    They didn't put in a mic jack because they knew it would be the perfect camera, and they wouldn't sell the more expensive models :(

    • @JC-fj7oo
      @JC-fj7oo 4 года назад +1

      Same with the screen. If you want the flip screen and a mic jack you have to either give up ibis and get the g7 or drop hundreds more to get the g85

      @@JC-fj7oo is this better than Fuji XT30?

    • @JC-fj7oo
      @JC-fj7oo 3 года назад

      @@melonmelonii Depends on what you mean by "better". It could be better for some people. Especially if cost is a concern then I would take a gx85 with a handful of good lenses. You can get it with 2 kit lenses for around $500 and spend 500 on a sweet macro lens or batteries and be around 1000 dollars. AND in body stabilization means you can use crazy cheap manual lenses off amazon for like 30 bucks and still get good images.
      The xt-30 is a fantastic camera with a bigger sensor and imho much better colors and a lot more pixels and a generally better image quality. But it's 1000 for a body with a kit lens. Even adding a viltrox nifty fifty and a spare battery is getting into 1500 dollars and won't have any stabilization.
      For that money I would say go for something like an x-s10 which has IBIS and can come with a 16-80 for 1500. Though you can get away with using cheaper lenses because of the ibis. So it would save money over time.

    I just got this for my birthday on July 12th. It came with the 12-32 and 45-150 lenses for just under $500. I agree with you, that is a tremendous bargain. It may not have the top specs of some of the more recent cameras but it is has enough to make it a feature rich package. The 5 stop IBIS is still better than most current cameras. This is a compact camera to take with you at all times. The one huge drawback is no mic input but you can use something like the Tascam DR-10SG Camera-Mountable Audio Recorder with Shotgun Microphone. You''ll just need to add the audio in via post processing.

    I've been using this little guy for a little over a year now and I could not be happier. The quality of images and the removed anti-aliasing from the sensor just makes it great. Not to mention it has a great dynamic range at above +12evs. The 5-axis OIS is the best out there (combine that with a lens that has OIS and your hand is basically a gimbal).

I like to put my 14mm 2.5 that I've added to my collection on it and go for a long walk. As he said, the 25mm 1.7 works well too, but I like to get close and shoot away... I have made a lot of money with this cam with photos and videos. There are much better lenses than the ones shown here. I look back at some of the photos that I shot with it and am still amazed at the image quality! Not one customer ever said, "hey that's a B camera, you cannot use that!" All I heard is that your photos and videos look great! I had the GX85 put up for a while after getting the G9 which is also very underrated. I got it out recently to do a video shoot along side the G9, not as a "B cam" but as an equal cam. Never lost focus on either cam and really could not tell the quality difference except by their positions at the shoot! Beautiful 4K. Also some of the GX85 photos were used in pamphlets advertising a major follies show in Dallas.

    Awesome video for an awesome little camera. Bought myself one in late 2017 and had 3 of my friends getting one as well after shooting with it.
    I can definitely recommend the 20mm pancake for shooting on the go. And surprisingly the sigma 16mm offers nearly perfect facetracking in videomode so you could use the gx80 as a vlogging cam even without a rotating screen.
    What are your preferred settings in natural mode for video, minus 5 for everything or do you leave some noise reduction on?

Most shots were in 4k 24p besides two of the shots that were filmed in 1080 60p. I just applied some simple color correction and a simple Kodak LUT that's dropped to a low opacity, just to add a bit of "flavor and look" to the clips. Thanks!

    Whenever I am attempting to capture footage and there is some background light. I get an annoying greenish, reflective flare at the bottom of my frame and as I move the camera it moves with the camera. It is difficult to explain without being able to send a photo/video. Is this normal or is there possibly something wrong with my gx85? I am new to photography and don't have much experience. I am a subscriber and I watch all of your vids. I hope to one day get to the point where my footage looks as good as yours. Thanks

      Hey Dan, I'm so sorry for the late reply, if this message it to late I apologize. So it seems like a flare is entering into your lens and possibly with the IBIS enabled it's displaying as a wobbly reflective flare? Let me know if that sounds right, maybe we can troubleshoot it!

      I believe Panasonic just updated some cameras with some webcam abilities. I'm not sure if this is true with the GX or not. Vlogging isn't the best with this cam since you only can use the internal mics. Which most people wouldn't care too much about, but I like nice audio!
