    I’m making this beanie for my son-in-law who is a very large man ..I would like to make this hat a little bigger….Do I do this by starting with 12 double crochet stitches in the magic ring instead of 10, or wait till row six and add an additional increase row ??
    Thanks for any assistance!!…

    • @ByJenniDesigns
      @ByJenniDesigns  Год назад

      You could do either but I would go with 11 in magic circle instead of 12, otherwise it may end up too large. Using 11 should give you another 1 1/2-2".

    • @ByJenniDesigns
      @ByJenniDesigns  2 года назад +4

      Hi Lesley, it's hard to help without being able to see the piece but are you possibly working 2 hdc, 1 hdc, 2 hdc, hdc..all the way around? Because that would give you 45 hdc at the end. For this row you should work a repeat of 2 hdc, hdc, hdc, 2 hdc, hdc, hdc...keep following that pattern all the way around and you should end with the 40 hdc. I hope this helps!

    I followed it exactly like you did it. Except at the end mine was more of a large bag than anything else. So I had to unwind it all. I’m not sure if my yarn was much bulkier but I’m using the same kind a size 6. Maybe yours is a different size

    • @ByJenniDesigns

      Hi Bea! Yes, if you're using bulkier yarn it will definitely turn out much larger. I've only ever made this pattern with the yarn I suggested in the video. If you're going to use bulkier yarn you'll need to adjust the increases and rows. Sorry this pattern didn't work out for you.

      @@ByJenniDesigns how do we add increases

    • @ByJenniDesigns
      @ByJenniDesigns  Год назад

      Hi, you can add some additional stitches in the 5th row. 3 increases should make the hat roughly an inch larger in circumference. If you need it even larger, 2 inches, you could change row 5 and work up this instead: Row 5: Ch 1, *2 dc, dc in next 3* Repeat from *to* around. Join with ss. (50)
      I hope this helps! Good luck!

    The materials said "10mm hook", but when I measured the circle that was supposed to be 11 cm after round 3ish, mine was almost 13cm. I'm using the same yarn and a 9mm "M" hook (that was the largest hook I had, even though you said a 10mm hook). Was this supposed to be the J/10 hook which is 6mm? Thank you for anyone who can answer my question. : )

    • @ByJenniDesigns

      The 10mm hook is the correct size for this pattern but you may just be crocheting a little looser than I do. You may want to go down another size or remove some of the increases.
