that this wasn't also the moment that altered her being enough to make her a feasible fusion material for Steven. This makes the most sense to me as it would be the clearest explanation for the possibility of Stevonnie and even opens up new possibilities (and probable cause) for a Stars fusion. Further, we see that Lars has been permanently altered by Steven's tears, even inheriting new powers. I'm all on board for the idea that the healing ability of Rose Quartz creates a new kind of fusion potential/power for those who receive it. It might even open up new possibilities for characters like Greg, and perhaps explain some subtle coincidences.

For those curious about the shout out of the day, I'm not sure if I wanna do them on weekends or even every single week day, because I don't want to run out of people to shout out. I also don't wanna shout out just anyone who asks because then it isn't earned. I shout out based on people who clearly are putting their heart and soul into their content, and if I think my audience, you guys, will enjoy them too!

I'd like to give to give my Addition to the theory
So, there's another theory that Rose has attempted fusion with humans before, thousands of years ago, and finally succeed with Greg to make Steven! So, what of another gem at the time make a Gem-Human hybrid first, and that hybrid mated with normal humans, giving thousands, maybe millions of people the "Gem-gene"! And when Steven fused with Connie, he activated the dormant Gem gene! ((Like mutants)) Giving Connie increased strength and skill speed! And the reason that Dr.Maheswaran could pick up the sword is that she is a fully grown woman, she already has the Gem-gene activated, but not fully. And I think the reason Mr. Maheswaren isn't as strong ((I'm guessing)) is because either he doesn't have the Gem-Gene or it only activates in female humans, because of the female form in gems! So the genes in Connie being FULLY activated, gives her the immensely increasing strength and her ability to learn so quickly

I had a fan girl moment when he mentioned Danny Phantom and American Dragon. Those shows were fun.
True. Binged whole Danny Phantom series last summer. I didn't really think they did a good job on the half human half ghost aspect. Steven is part gem and part human. He is stronger than your average human boy, but isn't as strong as a gem. Danny was as strong, of not stronger, as a full ghost.
In Danny's case it makes more sense if you consider Vlad and him, rather than Half Ghost and Half Human, a fusion of a Full Ghost and a Full human who can switch back and forth. After all, it was possible to separate the two and have them both be completely autonomous entities. You couldn't just "Rip" the Gem out of Steven.
Ghost's gained power from their psyche, which was, for most ghosts, incomplete manifestations of obsessions. Punk Music, Childhood rebellion, love of the hunt, Rules, etc. The Half Ghosts were all stronger because they drew their powers from a complete human consciousness. Pariah Dark was the most powerful pure Ghost we've seen and he seemed to be closer to an actual person than a gimmick. "It's a burden, isn't it child, all that power?!"
Danny's Evil Future Self was the most powerful ghost in existence, being a twisted imprint of a full Human, (two, in fact) and yet Danny was shown to be able to develop more quickly than him because he still had a FULL human side to draw power from. Even though he was more powerful overall, Danny will likely be much more powerful than him in ten years.

Yeah, I don't think Connie is part gem... I think she is just a normal human. With a show full of magic and powerful gem warriors I think it's nice that there's just a normal human like Connie who is a great sword fighter to balance things out! I liked this theory though as it's more possible than just her being part gem for some unexplained reason! Keep up the great work! :)

Fantomex I'm not sure, when Lapis went back to Homeworld she said everything was different, and in Jailbreak they were kept in destabilizing prison cells so it could be prison, or may have some sort of prison for the unwanted/rebellious gems. :)

to humans fusing because one being half gem is still possible the gem capability to fuse and the to human have forming to become one. Since they have a similar make up they are able to fuse same with amethyst and Steven but is gem half this time. I see Stevens DNA being one half identical to humans while the other half looks like that of a gem. Unless Connie fuses with another human, she is only human and has no special gem DNA. Connie is also gifted at a lot of things and being a good tennis player can teach you how to learn basic sword fighting turn a racket side ways and hit the ball with the frame not the netting. Perhaps Humans can't fuse on their own due to not having the right genes but a hybrid must have it due to it being a dominate trait in the DNA so Steven being able to fuse has always been possible he just never new how to unlock his quote "Gem Puberty"perhaps gems can only fuse after a set amount of time whether for a full gem it be after a few days or two or a few minutes, perhaps being a hybrid Steven was a late bloomer due to him being mostly human in appearance and needs because the human traits are more dominate. Steven may be a full grown Gem and that's why he looks like he is not aging. Steven is more then likely the only human hybrid and it Rose's testament that love for someone or something can conquer all. I believe that in the final conflict with the diamonds Steven and Connie will fuse then they will fuse with the other crystal gems and defeat Yellow Diamond. Blue Diamond will most likely surrender and not fight back after seeing yellow being defeated. When the reach White Diamond she will use the corruption light on the fusion but due to Steven and Connie they will be able to beat the corruption light and it will be shot back to white diamond thought the fusion now breaks. Steven then offers white diamond to fuse due to his human DNA being immune to corruption white Diamond will be reluctant until Jasper tells her experience with corruption same with the other corrupted Gems being cured. White diamond will accept and will e cured. However due to all the corruption Steven had to absorb his gem will crack and he has to be brought to rose's fountain to be healed where his gem will heal but the color will fade and his gem will fall off. Steven will become a full human and the home gems will leave earth and say goodbye, but promise to come visit again.

It could be because steven is organic but also half gem which gives him the ability to fuse. Greg was fully organic and Rose was fully gem.

I think because they tried to hard. Think about it, first time fusses happens never happen on purpose so with them pushing the fussen it wouldn't work. But that's just what i think.😋

Actually it does. Fusion represents a relationship. Either friendly of sexually. That’s why Malachite didn’t work. It wasn’t a real relationship. It was unhealthy and unstable. Take Ruby and Sapphire for example. They are basically lovers. When they are Garnet, they are closer than ever and they rarely fight against each other. Their relationship is almost perfect. They can still argue from time to time, but their bond never weakens, and they always make up.

What if one day, they’ve fused so many times, Connie starts growing a gem somewhere. Then eventually, she is a gem! 🤯
Rachel the Saltine That wouldn’t happen. Because that’d mean Connie would be taking part of Steven’s gem or possibly similar to gem production, taking life to create gems. And it just couldn’t happen.
Also, you have to remember that Bismuth made Rose's sword to damage a gem's physical form, but never shatter. So, it could have probably been made out of rather light material as a way to make it sharp enough that it can pierce a gem's physical form, but too weak to break the hard structure of the gem itself. Thus, it's big but it's light enough for Connie and her mum to carry.

I think it's more like Connie has a gem ancestor. Why? Well, do you remember that episode (I belive it was "We need to talk" but I'm not sure about that) where Greg wanted to fuse with Rose? He asked The Crystal Gems how to fuse with her and Garnet said "First you need a gem at the core of your being. Then you need a body that can turn into light". As we know, a human's body is made of bones, meat and keratin. So, no light in Connie's body (if we assume she has no gem's DNA). Her fusing with any gem would be impossible. Of course, Steven is half-gem half-human but I think, his human half doesn't actually does something connected with fusing. Why am I thinking that? We've seen that to do a fusion, gems need to dance. But in Somkey Quartz case, Amethyst and Steven hugged. So, if we assume that gems can do fusion by hugging someone rapidly, why Steven has never fused with people who ever hugged him like that in a show?? Because they have no light in theirs bodies. So it seems like Connie needs to have a gem ancestor.
Next thing is, Connies favourite book. As she said "It’s my favorite series! It’s about this girl named Lisa and she’s a witch! - I mean, she doesn’t know she’s a witch at first. Anyways she goes on this quest to find her father after he’s kidnapped by the mysterious one-eyed man.". When Connie and Steven played in Rose's Room, she dressed up as Lisa. I think that that book and her cosplaying have purpose. Plus, we've seen one one-eyed Gem so maybe Eyeball will do the thing. Who knows.
The next thing is appearance. Of course, there was a gem who looked like Connie (or her mom) in the episode where Garnet talked about past of Ruby and Sapphire. Blue is often associated with water or ice. We know that Sapphire is blue and she has ice powers. Do you recall that episode where Connie and Steven met for the first time and they spend a whole day under the water? It might be a connection between Connie under the water and that blue gem, don't you think? There is also something with Conne's profile of the face. It is similar to Blue Diamond's.
The last thing is the fact that all of Connie's outfits have something blue or blue-related.
But that's just a theory and untill we finally know if Connie has something connected to the gems, everything might change.

honestly, apart from the fusion theory, since gems r not organic in nature, so they don't have dna, so I don't think it is possible, likely it was an over sight that the sword was not given any sort of weight or treated like it

Here's a question, how much does a Claymore weigh? The answer. Not much. It's a sword that can be 6 feet long but only weighs a few pounds, less than ten in fact. Roses sword is pretty big, but doesn't have a huge cross section and although is does have a pretty thick width (measured from edge to spine) isn't really that outlandish. I and since we don't know what it's made of exactly, for all we know the whole thing could weigh less than a pound. I think while training in a future episode Connie will get hurt and will have an open wound. Steven will use healing spit on her and she gets gem DNA and becomes a half gem like Steven. I don't think she would gain a gem or anting like that but she would have gem powers (for example metal powers,bubbles,fusing with full gems, water powers, ice powers, fire powers, super strength, floating, and this is a stretch but maybe she could be corrupted. I don't know how she would be corrupted but maybe if she gets hurt then she could poof and turn into a rod of dna or somthing like that, or she could be corrupted. She could become a giant, an ogre, a centaur, a mermaid or any other human like creatures instead of what ever corrupted gems are based off of, if they are even based of anything
I didn't add this in the first comment because it is a different theory but I think when home world comes earth she gets her mom to do something to her like getting a syringe and getting of blood ( or whatever gems have) from all of the chrystal gems so she becomes the ultimate gem but isn't really a gem. Maybe if this does happen she will take on the form of a human like creature like a mermaid,centaur,ogre act this is highly unlikely but it is a theory

I think for a human and a gem hybrid to fuse, the first time it happens is because of an almost unbreakable bond, and then the other times it’s because their DNA becomes compatible with someone who has both human and gem in their makeup. It would make sense seeing as after Steven and Connie rekindled their relationship, they could fuse almost immediately. I don’t know if the events of Stranded took place a little while after “Kevin Party”, but I’m gonna go with it happening like the day after.

Hey I have a theory about Infinity Train. Maybe the number on Tulip's hand is the train car number that leads her home. So the 53rd (or 49th or another random number) train car is the car that takes her home. I also have a small theory about One-One, maybe One-One is tasked with helping "passengers" get to their desired train car. That's why the puzzles are made for One-One, like the balance switch. Maybe herself isn't a descendant of any know gems. But perhaps the first time she fused with Steven, Steven's gem half somehow altered Connie's DNA in a way. I'm just going off of blind suggestions but it would make since because Connie never held the sword before fusing with Steven and maybe gem weaponry is like Mjolnir or Thor's hammer, and a person has to be worthy to use a gem weapon. So fusing with Steven and him altering her DNA made Connie worthy like a gem to use Rose's sword
And in continuing watching this theory. Just because Rose's sword might be light enough for Connie's mom to pick it up, doesn't mean that the sword couldn't change mass to be heavy enough so that no one worthy could use it

This is a stupid , irrelevant piece of info, but Stevonnie isn't 25% gem, they are 33.3% gem. (Assuming Stevonnie is completely human.) Steven is half gem, half human. Connie is full human, not half human, half human. She would count only as a whole, meaning Stevonnie is 2/3 human.

The reason why Connie picked up sword fighting so quickly is because she used to have tennis practice. The evidence is in the episode "Lion 2" where she says herself that she practiced tennis. "Forward hand, Backhand, OVERHEAD DEATHSTRIKE!" Was the move that defeated the robot that defended Rose's Armory.

I get the feeling that it may be both, but given how thin the bloodline had grown it had become dormant within Connie. And the (repeated) fusing with Steven and exposure to various other magical gem artifacts and the like re-awakened those powers and such within her.

Yellow was first shown as her mother then Yellow Diamond, I dont know if diamonds can shape shift but maybe Yellow is shape shifting as her mother and her mother is somewhere out there.
Stevonnie was placed as Pink Diamond in the dream, same persona as Steven but with a higher temper.
