Ben has finished a lot of food that he said he didn’t like, and it was cheap. The fact he didn’t finish this fifty dollar steak really shows how bad it is.
As someone who works at a locally owned steakhouse that cuts and cooks the steak, $45 is a lot, especially for the chain restuarant. We charge $36~ for a 14oz Ribeye.
i remember that microwave steak video. iirc, you ate half straight out of Chef Mic. you seared the other half and ate it with HP sauce. the fact that it was better, cheaper, and probably quicker too is insane.
It's actually really rare for me to judge food this bad like you did in this video, it happened to me very few times that i can remember. One time i ordered a burger from a "high end" bistro place, i was so excited for it and when i saw how it looked and tasted i had the exact same reaction like you, walking away pissed and wanting money back couldnt stop thinking about it the whole day shit feeling.
Outbacks near me in the US are decent. I'm sure it depends on the kitchen manager/chef and how they run things. I don't eat it alot due to cost but they always have a solid Filet
To be fair, it's almost impossible to fuck up a filet because they're so lean. You don't have to trim them like you would a ribeye or strip, and you don't have to worry about fat rendering.
looks like ben actually got a rancid steak which is wild. like that location got major issues, if they're cooking rancid meat, let alone serving it. I remember going to outback in korea when I was young with my family, it was always a decent experience if a bit overpriced for the quality.
Australian here, The reason your steak is called the Queensland steak is because of area/state of Australia "Queensland" most of the well known cattle farms are located there. I haven't been to an outback steak house (we do have them here but there isn't that many, the closest one to me is 1h away)... In Australia we eat a lot of steak... We are pretty picky if the steaks isn't good I've seen Aussies take steaks back and ask "what the heck is this crap". Even our truck stop "cheap steaks" are a 7/10 Maybe that's why there aren't many outback restraunts here 😄
Honestly this bums me out, I remeber really liking Outback when I was a kid. Now I haven’t been in years but I always remember it as being pretty good ya know? Bummer they are bogus now.
I actually eat out at Outbacks, longhorns, and texas roadhouses quite often here in the U.S - and the steaks have always been surprisingly good. Though, I typically stick to sirloin, strip or filet. That piece you got there looks like it's fatty throughout, and unrendered fat at that. Shame you got such a crap piece but it does happen sometimes.
@@tsrptr1026 A reputable steakhouse having bad steak is irony yes, but your sentence is far from what you just described lol you called ben an "ironic madman" for ordering steak from outback which makes no sense lol
My dad taught me the same thing. But his idea of a good steak was one from walmart, no seasoning and cooked almost well done. That was what I thought steak was while growing up. After I cooked my first medium rare steak, I felt like I was reborn. Literally threw the A1 in the garbage that night.
I tried Outback for the first time recently (also avoided it for the longest time for the same reasons as Ben) and it was honestly much better than I expected. Flavorful, tender, and medium rare just like I asked - overall a solid 7.5/10. I'm guessing their quality control is garbage especially for international markets then.
Same, I got a ribeye medium, and it honestly was pretty good and the sides were great, as you said, it’s probably the quality control that’s shitty. Depends on the restaurant you go to if you want a good steak or get a shitty one I guess.
Never seen Ben this pissed, but I knew that was going to be tough as hell as soon as he cut it. Its definitely not a steak cut. Looks like a cut that you would brine and use for corned beef silverside.
"The quality of food at Outback Steakhouse has been under criticism lately, as some people claim the Australia-themed family restaurant has seen a decline in food quality after its acquisition last November by bhc, Korea's second-largest fried chicken franchise. But the company flatly denied such claims, saying it will take legal action against anyone spreading "groundless" rumors." -The Korea Times, March 2022.
i once went to outback and the steak tasted like it came out of an air fryer, so i asked the lady if it was and she said "no you can come see that we dont have a air fryer" and i said "okay lets go see" and she immediately said no and walked away, definitely air fried lol
The worst steak I ever had was from Outback. The experience kept me away for about 10 years. I finally tried them again and it was WAAAY better than the first one. Inconsistency is never a good thing from a restaurant.
I remember my ex taking me to Outback for the first time in Irvine like 6 years ago. There’s literally nowhere to eat and drink around there so we either had TGIFridays or Outback. I said let’s try Outback. I wanted to try the Blooming Onion. Wow! It was like eating fried batter and salt. I took like 3 bites and I was done. At least their drink prices were reasonable. One and done.
Rule #1. Never ever have steak delivered or take out. It's gotta be eaten hot off the grill while you can still hear that sizzle. Delivery/take out just saps all the flavor out of the meat. Rule #2: Never ever go to Outback for steak. It's basically factory steak. Go to a specialized steakhouse where you get much better cuts. There are a few good ones in Seoul, pricey but very good.
I haven’t been to Outback in awhile but I usually get their Alice Springs Chicken…it’s ahhhmazing!! When I do get steak there, I get their sirloin and it’s always been good
The steaks were too wet/cold before they cooked it thats why its that color, should’ve been dried a bit and brought to temp before cooked. You can see the grey ring of inconsistency
I like outback, but they closed in my area, so maybe the prices were too high for the quality. They don't serve either prime or choice meat far as I know. We had a few problems with the prep when it comes to them, but not always. Once it was very under seasoned and once I got a helluva tough steak. And they don't even serve real butter. I do kinda miss it being so close by, though.
I don’t know if I’ve had outback steaks, but Texas Roadhouse is really good in my opinion. I think you have to have it hot at the restaurant table! Maybe the delivery cooled it down or something
I am from Queensland and I have no idea why they call that Steak the 'Queensland Ribeye'. I've never heard that term once. I don't think it is a thing outside of Outback Steakhouse.
Ben I had to do the same double take with Outback... Was pretty sure my first experience was bad here in the states but wasn't 100% positive. Gave it another shot a few years ago and confirmed it was indeed bad. Ordered medium came out WELL WELL DONE. Got a good one after complaining and it was trash. Will never go back again unless someone else is paying then Ill go but order a burger or something lol
A lot of these places were good at one time because they actually had butchers that would cut the half cow that would come in every morning and the meat would be as fresh as you can get it. Nowadays everything is cut at a factory and sealed in vacuum sealed packages which could have been cut months ago and sat frozen somewhere. PS. I am surprised how "Americanized" Korea has become.
I had a similar experience at the local Outback in Cherry Hill. Steak was so stringy and tough, it felt like I was fighting it rather than consuming it. Maybe it was kangaroo meat!
