I totally agree. My first couple of years in photography started with a couple of nikon dslr’s. I got into photography a couple of years before mirrorless, but even then I always thought that Nikon had the better bodies and Canon had the better glass. With the last couple of years being a mirrorless shooter I switched over to OM and Fuji. OM for the sole reason it had an IP rating. Due to my kind of work, I am in very harsh environments all the time, and it’s light to travel with, so it’s almost perfect for my field. And Fuji because I love the style, love some of the glass they have and how compact they are, it’s my personal camera. However, recently I’ve been looking for a mirrorless full frame to replace the OM. There will be plenty of sacrifices to get a better image quality, I ended up debating between the Z9 and the R3. Sony was unfortunately quickly discarded for some of the reasons you said, the wildlife lenses just aren’t worth their weight, and tbh, their lineup of bodies is great, but not exactly for me. I was considering Canon second because I still had the stigma that Nikon had much worse lenses than Canon when it came to mirrorless. After investigating I was pleased with Canon’s selection in glass, however, I was not entirely happy with their bodies either, for me, there were more Sony bodies I preferred. Eventually I investigated Nikon bodies, they have everything I need as a photographer, I rarely shoot video; also, Nikon’s lineup of lenses have become a lot better, much to my surprise. I’ve settled on the idea of placing an order for the Z9, the 100-400 and a 2x TC to start off with and eventually dabble with the primes. I say all this because you were one of the only few people to put how Nikon has gotten better very recently. So thank you for that!
I use Pentax because I love the colours, the dynamic range and the fact that I can take it outside when the temp drops below zero. Also, Pentax has so many vintage lenses that I can pick up for $20 - $40 and attach directly to my KF. I love the output of vintage glass.
I would like to see Kasey use and make fun of a Pentax! The lack of slow-mo and other video features would probably make him roast it pretty hard. They seem like they are laser focused on delivering still performance probably more than the other manufacturers. That makes them super niche though.
I was deep into Pentax (K3 II as last camera). It led me into photography. I still own the K55/1.8 and the Super A. The Fujis (X-H line) are as robust. Drowned them in sea water and they worked fine after. Also on skiing holidays. And you could attach vintage glass just fine, even with a shift adapter for more flexibility and from every brand. Pentax dslr are past now.
@@andreasbuder4417 Aren't Pentax working on a new DSLR for 2025 or something though? I think they are still good cameras, just not for video. They are extremely niche.

Its funny just a few short years ago everyone, including Toneh Northrup thought Nikon was done and likely to go bankrupt. Now? They are (almost) better and certainly even with Canon and once they fully allow Third Party lenses (Sigma etc) they will have surpassed Canon and truly be no.2. What a crazy turn around for them and they should be proud.
For the 24MP I could buy the Nikon Z6iii with the 6K 60 and 1080HD 240p, and get all of Nikon's telephoto lightweight lenses for probably less than half the price of the Canon R1 setup.
Anyone who understands the history of photography with a half a brain could have expected this outcome, and in terms of pricing and choices, Nikon will continue to pull away optically from the competition, as it always has and will. LOL
my Z 50mm 1.4 lens will arrive soon and I will be using on my Z6iii. One of your previous video made me to choose that lens, cause I will be using it mostly for videowork
It's an awesome lens. I put at least 1500 photos through mine. Nothing like the F mount G version. More like the 50mm f/1.4 ai-s version. The 3d pop is real, and the bokeh is pretty pleasing. Its like having my ai-s lens with autofocus.
@@bailey.nt86 well that's an exact reason why I bought 1.4 instead of the 1.8 S, I already have very sharp lenses , but I do want a different and unique look, I can always stop down for better sharpness anyway.
From the moment it was announced that Nikon had bought red, I knew that they were serious about regaining their old position in the camera market. Meanwhile, Canon put out their super-fast R1, and didn't include Gen 4 slots. So the buffer fills up, and spools to the card slowly, and their stupid cameras won't let you take any more photos until the buffer clears. Why would you put out a 40 fps camera without either putting in a bigger buffer or providing faster card slots? All the rumors point to Sony putting Gen 4 slots in the upcoming A1 ii.
A bit off topic, Kasey, but check it out: I got a DJI Pocket 2 yesterday that I ordered from eBay for vlog parts on my channel. However, he didn't delete his video files off the SD card. Another great video as always.
@@Memory_Gatherers I tracked down the guy's business through Google and it's in Ohio. Sadly, the doughnut shop closed. Fuji need to revamp the GFX mount, shortening the flange distance to the smallest possible, like 15mm or something. That way you could adapt Fuji X and current GFX lenses without problem. So it would be an upgrade path. And Fuji need to include full frame in the GFX line to lower the cost and have an upgrade path. If Fuji offer that or a one mount solution for APSC, FF and MF it could sell a lot more. There are reasons why Sony, Nikon and Canon have one mount for APSC and FF.

Currently in Full Frame Mirrorless, the best bodies are from Sony, best Zoom Lenses are from Sony, and best Prime lenses are from Nikon. However best combination of Body and Lens collection, still belongs to Canon. All these brand products are fairly close though, these days.
Sony is the underdog here.... Back before they had full-frame mirrorless, their translucent-mirror DSLR's were shunned all over - Consumer Reports wouldn't even classify the camera as DSLR. I thought at that point Sony wouldn't make it in the camera business.
Nikon continues to lose market share. While Canon and Sony make cameras for photographers, Nikon makes them for reviewers. There are a lot of photographers, but not that many reviewers. In the USA, Canon is 46.5% Sony about 27.5%, while Nikon is at 11.5%, with Fuji at 6%.

@@charliebucket-u7hyou are wrong. Photos ALWAYS have to be edited what do you mean shooting raw is made for? Buy a phone and shoot jpeg if you dont want to do anything. Photographers edit.
So heres my question do you like sony or not? 😂
Nikon z8 with the nikkor 50 1.4 and adapted sigma art 85 1.4. Gets heavy with the adapted lenses but beautiful! 🤌
Currently in Full Frame Mirrorless, the best bodies are from Sony, best Zoom Lenses are from Sony, and best Prime lenses are from Nikon. However best combination of Body and Lens collection, still belongs to Canon. All these brand products are fairly close though, these days.
AI BS - I’m here to 👎 for that alone
Keep dreaming.
Stop using these garbage uncanny AI images
Yeah better without stylized lut. That might be appropriate like a movie scene.
Not AI images - Casey please "et tu brutus"
Sony is the underdog here.... Back before they had full-frame mirrorless, their translucent-mirror DSLR's were shunned all over - Consumer Reports wouldn't even classify the camera as DSLR. I thought at that point Sony wouldn't make it in the camera business.
Uhh, Nikon do have an 85mm f/1.2?!
Not in F mount.
Nikon z 85 1.2S .. its a thing 👍
A flat thing.
Nikon?? 😂
Nikon always the best image quality. Bad marketing and bad strategic decisions and the worst luck ever. But always the best image quality
